### 3/5 — Stop with the pop ups!

*2026-08-23, version 5.0.6*

I love this app but the amount of times a pop up appears upon me opening the app is crazy. I barely start to type in the product I’m searching for and a new box appears. Chill, we love you and we are using you to make our lives healthier. Cut back on the interruptions while we do this, please!

### 2/5 — Fragrance approved?

*2026-08-21, version 5.0.6*

Why are products like Attitude being approved when they have fragrance listed in their ingredient list??

### 3/5 — Love the idea

*2026-08-20, version 5.0.6*

Most products I scan cannot be found. A few can be found if I physically type it in , but the app needs a lot of work and information input.

### 4/5 — A few recommendations

*2026-08-17, version 5.0.6*

I do love this app however I do have a few recommendations to implement into the app to make it even better

• Manual barcode entry (sometimes I’m searching online and want to know about a product that isn’t in the database yet)

• Specific ingredient filters, not just broad categories. For example, I would like to filter out products that have phenoxyethanol or sodium laureth sulfate specifically.

• More broad filter options, like the ability to filter out or prioritize ingredients that aren’t/are malassezia safe.

• Still show the ingredient ratings for EWG Verified products. The ones verified just show as a list and you have to tap them to figure out their score.

### 4/5 — Great info

*2026-08-15, version 5.0.6*

Can look for brands, high or low ratings. Did not find a few items but pretty complete enough to choose healthy foods.

### 3/5 — Still a ways to go

*2026-08-14, version 5.0.6*

I tried one day of premium and decided I can’t warrant the cost. This app has phenomenal potential and critical information, but it has a long ways to go until it will be truly meaningful for me. Out of the ten common items I scanned in my house, one was in the database. I’m happy to help build the database, but I’m not going to pay to do the work myself 😅 Really looking forward to future iterations because this could be my go-to resource.

This app is so helpful and easy to use.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2026-08-05, version 5.0.5*

Has a lot of good info, most the things I’ve scanned aren’t in their system so I’ve had to enter them in myself which is a bit annoying. Other than that, this app is great and incredibly informative!

### 5/5 — So helpful

*2026-08-04, version 5.0.5*

I only buy products that are in the app with the best score because I can feel the difference in my body. Thanks for that!

### 4/5 — Wish there were half stars…

*2026-08-03, version 5.0.5*

I’ve been using this app for about a decade and the recent upgrades are appreciated!…I love that EWG not only rates for human health, but also dangers to the environment so I can factor that in to my decision-making… there are products not in here, of course but that isn’t the app, that’s an issue with how many products are out there and there being only so much time to review and add stuff, but you can suggest items and there’s already a large number of products. If you see that all the XYZ products by a brand have a certain rating you can look to see what they have in common and check to see if the item you were hoping to find has the same ingredients and make an educated guess….
I would appreciate the filters being a drop-down so I can search easier (particularly brands) and some extra filters (like to filter and/or sort by fragrance or ingredient), but I may one of the few who would want that…unfortunately, there are a lot of dupes of products and sometimes the formulation year is noted in an obvious place, but otherwise you have to go in to the product to scroll down to see when that product was most recently available to get an idea for which formulation you have. I don’t know if this would be app design, people responsible for updates or just better need for oversight. It’s DEFINITELY not a deal breaker (yeah, I use the free version), but would make my searches easier and less time consuming

### 5/5 — Great resource

*2026-08-03, version 5.0.5*

This is a great resource as I switch to nontoxic healthier products. I use it to lookup everything I buy.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-07-08, version 5.0.4*

I scanned about 50 items at Walmart and it had about 5 to 10% of them

### 1/5 — Bug

*2026-07-02, version 5.0.4*

It won’t let me click on certain recommended products and says “error occurred”. Please fix this!

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2026-06-23, version 5.0.4*

Doesn’t scan

### 1/5 — Rating seems to be flawed calculations.

*2026-06-19*

I had high hopes for this app on helping me make good choices for my family after seeing it when reading about the “dirty dozen” list. With strawberries at #1 on the list I was curious how organic strawberries were. Driscolls organic strawberries were 1/low hazard. But then I noticed driscolls strawberries were 1.5/low hazard! And then when you click through it notes in the negatives #1 in the dirty dozen list. Why would it be rated low hazard if it’s a high hazard per their own list!

I also looked up a few varieties of all purpose spray and noticed the kind I bought was a high hazard but a different fragrance was low hazard. Turns out the other fragrance wasn’t better, it was just that those items weren’t rated, so the rating was assumingly based on the one category that was rated.

In neither case can I trust the rating this app provides.

**Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. Our team would like to learn more, so please contact us at support@ewg.org so we can follow up directly.

### 1/5 — TOO BAD IT DOESN’T WORK…

*2026-06-17, version 5.0.4*

EWG was the first company that gave you a rating of beauty products. Now there’s a lot more tho they all give you different results which is very confusing.
Anyway, this EWG app is now the worst of all, it just doesn’t work. Only 1 out 20 things you scan will have a rating but from 2016. Really?? Also their camera doesn’t zoom so if the barcode is small again it won’t work.
I wish they charged but made their database work as it should . For now it’s just useless. I switched to yuka and oasis.

### 1/5 — Driscolls

*2026-05-23, version 5.0.4*

How are driscolls berries well rated when there are such high known pesticide exposures?

### 1/5 — Disappointed user

*2026-05-18, version 5.0.4*

This app used to be great, not sure what happened, I can no longer find rating for products I’m interested in.
You make it so difficult to look up anything, and constantly bombard me with requests for donations, which makes me very skeptical of your true motives. I am retired and live on a fixed income and can not afford to donate, but I did like to come on here to be able to make healthier choices. I’m very disappointed in what this site has evolved into.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-05-18, version 5.0.4*

The upgrade to “premium” is a huge disappointment. It does not work. Cannot search for products cannot scan a barcode as promised. It remains in a frozen state. Have tried for several days on my iPad to get it to work - but no luck !! Original app on my iPhone still works just fine.

### 1/5 — Incomplete

*2026-04-18, version 5.0.3*

OST products I use aren’t listed very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Wondering if this is correct

*2026-04-14, version 5.0.3*

I looked up a sunscreen that was scored a 7 but each individual gradient was scored a 1. Wondering how many typos there are.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The scan option is so Easy!

*2026-08-24, version 5.0.6*

Before I purchase anything body or personal care, I scan on the app to double check the rating. This app makes it so easy to make sure I’m not using anything harmful on my body.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-24, version 5.0.4*

Great app! Highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — Use it all the time

*2026-08-23, version 5.0.6*

### 5/5 — Love this app

### 5/5 — Must-have app for low tox living

*2026-08-20, version 5.0.6*

Been using this app for a very long time and throughout my low tox journey to find nontoxic products and read various articles on clean water and dirty dozen produce.

### 5/5 — Excellent resource

*2026-08-16, version 5.0.6*

I try to check every health and beauty product I purchase. You are the first test!

### 5/5 — Very Helpful App

*2026-08-11, version 5.0.6*

Useful to search or scan products in my journey to using more clean products

### 5/5 — Thankful

*2026-08-11, version 5.0.5*

I appreciate this site in their posting of products allowing me to make the best decisions for my families health !!

### 5/5 — Objective Review

*2026-08-10, version 5.0.5*

This app gives you a detailed/concise (clear and precise) explanation (its ingredients and how/ why it is safe or harmful/toxic ) on any product that you might use on your body and will come in contact with your body. It is reliable and keeps me safe in terms of helps me avoid brands that just only want your money but don’t care if their products harm your body in the future.
