### 5/5 — The Super-Butterfly!

*2025-03-06*

I am 24 years in practice, not a fresh grad, so I have a little experience with bedside US. This pocket POCUS is what the IQ3 should have been. It has better clarity in cardiac views, but even more for my rural hospitalist/ICU practice, the ability to get a quick LVEF is huge. We don’t have Echo on weekends or holidays. So being able to find out someone’s EF went from 45 six months ago to 15-20 now, could really facilitate early transfer. And the stroke volume will be awesome with ICU patients and fluid responsiveness or not.

As to the app- it is fast and easy to learn. I had initial hiccups with it not connecting to the device, but was probably a dirty socket connection problem since then it has worked fine. If you’ve used any touch screen POCUS, it is easy to figure out.

My wish list:
- an option to set it to go straight into Scan mode and skip the records choice page.
- VExUS scoring
- TAPSE automated measurement for rapid RV function assessment
- a little more clarity in Lung mode. So far, Butterfly still rules for rapidly finding A lines.

Comparison to VSCAN and Sonosite- those still have best pocket POCUS image, due to being crystal based. BUT they are limited in organs to their one or two heads. This is catching up on image, and like Butterfly, can scan the whole body, which is golden for me. Some weeks I scan as many bladders and kidneys as hearts, and the occasional joint.

Conclusion- Exo has taken the Butterfly form factor to the next level. I hope they keep it up- because Samsung will be nipping at their heels!

### 1/5 — Terrible 1st time experience

*2025-03-06*

When I finally got the app to let me past the login, I can’t get it to actual scanning mode. Just records.
When using a tool, it needs to start in WORKING mode, not be stuck in stupid records mode. If it doesn’t get better than this quickly, I’ll send the Iris back for yet another Butterfly!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2024-10-04*

Awesome easy to use UI and app experience over all. Very well thought out workflow.

### 5/5 — Amazing interface for a great device

*2023-12-22*

This app works seamlessly with my probe and it’s intuitive. I can easily switch between imaging modes, adjust contrast and the ultra wide angle is incredible. Love it. Excited about where Exo is taking ultrasound!
