### 1.1.22 — 2026-09-07

Your Lifeline has always had a grace period: when the countdown reaches zero,
nothing is delivered until that window closes. It is there so a dead battery, a
flight, or a weekend without signal cannot send your information by accident.

The app was not showing you that window. It said "Sent". This release fixes it.

Grace period, named and counted. When your Lifeline runs out you now see GRACE
PERIOD and a live countdown of exactly how long you have to check in, in red,
pulsing, with the reassuring "days protected" badge stepped out of the way. One
check-in during that window resets everything, and now the screen says so.

The home screen widget stops guessing. It refreshes when you open the app,
periodically while you are using it, and when a reminder notification arrives.
It also knows what it does not know: rather than showing a confident countdown
built on old information, it now tells you to open the app for the current
status. It shows the grace period too.

Correct where it counts. The window's end is now calculated by the server and
sent to your device, so the time you see is the time you actually have.

This update answers a question the app should have been answering all along:
if your switch fired today, who would actually receive what?

Coverage on every item. The items list now shows which contacts receive each
item and how many attachments ride along with it. An item with no recipient
assigned gets flagged in amber instead of sitting there looking finished.

Coverage on every contact. The mirror view: each contact now shows whether
they can open everything you've assigned them, only some of it, or nothing
yet.

Knowing that they know. A switch only works if your people know they're part
of it. Introduction emails now include a "Confirm I got this" button, and once
your recipient taps it, the app shows you the confirmation. No account needed
on their side, and the link expires after 30 days.

Your data, yours to take. Settings gains a "Your data" section with a full
account export: everything you've stored, still encrypted, plus a map of
exactly how to decrypt it. We publish a free open-source tool that opens an
export offline, with no account and no network. If Etergis ever went away,
your plan wouldn't.

Written before, not after. Two new item templates cover information you write
down before something happens: Date Safety and Workplace Documentation. Both
pair with the Safety Check-In timer, which is what makes a
before-an-event item deliver.

Smaller things you'll notice: the protection checklist now lists every
remaining step instead of hiding them behind "+N more", navigation labels are
always visible, countdown rings say what they're counting ("left to check in"
for check-ins, "until delivery" for Time Capsules), items carry category
icons, and if your email address was never confirmed the dashboard now says so
and offers a resend.

Under the hood, the attachment picking flow was rebuilt and a stack of
platform dependencies moved to their current majors, which keeps the app on
good terms with this year's phones.

### 1.1.20 — 2026-08-19

Nothing new to learn this time. This update is about trust, in the two places you least want surprises: staying signed in, and unlocking your vault.

Staying signed in. Opening the app somewhere with no reception could sign you out, and an update or restart made it worse. The cause was the app treating "can't reach the server" the same as "the server said no." It now knows the difference: if you can't be verified because you're offline, you stay signed in, and the app quietly restores your session when the network returns.

Unlocking your vault. Phone keyboards like to help, and with passphrases that help is sabotage: swipe typing appends an invisible space, autocapitalize changes your first letter. So in this release:

- Passphrase fields turn all of that off: no autocorrect, no suggestions, no auto-capitals.
- If unlock fails, the app now checks the obvious keyboard mistakes for you and says which one it was, instead of failing with a cryptic error.
- If you changed your passphrase on another device, this device now notices its saved copy of your locked key is out of date and fetches the current one, so the new passphrase just works everywhere.
- When unlock genuinely fails, the message is now in English: "This passphrase doesn't match this vault."
- A new passphrase that starts or ends with a space gets a visible warning before you save it. We never trim it silently; a deliberate space is yours to keep. As always, Etergis never sees your passphrase and cannot reset it.

Changing your vault passphrase is also stricter with itself: the app now verifies the change end to end, including reading it back and proving it opens on your device, before it reports success. If anything is off, you hear about it immediately instead of discovering it later on another device.

Also fixed: a rare case where unlocking on a fresh install failed with "Invalid key backup" even though your backup was fine.

### 1.1.19 — 2026-08-17

One number, finally on screen.

Your check-in window and grace period have always added up to a single fact: if something happened to you right after a check-in, how long until your protected information reaches your people. The app never said it. Lifeline settings now state it plainly and recompute it live as you change either setting, so the trade-off you are making is visible at the moment you make it.

Also new:
- A setup checklist step for sending a test notification to a trusted contact. It proves they can be reached, and the wording is deliberate: reached, not more than that.
- When you create a protected item, the app now asks whether each contact could produce their delivery passphrase without you, and the Lifeline overview shows where that is still unconfirmed. Etergis never sees the passphrase and cannot recover it, so this handoff is the one step only you can do.
- New accounts start with a 7-day check-in window and a 1-hour grace period, the settings the app itself recommends.

Fixed in this release:
- Adding a contact with an email or phone number already on your list looked like nothing happened. It now warns you while you type, and if a create is refused for any other reason, the form stays open with your input and the actual reason shown.

### 1.1.17 — 2026-08-13

Push notifications now work on iPhone and iPad.

Notifications were not reaching iOS devices in earlier versions. They arrive now, including:

 • Check-in reminders, and the all-clear once you have checked in
 • Security alerts on your account
 • Delivery notices when a ring goes out to your trusted contacts
 • Emergency trigger warnings, which give you a window to cancel before anything is delivered

That last one matters most. If a keyword trigger fires, your device now tells you, with time to stop the delivery.

Also in this release:

 • Signing out stops notifications for that account on that device, so a shared or handed-on iPad no longer shows alerts for an account that signed out.
 • Stale device registrations are cleaned up on their own.

If notifications are switched off for Etergis, turn them on in Settings, Notifications, Etergis.
