It's pretty bare bones, but easy to use and has the right amount of features so you aren't overwhelmed. Great for organizing and any basic note taking you want to do. I ended up switching to Notion and cancelling my Evernote paid subscription, but kept Evernote just for the notes I didn't end up transferring. They have officially burned all goodwill I had for this app by now spamming me with notifications to reactivate my paid subscription. I usually don't mind automated emails or the occasional notification for a flash sale, but I now get an unclosable pop-up prompting me to pick a paid plan every single time I open a note. Every single time. And the only option to close it is to press the "Remind Me Later" button. I'm looking for a new notes app to fully port my notes so I can delete this ridiculous app. Update: unskippable video ads on my NOTES APP? Wow! full access to my notes, emends, amends, analyzes and acts with utmost discretion and accuracy. This single feature increased the value of EN multiple times. Having a discussion with Claude to interrogate EN info is, for me, a whole new ballgame, Thanks EN TEAM. ===== 19mar26: sticking with this app because function are 99% consistent across portable devices and desktop. Considered migrating to OneNote, but ONx doesn’t maintain necessary features from iOS to MacOS. I Rely on this app to organize personal papers and items purchased. stability on iOS and MacOS are fine, and sync is spot on. =========Accidentally installed on iPad Mini-. At version 0.1, finding the combined shortcuts and Notebook view was a “tap” dance. Version 0.2 allows much quicker access to the pinned/favorites, but, “Recent” is gone- SORRY, “Recent” has reappeared on the “Shortcuts” side bar. App wide search-find is number 1 and fast- appreciate that improvement, reducing multiple tapping to locate notebook. Evernote seems to be releasing incremental improvements in rapid order. I’m holding on because I m a Home user with 1500 notes in a wide range of Notebooks. Here’s hoping the best for Evernote developers and we EndUsers. === older review, out of date. === I have used EN since 2010 and have subscribed to Premium (BIG air quotes) since 2012. I am not convinced that the developer uses his/her own app. I run EN on an iPhone 6+ with 128gb RAM. Always using the latest version of iOS AND EN. Always. Placing the selection bar is scatted/unresponsive and/or absent in MANY instances. Wastes TIME. Increases FRUSTRATION. Synchronizing with my MacMini (16gb RAM, 250gb SSD and LATEST OS/EN-not from AppStore) is similarly problematic. MULTIPLE instances of conflicts and duplication of notes when updated on EITHER platform. I try to NEVER have two instances of EN running on separate platform just for that reason. EGADS, this app can created the biggest FuBaR across devices in no time at all. At least EN has stopped freezing and quitting very often. I have over 800 notes and a TON of Pix and PDFs. I am, however, moving to OneNote, especially at work. Geeze ### 1/5 — Try a better option *2026-08-31, version 11.31.7* I’ve been using Evernote for 7 years (since 2019) as a paid professional service, and I have seen severe performance degradation over the last 2-3 years. I got a notice that they increased my yearly subscription price from $140 to $240 - on the same day I couldn’t get a note to open on my phone because of an aforementioned new performance issue. I didn’t mind the price increase alone, but Evernote’s service is now full of AI slop and unacceptable software development practices. For a replacement, I considered Joplin, Notesnook, and Obsidian. Notesnook is user friendly, boasts the same core features as Evernote without the slop, adds additional nice-to-have features like nesting notebooks, and the syncing is flawless between my devices. I would highly recommend you skip this buggy app that won’t be able to load a simple text note because it’s trying to AI-generate something you didn’t ask for. Instead, save a couple hundred dollars and go with a more reliable, functional, and quality service. ### 1/5 — $275 for a note app?! *2026-08-31, version 11.31.7* Are these people on crack?! $275 to use a note taking app. Pretty audacious for an app that has sync issues amongst other things especially when you need it the most. I think not. This isn’t even bad, it’s comical. We can live without it. ### 1/5 — Notes are not opening in my ipad pro, no costumer service *2026-08-30, version 11.31.7* I have been using Evernote for mare than 7 years for my meetings, sermon, etc. But for some reason notes are not opening in my new ipad pro. I have not found a costumer service phone or help to fix this. The alternative is a basic plan that requires elimination of notes for $99. It is time to say goodbye to Evernote. ### 1/5 — Do More for Free Elsewhere *2026-08-26, version 11.31.7* Found out I could do everything Evernote was doing for me on other apps like Joplin, UpNote, OneNote for free or a fraction of the unbelievable $250/year Evernote started to charge me. The UNREAL pricing finally forced me to migrate after years of use. Avoid this ridiculously priced app and get all the same features you need for free or very inexpensive elsewhere. It’s a truly unreasonable price and no longer worth it after the latest