### 2/5 — Non-intuitive Graphics and no Manual

*2023-12-22*

Look at the photo of the “charging status” graphic. What do the different shades mean? One is adjustable, but what effect does adjusting it have? How many miles/kms/Kw “added” is a silly value, or maybe one for a second “view” but most ev owner want to know how much is charged, how much uncharged, and how long at the current charge rate until fully charged. The charging status graphic may indicate this, but in a non-intuitive, murkily understood, undocumented way.

I’ll likely get a different charger just to obtain an app with meaningful data, vs. unclear, alien symbology.

### 3/5 — JuiceNet not new app

*2023-01-23, version 2.28*

Notified in mid-Jan 2023 that this app is to be retired in Feb 2023 & I MUST upgrade. I’m glad I waited & read dozens of complaints (no rating were above 1*). I’ll keep using my juicenet and see what happens next month. I’d like to thank all of the early users of Enel X Way app for their reports that saved me a similar grief. I rated this 3* because at least it works. I hope Enel gets their new app fixed. As far as I can tell I don’t need the app to charge my car. I just plug it in and the car’s computer tells it when and how much to charge.

### 2/5 — Stable app but mostly useless

*2022-12-10, version 2.28*

Although the app is stable, it offers limited useful information. Major gaps in functionality as I see it include:

1. No history. There is no history at all so there is no way to know when you charged last or even why it may have stopped charging (e.g. finished, failed, interrupted, etc). The lack of history also makes it difficult to measure long term charging performance.

2. No account details. Wondering what email address you used to login to the app? Sorry, not gonna tell you. Can’t change any account info in the app either.

3. Notifications offer limited information and no technical info. For example it should tell you how long it was charging before it stopped. The message should also show how much of a total charge did it provided when stopped. If interrupted/stopped before done the message should say why (eg failure, user stopped, etc)

### 2/5 — Poor quality software

*2022-11-11, version 2.28*

I recently purchased a JuiceBox 40 from Costco. Despite a huge hassle with FedEx Ground, I was able to get the unit set up and working. It seems to stay connected to WiFi, but the general app experience is really bad. I called technical support in the late evening and spoke to a friendly gentleman who sounded to be from North America, so it’s good to know that help is available for inevitable problems down the line.

Also, be aware that there is no way to change settings on the EVSE without an internet connection. There is no way to use ad hoc WiFi to change settings—only set WiFi settings.

### 1/5 — Over a year

*2022-09-29, version 2.28*

Since last update. ONE YEAR. The app functionality is a constraint, not that good and painful to use. I think I have to use it to get my state rebate as one of two authorized charge stations for home. Who’s working on this?

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-09-25, version 2.28*

I absolutely hate this app! Everything in my Home is working perfectly fine on Wi-Fi. Yet, the device consistently disconnects and reconnects, leaving me with innumerable alerts minute to minute of off-line and back online. I simply plug my car in now and don’t even bother checking the app. For reference, I own a 4xE Wrangler and have the jeep brand level two charger. I have yet to contact Support and will update my review if there is a solution found. Overall, it deserves 0 stars.

### 3/5 — Does the bare minimum

*2022-08-04, version 2.28*

I bought this JuiceBox charger over a non-smart model because I wanted to be able to take advantage of cheaper rates at certain times of the day. Unfortunately the app only lets you choose *one* period of day to do the “smart charging.” My local utility charges cheaper rates at night but *also* in the middle of the day when most people are at work.

Beyond that the app doesn’t really do much beyond what a dumb charger would’ve done by itself with no connectivity. So I feel a little silly for having spent more on the charger given that the app is so bare-bones.

### 1/5 — App Abandoned

*2022-08-02, version 2.28*

I’m convinced EnelX has abandoned this app. It does not support dark mode, larger screens, and frequently crashes. The interface is clunky and does not follow any design guidelines. The Smart Charging time selection uses a slider that scrolls through three days in 15 minute increments; seriously?

If I knew the app was going to be this bad I would have bought a different EVSE.

### 1/5 — Tesla Owner

*2022-06-04, version 2.28*

Did not work, WiFi did not show up on phone. The only trust worthy charger is sadly Tesla Supercharger stations, so far I have always been able to charge(2 years). Chargers other than Tesla, my experience has been less than 50% reliability rate. Think what customers would think of gas station that worked less than 50% of the time. Delete app as I am doing and find another company.

### 1/5 — Do NOT use! May break charger

*2022-06-04, version 2.28*

Just got off call with tech support for JuiceBox. Apparently, some boxes have issues connecting to wifi, and when you go through the troubleshooting to “fix” connection, the box will reboot itself and be unable to download firmware update. This will then fry the wifi AND the LEDs as well as “significantly reduce the charging rate”. This is a KNOWN ISSUE that they have not fixed, and do not warn you about before “troubleshooting”! If you can, buy a different charger. If it’s too late for that, DON’T use the app unless you’re willing to risk your charger poorly functioning for over a week until its replacement arrives.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy this charger

*2022-05-22, version 2.28*

Don’t buy this charger if you expect any quality data from the app. You can’t even see monthly weekly or annual usage. There are many functions you would expect that just aren’t there or don’t work.

