## What is EveryJot?

EveryJot is for writing something down before you forget it, with as little friction as possible.

It opens ready to write, with the keyboard already open and the cursor in place. No forms to fill in, no title to invent: the first line becomes the title by itself.

MARKDOWN, WITH A BAR YOU CHOOSE
Headings, bold, italic, underline, highlight, strikethrough, quotes, lists, checklists, code blocks, links and alignment.

Five formats sit above the keyboard: you pick which five out of thirteen and you reorder them by dragging. The rest stay one tap away in the panel, so none of them is lost.

NOTEBOOKS AND TAGS, TO FIND THINGS AGAIN
Every note can belong to a notebook and carry as many tags as you like. Your library shows them all, sorts them the way you prefer, filters them by notebook and by tag and searches inside the text.

Notes with an unfinished checklist appear in "To finish" by themselves and leave it when you tick the last box. The trash keeps what you delete for thirty days.

PROTECTED NOTES, GENUINELY ENCRYPTED
A protected note is not a note hidden behind a screen: its content is encrypted with AES-GCM and the key is derived from a PIN you choose. Anyone opening the database or the iCloud container would find ciphertext, not your words.

They open with Face ID, Touch ID or your PIN, whichever you prefer. The key syncs with your account, so a protected note can be read on your second iPhone too.

RECORD A MEETING INSIDE THE NOTE
The microphone is right next to the text you are writing: tap it and recording begins, even with the screen locked. Up to one hour and forty-nine minutes per recording.

The clip is attached to the note, next to the notes you typed during the recording. When you need it, one tap shares or exports it, so you can listen elsewhere or have it transcribed.

ATTACHMENTS
Images, PDFs, documents, any file up to 25 MB: attach it to the note and open it again with the iOS preview, without leaving the app.

Attachments follow the note to iCloud and if the note is protected they are encrypted like the text. Recordings included: there is no separate path for audio.

REMINDERS, SHARING, EXPORT
Link a note to a system reminder and find it in Apple's Reminders app, with its notification and with the text of the note already inside. Change the note and the reminder realigns by itself.

Share a note as a PDF or as a Markdown file, or export it as an image or a Word document. From your library you can export several notes at once.

A .md file arriving from Mail or Files opens with EveryJot and becomes a note straight away.

SHORTCUTS
Touch and hold the icon on your Home Screen to write a new note, start a recording or search your notes, without going through the app. A new note also opens from Control Centre, from the Action button, with a double tap on the back of your iPhone, or by asking Siri.

There is an iMessage extension too: pick a note and send it without leaving the conversation.

FORTY-FIVE COMBINATIONS
Fifteen colour palettes and three visual styles that combine with each other: the classic card, translucent glass, two-colour print. The icon on your Home Screen follows the palette you pick.

YOUR DATA IS YOURS
No account to create, no sign-up, no ads, no tracking. Your notes stay on your iPhone and sync with your own iCloud: whoever wrote the app cannot see them and has no way to.

If you want, you can lock the whole app with Face ID, Touch ID or your phone passcode.

ALSO
- Italian and English
- Works offline and syncs when the connection returns
- Large tap targets and text that holds up at large sizes

Free, no in-app purchases.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.1.2 — 2026-09-15

3.1.2
Updated the “Contact” page with the new “EveryPDF &Scan” app
Updated to support iOS 27 ;)

### 3.0 — 2026-09-09

WHAT'S NEW
- You can see the Markdown as you type: headings are large, bold text is bold, and code has its own font and background. The markup tags stay where they are, just clearer.
- This editor doesn’t rewrite what you’ve written: the text you save and export is the exact same Markdown as before, character for character. Even what you copy stays clean.
- The first line appears as the heading it already is, both as you type and in the preview, without anything being added to the text. When you export or copy the entire note, the heading remains as a heading even outside of EveryJot.
- In Settings > Appearance, there’s a new toggle: hide markers while writing. It’s off by default; when on, the markers disappear from all lines except the one you’re typing on.
- When searching within a note, all occurrences are highlighted at once, not just the one you’re on.
- Checkboxes are checked where you type, not just in the preview.

EVERYJOT IS ALSO A MAC APP
- Same app, same purchase: your iPhone and iPad notes are your Mac notes.
- Column view, full menus with shortcuts, and notes that open in their own window with a double-click. EveryJot also stays at the top of the screen: write a note without opening the window.
- Drag notes in and out; open and save files using system panels; Touch ID unlocks protected notes.
- Record audio within a note and link a reminder just like on the iPhone. A protected note written on the iPhone opens on the Mac: the encryption is the same.
- Requires a Mac with an Apple Silicon processor and macOS 15 Sequoia.

FIXES
- Inside a protected note that hasn’t been unlocked, a recording is no longer attached; previously, it would end up in the unencrypted note.

### 2.2.0 — 2026-08-30

- Fixed a bug with the inline code display where the highlight color was too similar to the background.
- Fixed all links and contact information.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-08-28

WHAT'S NEW
- Markdown Preview: Tap a button, and the note appears exactly as it will be displayed, not as you type it. Real headings, bold, italics, highlighting, quotes, code blocks, lists, and checkboxes. Tap again to return to the text.
- Your selection is saved per device: you can read on your iPad and write on your iPhone.
- Check boxes can be checked or unchecked directly from the preview, without returning to the text.
- Links open when you tap them, even without “https” at the beginning.
- Highlighted text has its own colored highlight, visible in the preview just as it will be in exported files.
- You can choose a notebook icon from all system icons, with a search field to find them. There used to be twelve; now there are 7719 icons.
- The color of a notebook or tag can be any color: hex code, sliders, or the eyedropper to pick it from a photo. If it’s hard to see, the app will let you know instead of changing it.
- The code button recognizes what you’ve selected: a word within a line becomes inline code; entire lines become a code block.
FIXES
- The “Other Formatting” panel no longer crashes the app.
- The cursor now follows the newly placed marker, instead of positioning itself before it.
- The code block in the preview is now visible; previously, its background was almost identical to that of the page.
- After selecting a code block, the entire block remains selected; the same applies to links.
- The quotation marks in the code no longer end in the middle of a line, with an empty box below them.
- On the iPhone, the row of colors for a notebook no longer extends beyond the edge, where the last dot used to be cut in half.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-08-25

EveryJot is now an iPad app too.

THREE COLUMNS
Where from, which notes, this note. You move from one note to another without losing sight of the list, and the note you have open stays open even when the window gets narrower.

DRAW BY HAND
With Apple Pencil or with a finger: the drawing becomes an attachment of the note, like a photo.

SEARCH INSIDE A NOTE
On both devices, not just on iPad: a bar tells you how many times the word appears and takes you from one to the next. With a hardware keyboard, Command-F.

DRAG AND DROP
Drag a note into a notebook, onto a tag or into the bin. Drag it out of the app and it becomes a Markdown file; drag a file into a note and it becomes an attachment.

TWENTY-SIX KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Command-N for a new note, Command-G for the next match, and the formatting keys where everyone has had them for thirty years.

With a trackpad, rows light up as the pointer passes and right-click opens the menu.
