They have doubled their price without adding any extra functionality that I use. For more than two years, they have not replied to a single customer service request of mine. I tried reaching out on numerous media platforms, email, phone, etc. ... crickets. 

Do not waste your money on them.

I have used Evernote since the beginning. I want to say I used it as early as 2011? But by 2016, I was a heavy user. I had EVERYTHING in there, from personal notes to alllll of my work notes. Most importantly, I had a series of nested journals, structured by month. I eventually paid the premium version for a number of years, but then I noticed glitches and things not synching correctly. Etc. But the scary thing was my old email address got compromised and I needed to update it, but I could not update the email address. Apparently, I had to email them and THEY had to update it, but no one would get back to me to validate the change. For the first time, I took a good hard look at my free Notes app on all of my Apple devices and realized they have come a long way. I still preferred what I had with Evernote (and again, I was a super user, using in all day long, every day. I had thousands of notes. Thousands of notes I would lose if I didn’t get the email address changed. I panicked and spend an entire night batching them into my (free) Notes account. I managed to save almost everything. For free. That was a few years ago and they may have fixed the email change problem, but it was so precarious to almost lose everything just for that….never again. And don’t even get me started on how  all the subscription models are like being pecked to death by a duck financially. Just no. Do I miss Evernote from time to time, when I wistfully see it as an option? Yes. But will I pay whatever horrific fee they are now charging to almost lose all of my notes because of a glitch like that? Nope. Sigh.

I’ve been using Evernote for YEARS. But the price increase is really hard for me to justify. Really don’t want to lose all my notes, but I am considering it.

I have never written a review for an app before but my experience with Evernote has inspired me. I have been a long time user of this app (before the pandemic) and the usability of this application has worsened tremendously. Several pop ups wanting you to fork over money every time you open the app. Evernote has deleted years upon years worth of my notes. Completely full of AI slop (I was using this app long before AI was everywhere). Please, do not install this app and please, please do not give them any of your money. Please do not rely on this app to keep your notes. I wish I could give zero stars.

Evernote’s strongest feature, when i first signed up, was its simplicity and ease of use. Today it is a cluttered mess with so many features that I, and I suspect most users, never use. Even the search is over-complicated and irritating. I would move tomorrow to a simple free service like Apple Notes if I could easily transfer my 1,000’s of pages of notes.

For many years I used this, I was an early user, and it had its bumps but it basically did what I needed. Which is take plain text notes on different topics and they were easily searchable within the note. Now it is so slow. I have a very long note. Just plain text. Entering new text is like entering text on a tv keyboard. Very slow to recognize the input. The search bar frequently pops you out when typing a search. It’s now a terrible app for my simple needs. They update it a lot with bug fixes and new cool AI features etc but this basic thing of entering text and searching is not what they are optimizing for anymore. Oh yeah I also pay $200/yr for the upgraded version. Help and customer service are useless.

I’ve never dealt with an app that tries to hawk pointless subscriptions and tries to trick you into hitting yes more than Evernote. Was so cool once upon a time but is now a joke. Also shows pointless ads with volume turned on (when your phone is muted) that you can’t click out of until it finishes playing. No thanks
