The app does what it says I did struggle for a few minutes during the chip search it kept on saying device moved when the phone was just leaning on the passport so didn’t move but it eventually worked
It’s a lot easier than send your passport or take an appointment to scan your passport!
The only bad thing is when you don’t use a Uk number the text they send you arrives really late I request the text 8pm received it 7am the next day ( changed my application details in between to put my Uk phone number and on this number the text arrived in 10 seconds)
So maybe the app should warn that if you don’t use a Uk phone number it may take a few hours to receive it 
Appart from that this app makes the process easier and faster since you don’t have to wait for your passport to be received or to go to a place to scan it in person

I applied with my id in 2019. It has expiried and i was unable to get passport in lockdowns. I maanaged to get temporary passport before 30 of june and i apllied again. I was unable to reach resolution center cause they are always busy and do not pick up. Today i received my biometric passport and aplied again but i do not have to post my passport to liverpool. I hope i get my settled staus this month after staying 6 years in uk. 
Do not understand why it takes ages to get it if you do not have biometric passport.

Deutsche Nummern funktionieren wegen dem fehlenden + nicht. Man kann aber die Nummer ändern (ich empfehle eine englische) indem man auf gov.uk unter der Suche „Update your uk“ klickt und das erste Suchergebnis anklickt. Hier können alle Informationen geändert werden, danach klappt alles reibungslos. War insgesamt 1:30h in der Warteschleife für die Info vom Homeoffice. Hoffe es hilft jemanden.

Have tried on two different phones - both with the latest updates and always get the same message claiming the phone or the document moved! And it never did. The only thing I did was to click next and then had the phone on top of the passport. Have tried some 30x times now! Can’t send my passport to them because I will need it! So what to do???? No problem with the chip at the airport so it can’t be faulty. Phone works on Apple Pay etc with no problems so it is this app that is faulty! One starts to suspect they don’t want us to apply!

Haha totally trash. Tried multiple times to get my pre settled status and it’s not working. There is always an Error and I can’t receive a sms. There is no way to contact anybody to do it only with an email or to get help!

If there is something they managed to do is an app that is absolutely useless to scan a document. 
Seriously, I can read every single think on the screen but no, the app cannot.  And then it returns and error message like I am using it wrong or doing something silly. Seriously, couldn’t the app just recognise it is bad at doing the only thing it is supposed to do?
Why can’t I take a photo of the document and submit for it to analyse instead? This is the worse junk I ever used. So much does not work that I will have to send the document on the mail. So much advanced technology yet they can’t make a simple document scanner.

Since 3 months I am trying to apply for this and I still get the exact same problem. 
After taking the picture of my documents, they say that I'll receive a text message with a pin which I never receive. I cannot even apply! And because of Covid we cannot take an appointment so the possibility of going to the register office is taken off as well! So 2/3 choices to apply are out!! This is scandalous! I am supposed to trust Royal Mail to send my documents which always loose packages?? 
This is an app from the government and it's properly the worse one EVER! 
You are not making people's life easy! Just review your algorithm and AB Test it at least every week instead of being lazy! Technology needs to be reviewed everytime!

Does what it says and I don’t have to send my passport off or make an appointment and spend money on travel or registered mail and all that nonsense. 
The people leaving negative reviews must have trouble tying their own shoelaces because it literally couldn’t be easier. Scan your passport, scan your face, take a selfie - done.

I was dubious on downloading as the reviews were so bad, but thought it was worth a try. I am not sure how anyone has failed to find it easy to use as my paperwork was uploaded in seconds! Highly recommend for any online applications which will save time and effort in making appointments or sending your passport in post.

The app worked as it was supposed to do. I hat no problems at all. I used my (German) Passport, which instead of my ID has the internal chip. Check the sign and don‘t confuse with the NFC stuff.

I too just leave a review to compensate all bad ones. 
I have and iPhoneX and a Hungarian passport from 2016 with the biometric chip.
The application took about 20 min (including the 3 min whilst I downloaded and installed the app) and it was completely stress free. 
I submitted my application at 10:30AM on a Friday morning and I’ve been granted the status at 5:12PM.
I can only say thanks for the quick and easy service and I can only recommend using the application.

I found it a very easy intuitive app to use. You just need to read the instructions and follow each step. Had absolutely no problem with scanning documents following the instructions. All in all I disagree with another reviewer here who seemed to have problems, follow what is written and it’s a good, simple, clear, easy app. Well done.

I don’t understand some of these bad reviews. It worked for me perfectly. Quick and easy. Saves you the hassle of posting documents. Just follow the instructions. It didn’t take longer than 5 minutes. I’ve had some trouble with getting the photo right but it was probably because my room was a bit too dark. 5 stars from me!

Hi all,I respect everyone’s opinions and experience regarding this app,but in my case it worked very well and quick,it takes you less than 15 minutes to complete and submit the whole application.
And I’m very glad to say thank you to British government for granting me a unlimited time to live in the uk.

I’m not the type to write reviews but I was genuinely impressed with the speed. It took maybe 10mins tops to send everything. I sent my passport scan, photo etc at 9pm and I got my settled status at 1pm the next day. Honestly cannot fault this system at all! 

For those struggling with scanning their passport, I recommend taking a photo of it and opening it on a computer screen and scanning it. As there’s no fumbling around, the app can scan it easily.
