### 2/5 — logs me out like 3x per week

*2026-08-25, version 54.1.0*

this app sucks. logs me out of my account like 3 times per week for no reason. extremely annoying to deal with while traveling and often on poor wifi

### 2/5 — Useful but needs improvement

*2026-08-24, version 54.0.0*

This app is useful once you learn the basics, but it’s hard to grasp how to work it. The video tutorials are not clear and there is no one at the kiosks to help you.

### 4/5 — Keeping it loose on holidays, going with the flow!

*2026-08-23, version 54.0.0*

Two weeks in, on a 30day eurail pass, it’s going well and should get a few more countries in before the end of my journey ❣️

### 2/5 — Slow

*2026-08-19, version 54.0.0*

I’ve finally accepted after years of using the apps for multiple trips that there isn’t an easy solution to reservations in multiple countries. However, the app itself seems to get slower every year, and having four travellers on one app (not all kids have their own phones…) takes forever waiting for the ticket to scroll from one user to the next, sometimes simply failing to load and needing an app reset. Not sure if it’s just me or not, but the train guards have all seemed patient so perhaps it’s everyone.

### 2/5 — Difficult to navigate

*2026-08-17, version 54.0.0*

Very difficult to navigate confusing especially when they send you to another website. Even ChatGPT has problems with figuring this thing out.

### 3/5 — Fictitious train

*2026-08-12, version 53.1.0*

Luckily checked the time of our train from Venice to Verona that was detailed in the app only to discover it did not exist. Could have easily caused a real problem in making the connecting train we had booked seats on…

### 2/5 — Do not interrail through Europe

*2026-08-11, version 53.1.0*

The app itself is fine, some minor glitches and issues with loading screens, but DO NOT travel through Europe with a eurail/interrail pass. It is so much more expensive than just buying a cheaper plane ticket. What they dont tell you is in addition to the eurail pass, you also have to buy individual seat reservations for EACH train which is usually around €40 and adds up quickly. Additionally, it doesn’t tell you if you need to print out your tickets in advanced as some countries require which will end up causing you to most likely miss your train. The app is fine for organizing train rides but that’s about it.

### 2/5 — Hassle

*2026-08-10, version 53.1.0*

The app is a massive hassle to use and has lots of flaws which causes lots of stress

### 4/5 — Helpful tool

*2026-07-29, version 52.4.1*

I’ve found this to be super helpful will planning journeys, and easy to use overall. Where I see the most inaccuracy is with which trains require reservations and what the cost is if so.

### 3/5 — Good, but….

*2026-07-19, version 52.2.0*

The app is very intuitive. Only issue is that it show the platform number or train company most times.

### 3/5 — Unoptimized interface

*2026-07-18, version 52.2.0*

The app has great features but it’s all so illogical. I shouldn’t have to select the trip, turn it on, use a day, go to a different tab, tap the ticket, and type in my passcode just to use my ticket. And it makes you look like a fool when someone comes to check your ticket and when you try to open your ticket, the app repeatedly crashes because of how laggy it is. It takes minimum 30 seconds for me to access my tickets and for any transport app, that‘s ridiculous. And this has been the case for many devices, android or iOS. I just wish it was a bit more user friendly considering how much you’re paying to use it.

### 4/5 — Works well once you learn how to use it properly.

*2026-07-17, version 52.2.0*

Requires a steep learning curve, but works well once you master it. The trip QR codes do not work at many station barriers, maybe not at any station barriers. This means showing the pass to station staff. If there is no one on the barrier it is a big problem. The reservation system can be clunky.

### 2/5 — Only support available was via email

*2026-07-08, version 52.1.0*

I had a problem with the app and spent hours in email correspondence going round in circles. Wasted hours of my holiday. There is no customer service where you can actually talk to someone to problem solve and my problem could’ve been sorted out very quickly. I’m reasonably Tech savvy so I can’t imagine what it’s like for someone who isn’t. Eventually I found someone who could identify the problem and then the app was easy to but I wish this could’ve happened at the outset. I was really disappointed by my experience.

### 2/5 — Useless

*2026-07-05, version 52.0.1*

Useless. Might as well not use it.

### 1/5 — UNBELEIVABLY COMPLICATED

*2026-06-30, version 52.0.0*

Compared to booking a flight, booking trains in Europe is monumentally more complex and clunking. I love travelling by train. I hate how difficult it is!

### 1/5 — So confusing

*2026-06-30, version 52.0.0*

Can't figure out how to see trips. I also can't figure out why, even when I have made reservations in the App I cannot link trips, even though it tells me to create a trip and link it.
So poorly executed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Time consuming

*2026-08-13, version 53.1.0*

This is not user friendly and you end up doing a lot of work. Customer service is not the greatest either. Nothing but regrets!!