### 1/5 — cant stay logged in

*2022-05-21, version 2.28*

Just got our Juicebox installed today and to my dismay this app is an absolute pile of garbage. It can’t even keep me logged in, which is like the most basic thing you would expect an apple to do. Every time I go to open the app it glitches out and logs me out, asks me to set up my new juicebox, and it takes a lot of tinkering to figure out how to log back in. What a mess. So how am I supposed to get any alerts around charging…? Please fix this awful app.

### 2/5 — Not great so far

*2022-05-09, version 2.28*

I installed my new JuiceBox charger yesterday. Charger works as expected, but there’s no owner’s manual, so no explanation of the status lights.

As for the app: I never received the confirmation email when registering, so I had to use Apple sign in to get the app going. The app keeps resetting my address to Mexico City ( I’m in the US), and won’t find my local electric utility, nor will it set the rates. I’m limited to tracking power usage, which is ok, but I’m missing a lot of functionality.

Hopefully the charger is better than the app.

### 1/5 — When you can login (which is rare), app is ok

*2022-05-09, version 2.28*

App constantly logs users out, and then it often does not work when trying to log back in. Plus, support from Enel X is pretty terrible. The EV JuceBox 40 is great. This app, however, is a major disappointment. With other competitors building better app experiences, Enel X needs to invest in rebuilding this app and making it a better experience.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — You had one job.

*2023-10-05*

An EVSE is supposed to charge your car when it’s cheap. That’s it.

Our Juicebox used to do this. But now, it only occasionally does so. Often it fails. Again and again. For months.

It charges when it is 4x the price and doesnt charge when it’s 1x the price.

If fails comically. The main screen will literally say that it’s waiting until the 11 pm time of use period… while at the same time showing in green that it is charging right now.

You can power cycle the Juicebox and delete and re-establish the profile until you are blue in the face. It sometimes works for a few days but then fails all over again.

The net result is you can’t plug it in when you get home and trust it to do its thing. It’s liable to start charging early and cost you peak prices on electricity. You have to babysit it, setting alarms at night to plug it in and double check that it’s charging.

Enel X, which bought Juicebox years ago simply does not have its act together as its steward. They took an excellent product and made it fail at its one job.

And support? Friendly, slow and unhelpful. They just don’t fix the problem.

Find another EVSE.

### 1/5 — App is a complete failure

*2023-07-15*

The old app did not have any problems but this month I was forced to change to this new app and it’s a complete failure. I just spent an hour on the phone with customer service and they were unable to correct the issue. My information from the previous app could not be updated. We were able to progress all the way through to entering the pin but then at that point we got another error! After 55 minutes and multiple attempts the customer service (who was very nice and helpful) said she has no more options and would contact me via email with a solution.

This glitch has caused the box to fail to charge twice this week. It is suppose to charge in the evening but in the morning on multiple occasions we have a dead car (low battery) do to the failure of the Juicebox and no way to make it charge because I can’t log into the app.

I am beyond frustrated with the product (Juicebox) because it fails to charge my car and the app that is a complete failure!

### 1/5 — It’s a dumb charger

*2023-02-22, version 2.28*

The charger only works if you don’t have to mess with the app. If you have it set so that you plug in and it charges then you’re all set. But if you want to mess with the settings so that it doesn’t charge during peak electricity prices or you want it to charge at a slower rate, then God be with you. There is no telling what it will do with those changes. I set it last night to only charge between 9 pm and 4 pm. The app itself says I have a 19 hour window for charging, but guess who can’t get to work this morning. The app apparently thinks that by limiting the time of charging I just mean that I never want to charge my car.

### 1/5 — Worse with each update?

*2023-02-06, version 2.28*

Now it won’t even let you login, just claims your password is incorrect even when it is not. Neat, hopefully the EVSE doesn’t fail due to the terrible web services.

### 1/5 — Do not believe online reviews

*2023-01-02, version 2.28*

Online reviews tricked me into buying the charger. I’m hoping you read this review before purchasing.
The app is virtually non-functional. Their server is unavailable most days of the month and the app does not respond. I opted for this charger over others, since it was so highly rated online. Now I’m convinced the online reviews are simply paid advertisements because there is no way someone who actually uses it would vouch for it. Stay away until they fix their buggy app and server.

### 1/5 — Worst purchase in a while

*2022-12-31, version 2.28*

Probably my biggest waste of 650 bucks in a while. Box is useless without wifi. Have 3 bars of wifi in my garage on phone, Alexa device and car. But box doesn’t pick up squat.
Can’t launch the app unless you have internet.
Porsche box works flawless but wanted a second station setup.

