### 4/5 — Overall good pregnancy workout app

*2025-04-14, version 1.6.9*

Have been using the app for several weeks in second trimester and am glad to have found it. Solid exercises with clear guidance and visuals. I just wish there were more modifications offered. What causal pregnant exerciser has a door anchor?! Not necessary, there are plenty of modifications possible with resistance bands but they’re not offered. Also a lot of jumping, which isn’t comfortable for lots of preggos. On the whole though I recommend, hope they can make some of these simple tweaks to make it even better!

### 4/5 — Works outs are great! App has some small glitches.

*2025-04-14*

I appreciate the exercises and that they feel thought out and intentional to prepare my body for pregnancy, labor, and birth. I feel confident in their safety and effectiveness based on the developers’ experience as well as consult of other physiology/training experts I have consulted. This was even recommended to me by one. It begins with higher intensity which I appreciate as an athlete but transitions into slower movements with less/no jumping as the weeks progress. It is of course up to each mama to determine what her body can handle at a give time but I appreciate that it does still offer a challenging workout. Additionally, it forces me to focus on aspects I won’t normally like breath work which is essential to pelvic floor health.
The app does have some glitches such as certain videos having trouble or but for me it is worth the trade off knowing I’m getting quality workouts.

### 5/5 — Life saver

*2024-08-06, version 1.5.6*

I’ve used the app since it was launched (and the guides before) and it’s amazing! If you have a pregnancy or baby, do your mama self a favor and get this app. I just had my 5th kiddo and the postpartum guide is a game changer. As a nurse midwife, I recommend all my mamas do PT and this app if they can to build strength and recover their pelvic floor. Your 70-80 year old self (and bladder) will thank you!!

### 5/5 — Love Love Love

*2024-08-01, version 1.5.4*

I loved this app during my pregnancy, wish I had had it for my previous pregnancies. Great workout programs that were easy to add to my day. This was my 4th pregnancy and when I was evaluated by my pelvic floor PT she was so surprised how little diastasis I had postpartum! She said it was the best she has seen for 4 babies! Was less than my previous pregnancies! I attribute this to their program. I have been enjoying their postpartum program as well!

### 5/5 — Great for Pregnancy!

*2024-07-12, version 1.5.1*

This app has helped me workout safely while pregnant! It helps with stretches and pelvic floor. All you need!

### 5/5 — Highly Recommend!

*2024-07-12, version 1.5.1*

Expecting & Empowered is a wonderful program for any phase of life you are going through, whether it be prenatal or postpartum. I love following the stength workout program knowing it’s safe for the stage of pregnancy I’m currently in! I also look forward to ordering my c-section recovery box and following the c-section program after having our baby boy 💙

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

I’ve used this app through my post partum period and I love it! I’ve gone through the strength, cardio, and core portions and I love the guidance and simplicity of it all! Thank you thank you thank you!!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

I felt stronger and more confident with my pregnancy. Easy to follow workouts. Anyone can do it

### 5/5 — How to lift safely in pregnancy!

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

Before pregnancy I ran and lifted regularly at a competitive level. This app has been the guide I needed for continuing to lift safely through pregnancy for a strong birth and postpartum. It has given me the peace of mind that I am doing “enough” to prepare for birth and maintain my strength.

### 4/5 — Going well!

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

Just getting started with the post partum strength program and love that it starts so early post partum. I’d love to see more variation in breathing exercises, but also understand why consistency is good too! Thank you for creating this.

### 5/5 — Truly phenomenal

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

This app has made me stronger in ways I thought might not be possible after 2 pregnancies. With my second preg, started following the app since day 1 and it has made my delivery easier and postpartum recovery easier. Very thankful to have found this and I recommend this to all my friends going through pregnancy and postpartum.

### 5/5 — Love!!!

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

Absolutely love this app, so helpful for navigating postpartum after my c-section!

### 5/5 — The first thing to help my third tri pain

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

I have used this program for all 3 babies, but with baby #3 I started having bad SI joint pain. I saw a pelvic PT for weeks and nothing helped… until I started training with this app. It truly focuses on strengthening the right muscles to relieve pregnancy aches and pains!

