## What is Evergreen?

Evergreen is a tree-growing abstract strategy game where your goal is to build a lush ecosystem, planting seeds, growing trees, and placing other natural elements on your planet, trying to make it the greenest and most fertile of all. Play solo or compete against other players in multiplayer matches.

HOW TO PLAY

1. Pick a Biome card from a common pool to determine the area of your Planet you’re going to develop each round.

2. Grow your Trees, plant Bushes, and place Lakes to create a huge Forest, and use the power of Nature to gain extra Actions!

3. Concentrate your Trees in the most Fertile areas and let them collect Light without overshadowing each other to score points!

Each round you will choose a Biome card that allow you to develop on a specific biome of the board and activate its Power to grow even more trees. But even the cards you do NOT choose are just as important, since the least chosen biomes become more Fertile, and thus more valuable!

Try to keep your Trees close to each other to score points for your biggest Forest… but you also want them to collect as much Light as possible without shading each other, so be mindful of the position of the sun!

EXPANSIONS

The Pines and Cacti expansions add new plants that that interact with light and shadow in interesting ways: discover new forest-planning strategies to get the most points out of them!

Each modular expansion introduces a new Power. There must always be 6 Powers in the game, so if you want to play with a new Power, another must be removed. But you can play with more than 1 Expansion module at a time if you so desire.

MODES

Play solo against AI bots, or compete in local (pass and play) or online multiplayer to challenge players from all over the world! The online leaderboard is completely cross-platform!*

### 3/5 — Pines expansion is buggy

*2026-04-19*

The game is great. Love it as a quick 10 min filler. Recently got the Pines expansion. But it is buggy. The shadows haven’t been programmed properly. Unless it’s fixed, I can’t rate it higher. I hope the developers take notice and do something about it soon.

### 1/5 — UI Great. UX Horrible

*2025-10-11*

While the design itself causes intrigue and curiosity to download and pay for the game. It is equally sad that the makers forgot that any game requires its own learning curve.

By just add a guide doesn’t help you out. You require a tutorial to start with how to atleast play the game.

On top of that when i attempt to play the game. I try pressing based on what the “guide” states. But to my surprise..i get stuck on the first round.

Would recommend to download if you feel like charitable and wouldn’t mind wasting a few bucks.

### 4/5 — Hard to learn

*2025-09-15*

I have played the tutorial 3-4 times. I’ve played the physical copy of Photosynthesis and wanted to try out this new game vi app. There are too many icons and symbols forcing a player to have to memorize or guess what each icon means. I still don’t know what the sap does or the “powers” which may accumulate. This app is best for someone already familiar with the game. The tutorial or having some sort of helper aid in-game would be helpful.

### 4/5 — Hard to learn game from it

*2025-07-07*

App is beautifully designed but the rulebook and tutorial need a bit more depth. It would be nice to see the names of the active player vs an icon you have to click to. Also having a ? Next to symbols that explain what something is would be helpful. I forgot what some of the special powers are based on the symbol alone the first few play throughs.

### 4/5 — Fluid gameplay

*2025-04-26*

It's a splendid digital adaptation of the board game. The mechanics work exactly the same. It would be great if there was a low graphics mode to save battery. On my phone, the game drains power so fast that I sometimes cannot finish a single session. On the iPad, everything works alright.

### 2/5 — Evergreen: The Board Game

*2025-03-10*

Cannot play with friends via Game Center, need to create an account for some reason (oh wait, I know the reason—you wrote the game once for every platform—that write once ruin everywhere approach)

M4 iPad gets hot like crazy, nice optimization.

From time to time get cheating notifications out of the blue and can’t continue the game with people.

### 4/5 — Great adaptation but…

*2025-02-16*

The game does a great job at capturing the feel of the board game however it is too overpriced. I could see myself playing this for a very long time because of how well it plays though.

### 3/5 — Where are the card tips?

*2024-12-22*

I just finished the tutorial and am frustrated that I have no idea what any of the cards do. There are a bunch of icons on the cards, but no words. I’m basically choosing blindly and poking around the map in trial and error. Seems like a nice game, but would be better with a pop up explanation of what the symbols mean and what the card can do.

### 5/5 — Muito bom

*2024-08-18*
