It describes over 840 of the more common and accessible tree species found in the Southern African region. This guide has species arranged in 43 logical groups based on easy-to-observe leaf and stem characteristics. FEATURES: Search by English, Afrikaans or Scientific tree names. Now a universal app - designed for both iPad and iPhone. Images, distribution maps and text descriptions of over 840 species found throughout the region. Most species have multiple full colour photographs for easy identification including photos of the full tree. A 'Group Search' that allows you to easily identify a tree species based on the characteristics of the leaves. A 'Compare' feature that allows you to compare two species on the same screen You can select a location in Southern Africa, so that the lists of trees throughout the program display only the trees in that location. A personal species list that stores your sightings saved to the device that can be exported via email in a CSV format. *Uninstalling the program will result in the loss of your list, it is recommended that you keep your own backup (master list) separate from the program. The options tab won’t open. Very disappointed ### 2/5 — Poor *2023-10-21, version 1.8.1* Cannot search any trees if you only have the species name. Also, once you've found the tree, the app doesn't tell you to which family it belongs. Not very useful. ### 1/5 — Not functioning *2023-09-25, version 1.8.1* Can not open the app completely, when you touch the main menu function the app closes. Very frustrating. You can only identify by leaves. When identifying you can't just go back you have to go to main menu to change the selected attributes. The terminology used in the identification process is not for amateurs. When looking at a species you can rotate the device to make the images/text expand to fill the screen (this also works when comparing). My List can now be exported to a CSV formatted file and emailed. Added the ability to change the language throughout the app, you can now view tree names in English, Afrikaans and Scientific. The name lists can also be viewed in either taxonomic or alphabetic order (according to the book). Added the ability to look up previous My List Locations when logging a species. Updated app icons to high resolution for retina devices. The app will now stretch to the larger screen on iPhone 5.