### 5/5 — Best Pregnancy/Postpartum Workouts!

*2024-07-11*

I’ve made my way through almost the entire expecting and empowered app at this point and can confidently say I love almost everything about it. After the birth of my second, I started in on and completed the full realm of postpartum workouts, from early to advanced, the core workouts, and the return to running program. My son had just turned two in May when I finished up working through these and I can so confidently say my strength, my confidence, my balance, and my overall happiness and wellness was increased as a direct result of working through these programs! I also lost over 50 pounds and felt so, so good in my postpartum body! The only thing I haven’t worked through yet is the pregnancy guides, but stay tuned- after we found out about our third coming in May, I jumped right in and am almost done with the first tri workouts. I so recommend this app and all of the programming!

### 5/5 — Cured Lower Back Pain

*2024-07-11, version 1.5.1*

This workout program is great and is more than just a workout program for expecting and post partum moms. This has been a great education tool that helped with my lower back pain. My midwife loves this program as well!

I can’t wait to try their return to running program when I am ready!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not pregnancy safe

*2025-04-02, version 1.6.9*

My first week using the app, they had me doing burpees, mountain climbers, and ab moves that aren’t pregnancy safe. The modifications were not much better. I regret completing these exercises without consulting a professional when I felt the moves weren’t the safest.

### 1/5 — Simplify the App

*2024-08-27, version 1.5.6*

I honestly didn’t subscribe because it’s not user friendly and had to sign in so many times to subscribe to a plan. If it was more seamless I would have

### 1/5 — I wanted to love it!!

*2023-02-10, version 1.3.1*

The content (I think) is wonderful- the E&E team is clearly knowledgeable and I love their Instagram content. However, the app is terrible! I’m trying to do the 33 week c-section recovery and it’s basically just a long list of exercises. I’d expect to be able to click on it from the list, but you have to go to a separate page to search for the exercise… which is kinda annoying, however, I’ve tried on like 10 separate occasions and that page doesn’t even work?? It has only loaded one time for me. I have updated the app and everything… I just don’t understand how this is a highly rated app. I so badly want to utilize the content, the app is just an awful interface. I’ll probably just buy their postpartum PDF bc that will at least work!

### 1/5 — Wanted to love, but don’t

*2022-05-14, version 1.1.8*

I REALLY wanted to love this app. I wavered for quite some time on purchasing, due to cost, but was really excited to try the back to running program.
As with any new app, I totally understand that there are a lot of kinks that need to be worked out. I really appreciated the running assessment and pelvic floor exercises to go with.
While I think the content is great, the app is not easy to use. You cannot listen to music while running, so you’re stuck listening to the ladies talk through your entire run. There’s no ability to pause a workout to resume later, and you can’t really preview the runs.
Unfortunately, I keep finding myself using the peloton app instead and taking those runs easy to start. I really hope things continue to improve, as I’d love to protect my pelvic floor while running, but I find this app really frustrating to use.

### 1/5 — Disappointed- not any more convenient than pdfs

*2022-02-23, version 1.0.7*

I was really excited for this, expecting videos that would explain how the workout is done and do the counting of holds and repetitions for you. Unfortunately this takes just as long as using pdfs because nothing is explained or counted so you still have to read the information and count yourself and it just times how long you’re doing it and you have to touch the app every time you want to move to the next exercise. The instructions are also confusing saying things like “hold for 10 breaths” and then showing a video of someone who clearly has only held for one breath so maybe they mean repeat for 10 breaths not hold? But then for the number of reps it’ll say something like 6 breaths. So so so confused and disappointed. I love the idea and potential of these workouts but they are just not straightforward enough for my mom brain. I just want to follow along a workout video so I’m going to have to find something else.

