## What is EVgauge?

EVgauge turns your iPhone into a proper instrument for your electric car. Plug a small OBD dongle into the socket under the dashboard, mount the phone, and see what the car is really doing.

LIVE POWER
A rev counter for an EV: power in kW or bhp, speed or estimated torque, with a needle that moves like the real thing and regen shown in green. Forty-nine designs: dials recreated from the instruments of the great marques, photographed housings and clean drawn dials, each with day and night versions, and your car maker's badge set into the dial.

MILES PER kWh, ALWAYS
Efficiency right now, this trip, the last 10 and 100 miles, and since your last charge. In miles or kilometres, with prices in your own currency.

RANGE YOU CAN TRUST
Energy left in the battery multiplied by how you have actually been driving, not a brochure figure, plus the range at the pace you are doing right now and at 50, 60 and 70 mph.

WILL I MAKE IT?
Type the miles to go and watch the battery you will arrive with, updating as you drive.

BATTERY HEALTH
The capacity your battery holds today against new, cell balance where the car reports it, a cold-battery note and a 12V battery warning.

EVERY TRIP IN FULL
Each drive saved with its distance, energy, regen, costs and timed runs, plus charts of speed, power, battery, temperature and height from start to finish. Choose extra readings to record with every trip.

CHARGING AND COSTS
Every charging session logged, with time to 80%. Cost per mile by week or month, the saving against a petrol car, and a business mileage log you can export as a spreadsheet.

CARPLAY AND LOCK SCREEN
Your own dashboard on the car's CarPlay screen: your chosen dial, small dials and readings laid out as boxes, plus a live tile with the main dial on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

YOUR OWN DASHBOARD
Choose up to three small dials and six tiles around the big dial, in the order you like, upright or with the phone on its side, and add new readings found by scanning your car. Timed 0–30, 0–60, 30–70 and 50–70 runs by GPS, with your best kept.

WHICH CARS
BYD Seal readings have been checked on a real car. Thirty-five more EVs are included from public data, including Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6, Kia EV6 and EV9, VW ID.4, Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe, MG ZS EV, Peugeot e-208 and Toyota Proace Electric, marked Unconfirmed until owners confirm them. If your car is not listed, the app can scan it and send us what it finds.

FREE AND PRO
The live kW dial in two looks, realistic range and battery level are free, so you can check EVgauge works with your car. EVgauge Pro unlocks everything else with one payment. No subscription.

YOU NEED A DONGLE
EVgauge talks to the car through an OBD dongle, sold separately. It must be Bluetooth LE (4.0 or newer) or Wi-Fi; older Bluetooth dongles do not work with iPhone. Tesla support is not available yet.

EVgauge only reads from your car. It never writes to it or changes any setting. It is not made, approved or endorsed by any car maker.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.3 — 2026-10-26

What's new in 1.1.3

- Fixes the car alarm going off after you lock the car with the dongle left plugged in. EVgauge now stops talking to the car once it's switched off, and picks up again when you switch it back on.
- The Lock Screen tile only shows while you're driving or charging, with a proper charging view (power, battery and time to 80%) instead of driving figures.
- If your phone closes the app mid-drive, opening it again carries on the same trip instead of starting a new one.
- New records: best range from a single charge and most miles on one charge.
- CarPlay redesigned: your dial and readings appear as a dashboard of boxes, with the dial nearest the driver, updating more smoothly. CarPlay also starts properly when the car opens the app before the phone does.
- Simpler first-time setup, all on one screen: pick your car, tap your dongle (EVgauge finds it and puts the likely one first), and you're straight on the dial.
- The app warns if the car connected doesn't match the one chosen.
- Range is steadier at the start of a drive, easing from your car's typical figure to your own driving over the first ten miles.
- Choose up to three small dials and six tiles, in the order you like, and record extra readings with every trip.
- Problem reports can include your email so we can reply, and the app remembers it.
- Tidier landscape layout, a cleaner Bowling Green dial and other small fixes.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-20

What's new in 1.1.1

- Trip pages: open any saved drive to see every figure, with charts of speed, power, battery, temperature and height.
- Record extra readings of your choice with each trip.
- Choose up to three small dials and six tiles, and set their order.
- CarPlay now shows your own dial and every reading you have picked.
- A cleaner landscape layout: the dial fills the screen, with a small menu button.
- Dials and needles re-centred across every design, and a clearer Bowling Green dial.
- More accurate battery capacity, and your dial choice is kept when the app restarts.
