The EU Exit: ID Document Check app lets you confirm your identity online, as part of your application to the EU Settlement Scheme. By using this app, you will not need to send us your identity document by post. Who can use the app You must be resident in the UK and either: • be a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national • have an EEA or Swiss national family member, if you are not a national of a country in the EEA or Switzerland If you are not an EEA or Swiss national, you must have a UK issued biometric residence card or permit (provided you are in the UK) to use this app. If you do not have one, you will need to apply by post instead. Before you start You will need to be in a well-lit area, so you can take a good quality photo of yourself. You will need either: • your passport or national identity card, if you are an EEA or Swiss national • your UK issued biometric residence card or permit (provided you are in the UK), if you are not an EEA or Swiss national and have an EEA or Swiss national family member You need to use: • an iPhone 8 or newer • iOS 16 or later If you use a national identity card without a biometric chip, you can still use this app but will need to send us the card by post. How it works 1. Take a photo of your identity document. 2. Access the chip in your identity document using your phone. 3. Scan your face using the camera on your phone. 4. Take a photo of yourself for your digital status. What happens next The app only helps confirm your identity. You must complete the rest of your application online separately. Seriously, I can read every single think on the screen but no, the app cannot. And then it returns and error message like I am using it wrong or doing something silly. Seriously, couldn’t the app just recognise it is bad at doing the only thing it is supposed to do? Why can’t I take a photo of the document and submit for it to analyse instead? This is the worse junk I ever used. So much does not work that I will have to send the document on the mail. So much advanced technology yet they can’t make a simple document scanner. ### 5/5 — ?with patience it works *2023-04-19* Good app ### 1/5 — Ms *2022-11-22* Rubbish App. There is no 0 star option! ### 4/5 — Good *2022-06-20* The app does what it says I did struggle for a few minutes during the chip search it kept on saying device moved when the phone was just leaning on the passport so didn’t move but it eventually worked It’s a lot easier than send your passport or take an appointment to scan your passport! The only bad thing is when you don’t use a Uk number the text they send you arrives really late I request the text 8pm received it 7am the next day ( changed my application details in between to put my Uk phone number and on this number the text arrived in 10 seconds) So maybe the app should warn that if you don’t use a Uk phone number it may take a few hours to receive it Appart from that this app makes the process easier and faster since you don’t have to wait for your passport to be received or to go to a place to scan it in person ### 1/5 — Scan doesn’t work *2021-10-11* Have to send my passport to the UK as it did not scan it properly….super annoying ### 3/5 — Resolution center *2021-09-29* I applied with my id in 2019. It has expiried and i was unable to get passport in lockdowns. I maanaged to get temporary passport before 30 of june and i apllied again. I was unable to reach resolution center cause they are always busy and do not pick up. Today i received my biometric passport and aplied again but i do not have to post my passport to liverpool. I hope i get my settled staus this month after staying 6 years in uk. The people leaving negative reviews must have trouble tying their own shoelaces because it literally couldn’t be easier. I am not sure how anyone has failed to find it easy to use as my paperwork was uploaded in seconds!