### 2/5 — It’s okay..

*2022-07-27*

Tried it for a few months but I just didn’t find the workouts fun.. the app isn’t really engaging and the instructions are not always clear. For me it felt like there was a lot of unnecessary awkwardness with some movements and transitions. It’s hard to get in the zone when you have to keep going back and tapping ‘next’ on your phone or device. I also prefer timing each exercise in stead of counting reps.

There is a ‘flexibility’ portion but there is no stretching or warm-down that seems relevant to the movements in the work out (i.e. to prevent feeling stiff the next day.)

The pelvic floor stuff seems important so I would say that is something of value.

Maybe it’s just not for me 🤷‍♀️ I hope this review is helpful for the developers to keep refining the format.

### 2/5 — Wanted to love it, but…

*2022-03-11*

I really wanted to love this app and was excited to try it out, especially for the postpartum content. I’ve followed E+E on IG for a while and really trust their content and their expertise. However, the parts of the app I’ve tried so far just haven’t worked well for me. The workouts aren’t guided videos (by this I mean that there’s no audio on top of the moves) so, as someone newer to this sort of working out, I needed to stop at the beginning of each new move to read the instructions on how to do the exercise, which took a lot of time and disrupted my flow. There are also a lot of complaints in the community section of the app about glitches, poor sound quality on the core videos and guided runs, etc. For what the app costs I’d expect a higher quality; I think I’ll be switching to the Peleton app, which also has postpartum content and is cheaper. I know this app is brand new and I think there are just some improvements that need to be made, so I’m hoping maybe in a few months it will feel more worth my while, but for now I’m not planning to pay for more than a first month. Disappointed.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for taking the time to review our app! We do understand that not everyone will enjoy the video format as our workouts aren't guided by voice but rather movements and repetitions. We designed our workouts with mamas in mind knowing that they can't always follow an instructed workout with little kiddos around. And you are correct - we are a brand new app so we are always working on improvements for app. As a small business, we are truly doing our best to provide a great product we feel proud of! We hope to continue to evolve and provide an amazing product for our community. Have a great day!

### 3/5 — App is clunky/crashes

*2026-05-25, version 1.9.1*

I really like the exercises, but unfortunately, the app is quite clunky to use. I just opened up a workout program and the videos have no sound - you can see the trainer talking but no sound. And skipping or navigating exercises to personalize the program isn’t working, the app freezes and reverts back to the exercise I am trying to skip.

### 3/5 — No Chromecast/Airplay Support

*2025-01-26, version 1.6.3*

It’s 2025, you guys need to be using native sdks to enable casting from a phone to a tv.

### 3/5 — Super glitchy. Not for experienced weightlifters, more for casual exercisers

*2024-09-19, version 1.5.7*

I’m currently in the trial period, but this app is so glitchy it is super frustrating. It skips exercises every single time or gets stuck in a loop with one of the circuits. I have to take screenshots or remember what was missed by memory. Force quitting the app doesn’t resolve it either.

As for the programming, I appreciate the stretches and core work but the strength training portion which they label “circuit” is not for experienced weightlifters. It does feel like programming for women who take hiit classes a few times a week/ exercise casually (and don’t understand much about (programming) OR are time poor/ hate exercise and want to do it in as little time as possible.

Note: Due to the quick circuit nature, I would suggest those who don’t much about exercise science to choose low weights because you will be doing a ton of reps OR, you can do what I did and lift your normal weights and just take 1-1.5 min breaks between sets and pause the program.

Overall I do think it is a fair price for the amount of content you get and how PT focused it is for those who can’t spare more than 30-40 mins. The strength part of the program just isn’t really created for experienced lifters/ athletes.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This app was game changing!

*2026-04-02, version 1.8.1*

I was struggling to get back into a fitness routine post c section with my first. The E&E app helped bring structure and confidence to my workouts. I did the post c section strength training, which included scar desensitization and mobilization. I could do the workouts from home or the gym, which was a huge plus. I also did the 12 week return to running program, which got me to a 10k at 9 months PP. A casual runner before using the app, it helped me think about my form and mixing speed and endurance in new ways. Highly recommend this app, I’ll definitely be using it for my next pregnancy and PP season!

