AI too easy even with hardest level. A chess game that you can slip. ### 1/5 — Hope it gets better *2011-10-08* I really want to give this more rating, but due to the fact that it dosen't work i cant. The app loads fine, but it then just gives you the top cornor of the board and stays put. Nothing works, and the keys on the UI are so unresponsive in the end i just gave up. The problem (at a guess) seems to be in the version it's giving people. It looks like there's only the one version and that's the ipad version, despite them saying it's iphone friendly. Unfortunatly it isn;t, it isn't scaling and thus is unplayable. Now, this is a bug that has apparently been addressed in the last patch, so just waiting for apple to update the app. I'll give more thoughts after that. It also dosen't help of course that the links to the Dev's website are broken. I would happily pay more to have just the game on screen without adverts. ### 4/5 — Good for mid ability players *2012-09-23* I'm a very middle of the road player capable of some quite strategic moves or complete Muppetry. I have really enjoyed the fact that Eugene can be really challenging and sometimes will also make the kind of genuine mistakes that most of us make. For this reason nearly every game is worth playing out to the end. Also if you really make a stupid move, you are allowed to 'UNDO' which means you can continue having learned a valuable lesson. Yes there a few graphical problems but of the dozen or so programmes I have tried this one has certainly been the most rewarding. ### 3/5 — Good looking but weak *2014-10-28* I found the computer too easy to beat , in all honesty , it was mate in 11 moves and it was on its hardest difficulty! Please fix! ### 3/5 — Update seems to have broken it. *2011-10-05* Downloaded this a couple of days ago and it was fine, but went to play it today after a version update and it no longer works. All I see is the top left corner of the board - maybe it thinks my iPhone 3GS has an iPad display? ### 2/5 — Not Player Friendly *2011-12-27* Very difficult to see the bigger picture of whats going on. Played once got innihilated. ### 2/5 — Title image problem *2011-12-17, version 1.2* When starting the app, an image of chessboard appears. Many people complains that this is, unlike the actual game, 3D image. I don't mind that one, but I strongly request the developer to replace the image with AUTHENTIC CHESS STARTING POSITION. -The board should be rotated 90' in order to follow 'light on the right' rule. -Black queen should directly face the white queen, and same goes to king against king. Given that the board is placed correctly(unlike in this image), white queen MUST stand on a light square, and black queen on a dark square. It's simplified by a phrase "dress matches the shoes" Any starting positions which don't follow these 2 rules are INVALID, and become a sufficient reason to cancle the entire match. In short, THIS IS NOT CHESS. An image like this gives impression that the developer didn't study chess well.
