I am looking forward to the upgrade. As an early years professional I highly recommend it to any one having to record evidence on the children in their care and it looks highly professional when sharing reports with parents and carers. The ease with which I would, in theory, be able to collate evidence to support App assessment is great. Does this app work in tandem with any other packages that would support the highlighting of a students text to show exactly how they have hit a target in a piece of writing for example? If not, this would be a welcome feature. Is this App going to be modified and include the new EYFS framework which, I think, comes in this Summer? I hope this review has been helpful and I will look again at this in school and give it a whirl with some actual evidence. Cheers, Yenson ### 4/5 — The best out there for EYLF by far. *2013-04-19, version 1.1* This App has the potential to be amazing. It is by far the best EYLF app available at this time. Additional features such as the ability to use more than one pic, change font size or choose layout would be ways to make this tool outstanding. However having said that I will continue to use it in its current clever form unless something better comes along. I love the way you have kept the framework word for word true to the paper copy. Something that can't be said for others out there and it's printability is a feature that is necessary for us. So I will DEFINATELY be passing this on to all work colleagues and singing this wonderful apps praises loudly. Well done people, this is just exactly what we educators needed to make our hectic lives a lot easier. ### 5/5 — Exactly what I've been waiting for. *2013-04-12, version 1.1* So intuitive and a perfect tool for evidencing anything that goes in in a classroom. My school have immediately adopted this app and made it fit our specific needs. Very few apps allow this to happen, there is always something that could be better. Not on this app. Amazing, many hours saved already. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Clunky and time consuming *2025-01-17, version 6.5.32* I’ve got RSI from poorly structured data entry. This app suffers from lack of consideration of which choices are necessary and which just add time and frustration. ### 1/5 — Glorified spreadsheet, yet not as good as a spreadsheet *2017-09-26, version 5.3* Multiple screens make actually releasing updates to parents, or assessing a child/class tedious. No parent version of the app, so they have to log onto a browser to access - something that is inconvenient for many parents. No automatic update email for parents, so they just have to check it periodically. Little flexibility in how children are assessed - all based on numbers of pieces of evidence rather than the quality of each piece (i.e. beginning, securing, mastery). If you want to do this, then it needs to be transferred to the 'assessment book' (another tedious step) when you are allowed to look at one child at a time, rather than the whole class. A number of colleagues have lost data input after hours of work. Feedback to the company is ignored - they really don't care if it works well once they have your school's money. Do not enter into a three year contract with them - make sure it has been thoroughly tested for a year by a range of staff first. It will be more user testing than Evidence do. ### 1/5 — Is this app active? No printing?? *2015-10-31, version 4.3* I get the feeling that this all has been forgotten. The tutorial and help isn't clear. There is no discernable way to print documents. I can't even find a way too share. Links to Facebook are dead links, the websites search is terrible. YET! The tool itself is great. But without a PRINT option, my evidence is useless. :/ 1 Star ### 1/5 — Great idea. Doesn't work. *2014-10-19, version 3.0* Crashes every single time. (On iPhone 6, latest software). Shame! ### 2/5 — Great app with a major bug *2023-06-19, version 6.5.18* I’ve been using this app for a number of years and it’s been brilliant. However, the recent iOS16 update has bugged the share feature making it frustratingly difficult to print or save to pages as the app closes down. The only way to bypass it is some long winded camera permission workaround. I was hoping this would of been fixed by now but it still hasn’t. ### 3/5 — More support needed *2018-02-27, version 5.4.8* I’ve tried many apps for Early Years programming and this is my preferred app. Unfortunately there have been times when updates either to the app or to the iOS on my phone which have resulted in a lot of work being lost. I understand these things happen but every time I have tried to contact the support team for this app I have received no help. The latest glitch means that I can no longer even use this app and will have to look for alternatives which is very disappointing. ### 3/5 — Great So Far *2013-05-22, version 1.3* This app looks great and I like the options to remove your logo, change fonts etc. but we really need it to include the australian curriculum as well. ### 3/5 — Child care worker *2013-04-01, version 1.1* This app is a wonderful idea with great potential. Working in long day care this app will save time and take the stress away. As it is new some tweaking needs to be done. But defiantly recommend it. ### 4/5 — Why *2026-05-25, version 6.5.38* I can’t make a group it closes app right up! ### 4/5 — Hilary's Childminder *2014-10-08, version 2.9* I think the app is good and a very quick way to write up an observation, when you get to grips with how it works and learn the steps you need to do to make sure it saves etc as you sometimes find you loose all info just added if you miss a step. I like that the photos can be added, EYFS and child's name is already in the memory and easy to fine/add. The only real negative is that I have had to right a simple step by step guide for the other staff to follow as there does seem to be the odd pGe/step that is extra therefore can be confusing to what you need to do next. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Beyond excellent *2021-06-27, version 6.5.3* I rave about this app to any teacher I know, it is brilliant, especially for pupils with SEND as any targets can be inputted and assessed against. It is simple to use and makes observation, assessment and next steps planning really easy! ### 5/5 — Paperwork made easy!!! *2015-08-07, version 3.5* I would highly recommend this app to anyone. Having tried out a variety of apps to make nursery paperwork easier I have found this one to be the easiest to use. It gives you access to a variety of frameworks while also allowing you to easily create your own. Observation are quick and easy to record allowing you to add photos, observations, tag children, link up to your chosen framework, to name a few. The app does all the work for you by linking observations etc to learners profiles. You can even make up tracker sheets. All I can say is I wish I had found it sooner and it would have saved me a mountain of paperwork time!! Huge thanks to Alan for helping with any questions I've had. We searched plenty of apps, before choosing this one. This app does it all, really simple to use and saves hours of admin time. Now you can join in play with the children and do observations. ### 5/5 — AMAZING app for simplifying documentation *2014-02-20* I've never written a review before now but I just had to write one for this app. I can't say enough incredible things about it! It is easy to use, the updates are frequent and they are always improving and making an already amazing app even better. Love the new update that displays how many pieces of Evidence you have for each student. I had been thinking that I would love that feature and then Bam! It was here. The ability to quickly take photos of my students' learning 'in action', add a comment or even scribe what they are discussing amongst themselves is amazing. Linking the learning to the curriculum within the app makes it even better. To have it all organized in one place that is so easily published or accessible for assessments has made tracking and documenting student learning so meaningful and authentic for me and my students. We can go back and reflect on their learning together by viewing a Learning Journey, or I can print out a grid and use the info for reporting. So easy! The tech support from Gary has been overwhelmingly amazing. Fast replies and always very willing to help troubleshoot when I was starting out. I teach Senior Kindergarten in a play-based learning environment and this app makes it so easy to document my students' learning all without interrupting the rich learning that is taking place through play.