### 1/5 — I can’t get the app to work

*2022-12-03, version 2.28*

I bought the jeep level 2 charger from the jeep dealership. It turns out that it’s the juice box charger. It ha the worst app I’ve ever seen, nothing about it works, and can never use it to set up charging. I don’t understand y this company can’t it together if they want to be a player in the charger market

### 1/5 — Buggy and no longer supported

*2022-11-27, version 2.28*

This app is very buggy and other reviews state the same thing. The screen that shows charging time and graph needs work (the various screens lack names) and the table at the top shows charge times and amount. The graph below that table displays different times and the graph is unreadable. The app lacks details about firmware status. Most importantly the app provides no details about Wi-Fi connection, status and connection quality. There are a couple other minor issues as well. Overall the app needs rework to be more efficient and informative. The app was last updated over a year ago which indicates a lack of support. I would look at other companies that provide a supported app. If I could do it over again I would have bought a different companies EVSE. Unfortunately I am stuck with this after spending $600 on the device.

### 1/5 — can’t share with another user

*2022-11-04, version 2.28*

There are 2 electric vehicles in our house. Yet, for some reason, the only person who can access our account, and therefore use the app, is the person who registered the JuiceBox. So now, I am the only one who can use the app which means I get to look up the charging data for the “not my car” and I have to toggle between the 2 cars whenever the other person wants to charge. It’s such a simple fix and yet, here we are, 2 months later, with no fix. The app was the reason we got a JuiceBox - what a mistake.

### 1/5 — No Wi-Fi connectivity.

*2022-10-03, version 2.28*

This app will not connect my charger to Wi-Fi. Enel X tech told me that my Wi-Fi router in my living room won’t connect to the charger in the garage (which is odd because my phone can connect to my Wi-Fi network just fine from the garage). Yes l will qualify for the $500 utility rebate but l am not able to connect the Juicebox 48 to Wi-Fi. As long as it charges as a dumb charger l will be fine, but this product will not do what it’s claimed to do!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — No issues, good info

*2023-06-20*

I was very apprehensive after reading the reviews, but I’ve found the app to be stable and interesting. I don’t use time-of-use charging so perhaps I haven’t encountered buggy features. For me wifi isn’t even needed - but interesting to see how much energy I’ve used for each charge session - and it does that well.

### 5/5 — works fine

*2023-01-14, version 2.28*

After installing two smart chargers on the far side of my garage in a weak wifi area I found that internet connectivity was intermittent. This became a good reason to finally upgrade my home wireless network with one of the new mesh router systems. Now that my smart home has a reliable and strong wifi signal to all points on my property I find everything connected to my wireless system is more reliable. This includes the app functioning for my two juicebox 40 pro car chargers. After over two years of charging our two plugin hybrids I have no complaints at all concerning both the charger units and this app. I should add that I have put together an almost net zero energy system in my house with solar power and other bells and whistles. I am rather demanding of the interconnected equipment I use and I am satisfied with this app.

### 5/5 — The app is a little clunky

*2022-09-17, version 2.28*

My only issue is the app would not allow me to log in using gmail. So had to create an account with some crazy long password. I don’t understand why so much security. Anyways after that it was smooth sailing

### 5/5 — My go to charging app.

*2022-05-25, version 2.28*

Setup was clean and easy, no issues. Alerts and information for charging and the charger status come across right to my phone. A lot more accurate and bug free than my vehicles manufacturer information app that never works. App gives you a lot of detailed information to current and past charging history. Highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Set up with Roman

*2022-05-02, version 2.28*

I don’t know how the charger will work but set up with Roman was great! He was very patient and walked me through the process that was not working through the app. Very good customer service. Now, I hope the charger works.

### 5/5 — Juice box 32

*2021-08-24, version 2.28*

I have no issues, the app works for me and what need it to do. It lets me know when I need to plug in ( I set the time), I get notified when it starts charging and finished. The device is outdoors in exposed weather. I’m happy with my purchase (juicebox 32 plug-in)

### 5/5 — Net Zero Energy Homes

*2021-07-15, version 2.25*

I did a big home improvement Net Zero Energy project which included 6.8kwh of PV panels for generation and a 10 kWh Sonnen storage battery and energy management system. The Sonnen system provides power during Peak Time of Use to minimize my grid electric use. The software allows me to set several windows regarding charging and discharge. I also have a Juicebox to change my 30kwh Nissan Leaf. The Juicebox software let’s me set only one TOU time to avoid max rates. They need to add some additional time windows. Hardware and software have no problems in first year of use.

### 5/5 — Happy to save money

*2021-03-24, version 2.23*

I purchased theJuicebox40 through my utility using their rebate. All I had to do was email the utility with the serial of the unit and I know pay 5 cents a kWh during the overnight . It installed flawlessly, picked up WiFi quickly. I didn’t understand a few features with the app so I emailed tech support. I received an answer within a few hours not days. Their response answered all my questions and I love this product

### 4/5 — Seems Okay For Now

*2023-06-19*

I got my Juicebox charger back in November 2022 but didn’t download the app because of the terrible reviews. I saw there was an update a few weeks ago and decided to try downloading it. I had to reset the charger once using the breaker in order for it to connect to my home Wi-Fi but it has worked just fine since then and stayed connected. I did have to change the setting so that it would use the proper amount of amps as it initially was charging slowly. I was able to set the schedule for charging and it has functioned properly so far. The app isn’t particularly flashy or anything but it works.

### 4/5 — App works

*2022-05-31, version 2.28*

This is a good app, works fine, not sure why there are so many one-star reviews…..