### 1/5 — Horrible Customer Service

*2026-08-02, version 52.4.1*

Could have cared less on my situation.

### 1/5 — Garbage app

*2026-07-30, version 52.4.1*

This is the worst app I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve used many. Impossible to locate your passes and the “QR” code, only to be harassed by the rude ticket checker with an “oh you don’t know how to use eurail pass?” Then when you try to download the pass, the free ÖBB internet doesn’t work. I thought this was a modern country. I have better luck on Mexico.

### 1/5 — Dreadful

*2026-07-20, version 52.2.0*

More hassle than dragging myself to my destination by my lips whilst hogtied.
Who knew catching a train could be made to be so complicated?

### 1/5 — Probably easier to learn to fly and steal a plane

*2026-07-20, version 52.2.0*

I’d rather be trafficked than have to use this again honestly. Only good thing coming out of this app is the ability to write a bad review. Pointlessly complicated in every single way, why does it take so much aggro to pull up a QR code for 5 seconds?

### 1/5 — The app is fine, but the interrail system is broken

*2026-07-18, version 52.2.0*

The requirement to link to an individual journeys makes the system incredibly hard to work with and very easy to make a mistake (which we did, costing us €200). The pass should just be a pass - linked to specific days and no nonsense activations required.

### 1/5 — Have to enter phone passcode

*2026-07-18, version 52.2.0*

Every time you want to show your ticket to an inspector, you have to enter your phones passcode, which is totally unnecessary. Even banking apps, which arguably benefit from authentication, allow the use of FaceID.

### 1/5 — Great way to travel. Garbage app

*2026-07-09, version 52.1.0*

Awful app. Please fix the UI

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-07-09, version 52.1.0*

This app is one of the worst I have ever had the misfortune in having to use. It’s confusing, poorly designed and illogical. I would rather buy tickets for trains etc direct than use this appalling app. The website is equally as bad if not worse -if that’s even possible.

### 1/5 — Bad app with deliberate scams

*2026-07-06, version 52.1.0*

Honestly such a horrible experience, firstly you can’t book reservations in the app. Secondly they allow you to book connecting trains but then if you miss the next one due to their trains being delayed they make you pay extra for another reservation. App has terrible AI chat ‘customer service’ which then then funnel you to a human who just redirects you to a claims form which does absolutely nothing and they are no help. Hope they all die miserably

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Komplett zufrieden

*2026-08-26*

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that everything is working perfectly for you and that you’re finding the booking process smooth. We understand the desire for a simpler Interrail system and appreciate your thoughts on the reservation process. Your input is valuable, and we’re always looking for ways to enhance your travel experience.

### 5/5 — Solid Rail Planner

*2026-08-22, version 54.0.0*

It is a great tool for planning and the e-commerce interface is workable once you understand that you leave the app with the reservation payload.

### 5/5 — Review

*2026-08-03, version 52.4.1*

Easy to use and informative .

### 5/5 — Patrice Bosc

*2026-07-07*

Bonne application.

Cordialement,
The Rail Planner Team

### 5/5 — Easy

*2026-06-27, version 51.19.0*

Once you’re used to it it’s easy to use and fast to get train times (although not always bang up to date and struggles with east European train times)

### 5/5 — Painless travel by trains in Europe

*2026-06-23, version 51.19.0*

Been to Europe and travelled by trains previously but this APP has made absolute difference in travelling in Europe by trains with easy planning of routes and departures. The APP also offers local discounts of certain rides and tours at up to half price making the entire experience more rewarding. The only drawback is that some trains require seat reservations that need to be purchased separately on local websites (you need to keep track of it yourself because the APP doesn’t). Highly recommended to all travellers by train in Europe. 🙂

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2026-06-19, version 51.18.0*

Just returning from a months interrail trip around Poland using the Rail Planner app. Overall it worked pretty well and is much better than most Rail booking apps.
I had initial problems because I had planned all the rail trips on my own iPhone for my husband and I. But when ready to travel I needed to transfer everything to his iPhone. The only way was to delete his Pass and all the planned journeys on my phone and he had to do it all over again on his phone.
It would be better to be able to have our Passes and trips on both our phones just in case we lose one of our phones.

The seat reservations could also be improved. For example we had a 1st class Seniors Pass and sometimes I couldn’t book a 1st class ticket via the app and so booked 2nd class. Yet when we boarded the train there were sometimes unbooked seats in 1st class.

Also, If unable to reserve seats via the Rail Planner app, and you have to book via the train company (eg Eurostar, Eurosleeper), not clear how to transfer the Interrail Pass concessions.

### 5/5 — Idk why reviews are so bad

*2026-06-16, version 51.17.0*

Works great with eurail pass, no problems and very easy to use

### 5/5 — Mode hors ligne !

*2026-06-13*

Cordialement,
L’équipe Interrail
