I used to love to find smaller businesses instead to buying from big box stores or Amazon. But lately, the search features are getting worse and worse. First they took away the option to search for items and shops in a certain state. Etsy claims to be all for sustainability and minimizing impact on the environment, but now I swear they push stores from out of the country. Today I tried searching for an item, NOT a store, and it only showed stores that MIGHT have what I was looking for. I want to continue to support small businesses (especially those in my state that I may not know about) but, unfortunately, this app is making it harder and harder ### 2/5 — Recent update *2026-09-03, version 7.93* The newest update is horrendous. When I search up an item it’s now only showing me whole shops and not the individual items. This can’t be changed in settings and really limits what you see. I also miss being able to change the app icon. Bring it back :( ### 2/5 — New Search Engine is Useless *2026-09-03, version 7.93* I love to crochet, and Etsy is my go-to place to find crochet patterns. They recently updated their search engine, so now when I type in a descriptor, the results show me shops and a highlight of their items. Some of the items are related to my search, but not all of them. It’s made hunting through results a nightmare! I just saw a picture of a maple leaf crochet dragon on Facebook and went to Etsy to find the pattern. It wouldn’t show me anything near what I wanted, so I went to Google and searched the same thing. Not only did the exact dragon pattern pop up, but it was a link to ETSY. It was quicker for me to go out of this app to search than to use the app’s own search tool. Add to that the absolute lack of regulation surrounding AI that’s presented as real, and I’ve just about had it with this app. ### 1/5 — Give back item search *2026-09-03, version 7.93* Apparently I was randomly chosen to test out a new search function. I no longer have the individual item search and it doesn’t give me the option to go back. I don’t understand why it changed. The app is also full of AI slop ### 4/5 — i have ordered over 500 items from Etsy *2026-09-02, version 7.93* i have ordered items for friends, family, my four cats my grand daughter, my son and daughter-in-laws dog. The only product i had problems with, that i would never order again is scones. I have loved the hand made items, for the holidays. I have bought products from other countries including China, and everything has arrived safely. All the prior filtering disappears. Can’t filter for men’s rings or an exact size or specific stones. Then sellers breach contracts without repercussions. I bought a ring August 23, 2026 from Honestjewelz. Today, the earliest arrival date, I get cancellation notice without any explanation. I go find Honestjewelz in Etsy and see the exact ring I contracted to buy available but now for $80 more. And Etsy app won’t allow me to rate the seller that breached their contract. If I see something I like, I will then look at the shop for more items but let me see the item I’m looking for first. I used to love shopping on Etsy but between permitting AI, multitude of sponsored results, and now showing shops instead of items, I’m over it. I’ll go back to shopping in person craft fairs. ### 1/5 — Broken Search *2026-09-03, version 7.93* Why am I getting only shops when I search for something and not individual items???? It makes it impossible to find anything I’m looking for. I looked online and apparently I’m one of the users who got an update of sorts to test this feature out (lucky me, I guess). I want to opt out ‘cause this is the worst thing but there’s no option to. Etsy is already borked enough with how much AI nonsense is infecting the site but this makes it frustrating on a level I never thought possible. I don’t think the web browser is like that so I’ll be using my computer for Etsy for as long as the search on the app is busted. Why make this the default, are you trying to get less people to use your app??? Because this is how you do it. Horrible idea. ### 1/5 — Please end this search test! *2026-09-03, version 7.93* Apparently Etsy is running a test wherein some of us, when searching for an item, are given results of shops that may sell the specific item for which we’re searching. So instead of a search results page of items, we have to visit each shop listed and search there to see if they have anything matching that criteria. A waste of time and not at all helpful! Recently they had an update and it’s impossible to find products anymore. The search function use to allow you to search for a product and it’ll display different products from different shops kinda like amazon etc. Now when you search it shows Shops instead of products. You type your search and it pulls up different sellers showing things they’re selling and as you scroll it continues that way, it’s not laid out like it was just recently where you search it and it gives you the regular listed style of items from Etsy sellers. If your Etsy has updated in the last couple of days, you’ll know what I’m talking about unless it’s just me, but it was like this before, it’s more complicated now.