price hike. ### 1/5 — Finally quit *2026-08-26, version 11.31.7* User since 2011 & had to pay a subscription of $22 a month just to continue to access my old notes. I had 6 notebooks, 259 notes. Not heavy user at all. There is no ‘entry’ price. I think they only WANT enterprise customers. Do not waste your money on them. ### 2/5 — Can’t Trust With My Notes *2026-08-24, version 11.30.5* I have used Evernote since the beginning. I want to say I used it as early as 2011? But by 2016, I was a heavy user. I had EVERYTHING in there, from personal notes to alllll of my work notes. Most importantly, I had a series of nested journals, structured by month. I eventually paid the premium version for a number of years, but then I noticed glitches and things not synching correctly. Etc. But the scary thing was my old email address got compromised and I needed to update it, but I could not update the email address. Apparently, I had to email them and THEY had to update it, but no one would get back to me to validate the change. For the first time, I took a good hard look at my free Notes app on all of my Apple devices and realized they have come a long way. I still preferred what I had with Evernote (and again, I was a super user, using in all day long, every day. I had thousands of notes. Thousands of notes I would lose if I didn’t get the email address changed. I panicked and spend an entire night batching them into my (free) Notes account. I managed to save almost everything. For free. That was a few years ago and they may have fixed the email change problem, but it was so precarious to almost lose everything just for that….never again. And don’t even get me started on how all the subscription models are like being pecked to death by a duck financially. Just no. Do I miss Evernote from time to time, when I wistfully see it as an option? Yes. But will I pay whatever horrific fee they are now charging to almost lose all of my notes because of a glitch like that? Nope. I have been a long time user of this app (before the pandemic) and the usability of this application has worsened tremendously. Several pop ups wanting you to fork over money every time you open the app. Evernote has deleted years upon years worth of my notes. Completely full of AI slop (I was using this app long before AI was everywhere). Please, do not install this app and please, please do not give them any of your money. Please do not rely on this app to keep your notes. Over the years, the pressure to buy their product has gotten more and more. If you want to spend a bunch of money to rent their product (subscription) then it’s great. Now they need to pay for it so let’s whack the price up on the “advanced” plan and then put a cap of 1000 notes on the lower plan so loyal customers of many years who have >1000 notes but don’t need any enterprise or ai features still have to pay . So after more years than I care to imagine , I cancelled my subscription. If you want to do the same get Claude to export the data into Obsidian which is free , extensible and does what most people want - record notes ### 1/5 — Used to love this app until they eliminated my plan *2026-09-04, version 11.32.4* I loved using evernote as a personal notetaking, and pdf/picture saving of articles for all my personal data. Love having access to my digital filing cabinet wherever I am. Sorting notes into notebooks is awesome. The best part is being able to add and edit notes into the cloud without them being stored on my phone. BUT… then evernore was purchased by Bending Spoon and went to only supporting corporate needs with a bunch of features I don’t need or want at a cost that was originally $30/year and now is $250. I’d be willing to pay more than $30 for the old unlimited storage, note, notebooks to upload notes, lists, check lists, pdfs, and some features that others find useful for personal use. There are many other users with similar online comments about being abandoned by evernote and said they have moved to different apps. I find it hard to believe that the non-corporate customers are not a profitable group for evernote in addition to the more expansive plans. Now, we have to put up with an obnoxious ad! I am looking for a new service that is more responsive to customer requests. ### 1/5 — What used to be the best app is now the worst *2026-09-03, version 11.32.4* I have been using Evernote for well over 10 years and for the longest time it was my favorite app and when I used multiple times a day. Recently all of the new internal advertising pop-ups and videos have literally made the app completely unusable. This is now the biggest piece of junk, greasy used car salesman app on the market. I now have to go through the nightmare of moving all of my notes over to the basic note app on my phone and then I will be deleting Evernote and never looking back. While I find the basic note taking (all I really use it for) sufficient, the pushing of ads to get me to pay is relentless. I would have considered paying for a package, but reviews of those are terrible of late and there are mentions of steep price hikes of late. Only recently did they include ads while using the free version. That was ok because while annoying we could click out of them. The recent update is absolutely horrible.
