### 2/5 — Repetitive

*2025-02-02, version 2.0*

There’s no option for black people, just Indian and Muslim discrimination. I understand those are very pressing matters, however every scenario is exactly the same! Let’s mix it up with some creativity.

### 2/5 — I love racist people

*2024-01-27*

This game made me more racist

### 2/5 — Outdated and unrealistic in a pandering way

*2023-07-12, version 2.0*

I’ve played as all the characters, and found it interesting that 1, not only do I experience ALL of this, as a white man in Baltimore, but 2, I DONT have the community of support to tell me I don’t deserve it. Instead, I get an app that takes my life experiences, tells me I would only experience them if I weren’t white, and is over all a very outdated view of racism. If anything, this shows that racism has always been people choosing to make a big issue out of little things that everybody experiences. If that’s the point you wanted to make? Bravo. If not, I recommend you go back to the drawing board and figure out another way to capitalize on this continuing issue. Cuz you’re not the problem, we are 🙄.

### 3/5 — Cool app with some glitches

*2021-08-13, version 1.8*

I like the game and the purpose for it but the video and audio don’t work.

### 2/5 — Audio/video issues

*2021-07-02, version 1.8*

Agree with other user! Massive potential but the videos and audio aren’t working for some reason! Upsetting because it is such a necessary intervention

### 3/5 — Not user friendly

*2020-11-18, version 1.8*

Dark text in dark background makes it hard to read, videos won’t play, can’t get any audio or visual media to work. Very clunky and hard to use which is a shame because this app is such an important tool for all to use.

### 2/5 — No unique scenarios

*2019-07-13, version 1.6*

No matter what ethnicity/race you pick it shows the same scenarios! This app needs to update itself. Also the fact that a lot of trolls are flooding the reviews shows who the “real” racists are since this app never mentioned anything about Trump. Yet the fact some Trump supporters are offended by this app shows they have a need to defend their racist attitudes.Fact is white terrorism is a threat in this country and the facts plus historical accuracy don’t care about your feelings.

### 3/5 — I love this idea!

*2018-06-15, version 1.6*

I love the app and the ideas behind it. I would also like to give it five stars, but I can’t get the videos to play. I’ve been trying off and on for a while now. Please keep updating and trying to fix the bugs.

### 3/5 — Please fix

*2017-05-23, version 1.5.1*

Sound does not work on video or audio clips

### 4/5 — It's Pretty Good

*2015-06-18, version 1.4.0*

The app is good when it comes to raising awareness, but I have a few suggestions: give more reaction options, and after we choose tell us what would have been the best choice so we know how to react in real life.

### 1/5 — what a joke

*2015-01-04, version 1.4.0*

what a joke

### 1/5 — Socialist left-wing propoganda

*2014-10-30, version 1.3.0*

Honestly. This is the most unrealistic depiction of racism ever. I have had MANY people from the backgrounds depicted tell me it's ridiculous.

Sorry guys but it's NOT NORMAL for cars to drive an asian and yell out "go back to China"

It's also not normal for anyone on the bus to say to their 6yo son "oh don't sit near the Indian guy"

It just doesn't happen "everyday" as you insist.

A very very inaccurate depiction of racism in Australia. Fail.

### 3/5 — Not a bad idea but..

*2014-10-12, version 1.3.0*

It was an overall shallow experience. Minimal choice in reactions (angry reaction, no reaction or the "right" reaction), and the apps response to the wrong reactions were nothing but empty guilt trips.

Your choice in reaction meant nothing as there was no rewards or consequences for your choices.

Having to wait 24 hours to be able to complete the next day of choices felt unnecessary and drained some interest from the app each time.

Your choice in character was also irrelevant as everyday you experienced the same events of being a victim of racism except it simply changed the racial slur being used. I feel making the characters have completely different experiences more related to the discrimination they actually face would have made the app both more interesting and credible. Making the characters experience actually different and relevant would also make the 24 hour wait before you can use the app again more meaningful.

However with all that aside, the differentiating formats of the experience was a nice touch and the videos were for the most part well done and well acted.

At the end of the day "Everyday Racism" aims to help prevent racism in quite a juvenile and shallow way and does not achieve this purpose whatsoever.

