I loved it. I would have given it five stars if I could figure out exactly how to find them. After the app located me, (which was nice and quick) I zoomed out... and out... and out... I don't see a single pin anywhere on Earth. How do I know where to go? Am I just supposed to keep the app open 24/7 no matter where I am? What is the range? Will I know when I'm within a mile? A tenth of a mile? I'm in NYC... surely SOMEONE has placed one of these things by now... but I'm not seeing it. I also wonder how I would know if someone finds something I placed. Or am I not supposed to care about that? I see no reason to place anything unless I can get a return. Throwing messages bottles into the ocean is only fun until you realize that no one is ever going to respond. I see some potential here, but no functionality yet. ### 4/5 — too bare bones *2011-01-22* I dig this idea and excited to see where it goes. I already envision exciting scavenger hunts with this, as well as lots of uses in geocaching. For now though, the app is a little too bare bones and I'm kind of in the dark about a few things. How close do I need to be to an ethercache to "see" it? Can they be deleted? Can they be commented on, kinda like leaving a message for the hider? Nice start on what could turn into a fantastic twist on hunting for treasure.
