## What is EXIF.ER?

Give your photos and videos names that tell you when they were taken. EXIF.ER reads capture dates from EXIF and video metadata to create filenames you can sort across devices and backups.

Choose photos and videos from your library to export renamed copies to a folder. Your library originals stay in place. In folder mode, rename files in place or copy them to an output folder. Add an optional tag and group results in a subfolder.

Choose an ISO-style, regional, or compact date format. Control which time zone is used and save frequently used tags. Preview folder filenames before starting. If a capture date is missing, choose whether to skip the file or use its file creation date.

Follow progress, review recent operations, and share error reports with explanations for skipped or unavailable files. Photos exports process multiple items at once; speed depends on file size, storage, and downloads.

Renaming runs on your device without re-encoding: media quality and metadata are preserved. EXIF.ER does not upload your media or track you. Media stored only in iCloud is downloaded through Apple first. For Live Photos and RAW+JPEG pairs selected from Photos, only the main photo or video is exported.

Free to use, with no ads or subscriptions. Optional tips support development and unlock no features.

EXIF.ER 3.0 brings a fresh look and more control over your files:

- New interface: A redesigned home screen and clearer setup, progress, and results make each job easier to follow.
- Filename preview: See the new filenames before you rename a folder. Check the changes, then start.
- Faster exports and retries: Photos exports now process several items at once. Cancel when you need to, then retry the items left unfinished.
- Date controls: Choose the time zone for filenames. Files without a capture date are skipped by default; using the file creation date is your choice.
- Clearer error reports: Error reports group problems by cause, explain what to try next, and can be shared. Unreadable files are no longer confused with files that simply lack a capture date.
- 18 languages: EXIF.ER now speaks 18 languages, with localized date wording and better right-to-left layouts.
- Feedback and optional tips: Send feedback from the app, or leave an optional tip to support development. Every feature stays free.
