## What is Exempt?

Exempt is an app that makes customs declaration simple by enabling all returning residents and visitors that travel to the Bahamas, to save time during the mandatory declaration process with Bahamas Customs, at all Bahamian Ports of Entry. Also, take advantage of its enhanced features, such as the Shopping List, Flight Tracker and City Guide.

HOW EXEMPT WORKS:

Download from IOS App Store
Create an account with secure login that stores your profile for future use
Scan passport information directly into the app
Add minor(s) to your account IF you do not wish to create separate accounts for them
Select C17 Form for Accompanied Baggage (complete a new C17 form each time you travel and have to declare)
Enter Travel Information (enter new flight information each time you travel)
Add any additional passengers traveling with you if you are declaring together, but NOTE: additional passengers must create an account and complete their profile before being added as an additional passenger on another account.
Upload receipts for all items being declared
Enter Baggage information, this includes:
Adding each item being declared onto your C17 form
(Save items to your shopping list for future declarations if you choose to)
Choose your Exemption Status (whether or not you are applying an Exemption)
Accept the Declaration Terms
Calculate duty once your C17 form is complete with all items added
Save the C17 form, which will generate a Mobile Passport QR Code to be scanned upon inspection
You will then have the option to:
1- Submit your C17 Declaration form to Customs now (from anywhere in the world before arrival) and pay the cashier upon arrival -OR-
2- Prepay any duties owed through the app via debit/credit card now (from anywhere in the world before arrival) or upon arrival
Review your receipt to ensure everything is correct
Collect your baggage, proceed to the Customs Inspection area and
present your Mobile Passport QR Code to the Customs Officer
Once Inspection is complete, exit Customs Inspection area

Initially I had trouble with the password field and it was that the auto-gen password is too long. Truncating the password solved the issue.

After slogging my way through a very buggy app, told upon arrival it is not valid. Scam? Or just a waste of time?

User forced to scan passport even though details are in the system already. The ability to enter details here manually, does not work. After scanning and putting the information in, the app comes back with an error that there is something wrong with the details entered vs the information already in the system. This app needs a lot more testing.

In addition to on going problems with random errors, for instance you used to be able to add the same passenger as many times as you want, the list of item missing key items, but some categories are useless. 
After latest “update” I cannot use the app at all as it requires a recovery pin… the pin never existed…. It’s hard to recover access using pin that doesn’t exist…. any other half decent apps have a process of recovering via email…. This one doesn’t, it is stuck in a loop of “recovery”. I think one of the current problems in the process is - after you scan the passport it has mandatory fields like address and email that user needs to fill out, however email field doesn’t allow typing and as such, you can never complete the form.
Perhaps, before releasing an update, it should be tested. Anyways, current version doesn’t work at all and overall this app doesn’t deserve even 1 star.

Doesn’t work the app constantly crashes it’s asking me to update my information but I can’t type anything in the fields. The scan function doesn’t work. What an all around mess.

Provided all information necessary for everyone with me twice! Reached the Bahamas only to find out this app was useless - and was forced to waste time filling out paperwork. 
No code anywhere in the airport even if someone where to of asked, therefore rendering the app useless because without the code the information on the form you’ve supplied isn’t accessible.

The idea is good but execution is poor. The app is not intuitive at all and it seems like it was built by someone who is just learning to build apps and this was their first draft.

The app has lots of bugs with lack of functionality in the drop down menus. Scanning passport does not upload all information. The country field uploads but you are asked to re-enter. Additional traveler information added but unable to verify information and then some.