### 5/5 — The Best!

*2025-12-17, version 1.7.3*

This is the best thing I did for myself in pregnancy/postpartum. Cannot recommend enough!

### 5/5 — LOVE this app!

*2025-09-08, version 1.7.0*

I’ve been using this app since Fall 2022 in my first pregnancy, and have continued to use it throughout postpartum, my second pregnancy, and now second postpartum experience. I love the strength training workouts— they are all just about 30 minutes. I have also loved the return to running program. It builds me up not only physically but mentally! 5/5.

### 5/5 — Fantastic pregnancy workout app

*2025-03-23, version 1.6.7*

I have loved the Expecting and Empowered App. As an avid runner who usually dislikes strength and flexibility training, this app was a great tool to diversify my workouts while at the same time having peace of mind about the impact of my exercise on my pregnancy. The variety of routines and ease with which I have been able to do them at home or while traveling with the help of easy/inexpensive equipment has been great.

### 5/5 — Exactly What I Needed

*2025-02-25, version 1.6.6*

After giving birth to my son, I was uncertain how to get back into exercising safely. At the recommendation of my midwife, I downloaded this app 6 weeks postpartum and have been working my way through the week by week strength and core workouts. They provide the guidance I was looking for and meet me where I am.

### 5/5 — Great workouts!

*2025-01-18, version 1.6.3*

I was in the fence about buying the app, but I’m SO glad I did! I usually use Peloton and Beachbody but didn’t want to think about how to modify later in pregnancy. The workouts are easy to follow and take around 30 minutes. I workout from home so I had most of the equipment already so if you don’t work out from home make sure to look through equipment you need. I’m also looking forward to a specific postpartum program as well.

### 5/5 — I LOVE THIS PROGRAM

*2024-09-17, version 1.5.7*

I first started using this for postpartum recovery after my first baby. I did the pregnancy work outs all the way up to 37 weeks with twins! It saved my back and made my c-section recovery so much more manageable. I’m almost done with the postpartum program again and I can not praise this program enough. I tell all my friends entering motherhood about this app. Truly it keeps me motivated and makes it feel like I’m strengthening my body in a safe way!

### 5/5 — Couldn’t love it more

*2024-09-16*

I started using their app at 8 weeks postpartum for strength training. Their workouts a manageable yet challenging and can be done in about 20 minutes which, as a mom, is fantastic. I love their strength training and that you can listen to your own music while doing them. What sets this apart, in my opinion, from other pregnancy/postpartum workout programs is that they have a whole 12 week program devoted to safely getting you back into running postpartum. Their return to running program was honestly life changing for me. It reignited my love for running and did it in a way where I didn’t feel overwhelmed and most importantly didn’t get any type of injury. I continued on to their running workouts that come after the 12 week program and they’re just as great. I just finished my first half marathon 10 months postpartum thanks to the foundation of strength training I built postpartum with them and then guiding me safely to return to running. I’m done having kids but I don’t see a reason to use any other app for workouts moving forward because they have everything you could need.

### 5/5 — This app kept me in shape for easier postpartum recovery

*2024-09-02, version 1.5.7*

I play a contact sport competitively and when I couldn’t do that during pregnancy, this app helped me a ton. I stayed in shape felt strong and good about my body and after I gave birth my recovery went super smooth 10 out of 10.

### 5/5 — Feeling my best postpartum!

*2024-08-21, version 1.5.6*

I cannot say enough good things about this app! I originally heard about it at the beginning of my pregnancy in a YouTube video, and loved the pregnancy workouts. I almost didn’t renew the app for another year because I thought I wouldn’t use it a ton Postpartum, but I was so wrong. After expected C-section, the recovery and strength programs specifically tailored for C-section has given me so much encouragement and empowerment to be connected to my body again. Now that I’ve finished the postpartum program, I’m starting the return to running program and am so excited since I haven’t run since being pregnant and have always struggled with injuries. Everything that the creators and developers do is so thoughtful. Love the podcast and Instagram as well!