### 1/5 — Reasonable idea, but...

*2014-10-08, version 1.2.0*

Why is it that everything in this game that doesn't bend to the minority mean racism is afoot? The developers need to have a long think as to whether they are trying to address or incite a racist attitude. Again, nice idea, but misses the mark by a mile & then some.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Gay

*2024-12-10, version 2.0*

Gay

### 1/5 — Boring

*2023-04-09, version 2.0*

Honestly it was boring

### 1/5 — Video and voice messages not playing.

*2023-03-13, version 2.0*

The video and voice media is not playing. The only interactions I can successfully do is the text or simple images.

### 1/5 — Something seems awfully racist about this

*2023-03-08, version 2.0*

Not inclusive for my white friends

### 1/5 — Not inclusive

*2021-12-08, version 2.0*

Zero example of anti white behavior

### 1/5 — Racist

*2021-01-13, version 1.8*

It was racist to me

### 1/5 — Bored

*2018-08-08, version 1.6*

Very boring.

### 1/5 — is this a joke

*2017-11-02, version 1.5.1*

as a minority, got a good laugh out of this

### 1/5 — Stuck on first activity

*2017-07-12, version 1.5.1*

No sound plays and won't let you advance without it. Was advised I needed latest system update which I have. Please fix!! We have assessments based on this app!

### 1/5 — Not Very Good

*2015-03-21, version 1.4.0*

Although some of the scenarios are quite racist, most are not.

My character must have been VERY sensitive and perceived racism in some cases when there was none.

At other times, it seemed he was very quick to label others as racist when there could have been any number of reasons for the way he was treated.

He wasn't invited to a party - Racist!!!!!

I was thoroughly disappointed with the lack of thought that went into the creation of this wishy-washy app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Not me in previous review

*2024-06-18, version 2.0*

I did not leave that review, that was my friend who is immature and thinks he is funny. I don’t support what he said. Sorry

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-03-22, version 2.0*

It’s a fantastic way to try and help people experience just some of the issues that many people in Australia experience.

### 5/5 — Eye opening

*2020-08-10*

This is a very interesting and helpful app. I think those upset by it are missing the point. This app forces me to take a few moments every day to reflect on my privilege. It is about understanding the fear and hopelessness instilled into BIPOC daily by structural and social racism. And if all you can think when you see the messages is “I’m white and I get dirty looks too!” then you are not understanding the meaning. This is not an app for people who are defensive or easily hurt in conversations about race. Anyway, 5/5 stars. Good work.

### 5/5 — Don’t listen to the comments

*2020-03-07, version 1.7*

Research shows people become easily offended when the see themselves In the scenario. What’s funny is the app isn’t targeted towards Americans at all. The creators are targeting issues in Australia, about racism towards the aboriginals and minorities. It just so happens that the same scenarios apply to American racism.

### 5/5 — incredible, racism is gone

### 5/5 — Not a joke.

*2015-02-03, version 1.4.0*

I have never been a racist, and am an avid supporter of minorities and ethnic/cultural groups, but this application really gives you an experience of what life is like in the eyes of these characters, and people not only in Australia, but worldwide too. Unfortunately it may never be enough to stop racism.

### 5/5 — powerful idea

*2014-09-20, version 1.2.0*

I really like the idea of this app and it did change my ideas slightly (although I agree with another reviewer, probably the people who download the app are not the people causing the problem). I was looking forward to playing as a different character to get another point of view but was disappointed to find almost all the scenarios are the same as the previous character. for further development Id like to see unique scenarios per character :-)

overall, great execution (no glitches on mine!) and powerful concept

### 5/5 — Finally

*2014-09-15, version 1.2.0*

Australia needs to view this. Tony Abbott needs to see this.

### 5/5 — Needs a slight change

*2014-09-13, version 1.2.0*

This App is a great idea but maybe needed a little more trialling. One of the statements baffled me and I wasn't sure how to respond. It didn't seem to be a racist comment but the responses implied it was. I took a middle choice and could have chosen better. Perhaps the developers are too close to the statements to see the ambiguity.

### 5/5 — Eye opener

*2014-09-12, version 1.2.0*

Great to see new initiatives trying to address the problem. Great game. Runs well. Hopefully it helps peoples acceptance of groups, different to their own.
