I am just given an error message when I try to open my bank account! I completed all the verifications and just need to activate my bank account but it won’t let me!! ### 1/5 — Support *2026-07-23* the app is ok, the problem is customer service and actually being able to use your blocked money! It was urgent for me. Now they don't work due to holiday. If you're saying you verify in one business day, you need to do so. ### 1/5 — Stay away from Expatrio to be happy *2025-12-02, version 3.4.5* Don’t create an Expatrio account. It is really big regret. And until your 12 months finish they at least take 1000 Euro from you. Account charge, creating account charge, tax, monthly charge, buffer charge, charge charge charge. Once you out money in their hand they just find unreasonable ways to cut of your money. And also they are really bad at costumer service. When you have problems you are stressing on your side but they answer you only via mails which takes weeks and, the answer going to be completely irrelevant to your question and problem. The only thing I can recommend you about Expatrio is stay away from it to be happy. Otherwise you will stress a lot suffer a lot and lose a lot money. They charge 69 twice for nothing. When l asked them about reason they answer me weeks later and says sorry it can happen sometimes. And sent my money back. I mean you need to awake and count all the penny you have otherwise they are stealing from you. I have conversations mails as a proof if in case they will deny what l am saying here ### 1/5 — Beware future students & sponsors before using Expatrio for blocked account *2025-12-01* I am writing this review as a warning to any family member, parent, or sponsor planning to fund a student's blocked account through Expatrio. My experience with this company has been deeply unprofessional, financially draining, and psychologically exhausting. I transferred over €12,000 to support my sibling’s education in Germany. The funding process was dangerously easy—they accepted my money instantly without a single question. However, getting that money refunded has become a month-long nightmare of incompetence. The "Bait and Switch" Experience: Expatrio is happy to take third-party funds (via Wise/Wells Fargo) to open an account, but when it comes time to refund that exact same money to the original source, they suddenly feign blindness. Why This Has Been Torture: For over 30 days, my sibling and I have been battling their support team to simply return my own money to me. * Forensic Proof Ignored: I have provided a complete, verifiable audit trail. I submitted my Wells Fargo bank statements side-by-side with the Wise transfer receipts. The dates match exactly. The amounts ($3,000 per transaction) match exactly. My name and address are on both documents. * Incompetent Review Process: Despite providing a "1:1 correlation" where I even highlighted the specific line items in yellow, their team repeatedly replies with generic copy-paste rejections claiming "insufficient documents" or that "references don't match." It feels like no one is actually reading the files we upload. * Gaslighting: They keep telling us to "refund to the student's personal account for simplicity," completely ignoring our repeated explanations that this is not an option for us. The Bottom Line: This company operates with a double standard: Zero scrutiny when taking your money, maximum obstruction when returning it. We are not asking for a favor; we are asking for them to read standard financial documents (Bank Statement + Transfer Receipt) that prove the money came from me. If you are a parent or sibling funding a student, do not use Expatrio. They will hold your significant capital hostage behind a wall of robotic support emails. We are now facing severe financial strain because they refuse to acknowledge plain evidence. To Expatrio Management: Review case. Stop hiding behind "insufficient docs" and look at the evidence provided. Release my funds. ### 1/5 — Worst Experience EVER!! *2025-11-28, version 3.4.5* In my personal experience, Expatrio’s entire verification and activation process has been needlessly complicated, buggy, and incredibly frustrating. What should be a simple setup ends up taking days or even weeks because of how poorly their systems are built. The video verification was a disaster. The agent could not hear me, forcing me to restart the process several times. When I finally managed to complete it, my account still didn’t update. I had to redo the whole thing more than once just to get it to show as completed. Then came the document upload. You would think it would take a few minutes to verify your documents, but instead it takes days without any clear communication while you’re stuck waiting. The device pairing is where things completely fall apart. No matter how accurately you enter your information, the pairing simply does not work. At one point it even said my device was successfully paired, only for it to revert back to not paired the next time I logged in. It honestly feels like the entire platform is held together with DUCT TAPE AND LUCK. Customer service is slow and unhelpful. When they finally respond, they just repeat basic information you can already find on their website while ignoring the actual issue you’re dealing with. It feels like they are not properly reading your messages. Overall, the whole process has been incredibly disappointing and stressful. Expatrio’s systems are unreliable, their app is broken, and their support is ineffective.
