### 4/5 — Uybh

*2015-11-01, version 2.8.2*

Show vocabs in sentence

### 3/5 — Has merit

*2014-06-20, version 2.7.0*

I am a professor of literacy and I reviewed this app for possible use in adult basic literacy. The format of this is clean and appealing, which suits adult learning. I applaud that two examples of context are included. I could not figure out how to create a study set. Sound quality is excellent.
The problem, however, is that the limited word list is quite sophisticated for struggling learners. I would hope to find some choices in word lists in the future. Also, it is not logical to choose words for study based on parts of speech. People do not learn words that way. There is potential here, with some more development.

### 4/5 — Hoping for more in next update

*2012-06-23, version 2.3.0*

This is a nice app. My only disappointment is that the app doesn't allow users to add words and expand their study material. As I come across words in my day-to-day activities, it would be a huge plus to have the ability to add them to the app as a reminder to study them later. Maybe in the next update?

### 5/5 — Best

*2012-06-05, version 2.2.0*

I wanted to get a better vocabulary and this helped like crazy! I'm smarter and it's just the best! Must have👍👍

### 3/5 — Price is OK...there are better alternatives

*2012-05-21, version 2.2.0*

Better than Kaplan's! Princeton Reviews is ok, but VocabMatters gives you more words for you dollars. Plus it has a game mode and looks snappy.

### 5/5 — Absolutely magnificently fantasticly fabulous

*2012-05-19*

### 3/5 — Great but needs some improvements

*2012-05-11, version 2.2.0*

Its a great app for the most part. Few complaints/ suggestions: the words repeat way too often ( makes me question if the app even has 100 words, would like to be able to add my own words, and it would be helpful to include page numbers when reviewing.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2012-04-24, version 2.1.0*

But hopefully they add the whole dictionary.

### 4/5 — It's ard

*2012-03-09, version 2.1.0*

This jawn tough until you master the 100 words

### 5/5 — Satisfied

*2012-03-08, version 2.1.0*

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2012-03-03, version 2.1.0*

Really enjoyed learning new vocabulary on this app
I love it! Keep up the good work:))))))))))))))

### 5/5 — Great idea

*2012-02-16, version 2.1.0*

This is a great idea but could be better with another 100 or 200 words.

### 5/5 — Yo

*2012-01-21, version 2.1.0*

Dude holy frog! This app is so tight, its like ice cream :D personally I feel a great deal of affection towards it. If I wasnt you I wouldn't not unfetteredly get this app! But only on the weekend. < see that review?! Said like a boss ;)

### 5/5 — Simple and efficient

*2012-01-03, version 2.1.0*

Great free app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can't use it without another dictionary app!

*2017-07-15, version 3.6.1*

I'm more confused with the explanations, also the example sentences are unclear and obscure. Can't use it without checking words in other apps.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2016-05-03, version 3.1.0*

Will not open and always crashes.

### 1/5 — No words

*2016-03-22, version 3.1.0*

The first two words I searched for were not found (hegemonic and parochial). I didn't bother searching for any more and have deleted the app.

### 1/5 — Freezes up

*2010-01-02, version 0*

Don't bother.…

### 2/5 — Good

*2013-03-24, version 2.5.0*

Good

### 2/5 — Good idea, but...

*2012-01-26, version 2.1.0*

This is afford idea, but the app only has 100 words and I already know most of them. It'd be awesome if they'd allow you to add you own words.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2012-01-10, version 2.1.0*

One cannot add words of our own! Is there an upgrade we can buy?

### 2/5 — What happened

*2011-07-11, version 1.9.0*

This app used to work well.
Minimum of crashes. Now crashes often. Frustrating. I will try again after next update.

### 2/5 — Incorrect pronunciations

*2011-05-27, version 1.9.0*

Can't complain considering the app's free, BUT, be weary of the pronunciations. "Chicanery" without a long "a", or "approbation" with a long "o"? Come on! Whoever recorded the pronunciations must have been seeing many of these words for the first time and couldn't be bothered with diacritical marks.

### 2/5 — Incorrect definitions

*2011-05-05, version 1.9.0*

There are some definitions which do not match the part of speech. For example "wan" is an adjective yet the definition, "to become pale" defines a verb.

### 5/5 — Words are cool

*2016-11-17, version 3.5.0*

*2016-01-17, version 3.0.0*

*2015-07-29, version 2.8.2*

I'm currently a highschooler, and I can't emphasize how much this app has helped build my vocabulary to surpass well on every English assignment. Wish you guys would add more words now, though. Still amazing!

### 5/5 — Resourceful applications.

*2015-04-26, version 2.8.2*

I found that I had a limited vocabulary. In the attempts to learn some new words I gave this app a try. This app is quite resourceful and filled with uncommon diction. I enjoyed using it.

### 5/5 — Parent

*2013-03-13, version 2.5.0*

I knew this was a great app as soon as my teenager looked at it for 1 second, grunted, and quickly turned to the One Direction quiz instead. Seriously, I haven't found a better, more diverse vocabulary format yet.

### 5/5 — Helpful
