## What is ExpenseFlow?

ExpenseFlow is the fast, private way to track daily spending. Type "coffee 4.50" and you're done — AI files it under the right category instantly. No bank logins, no spreadsheets, no clutter.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN — OUR PROMISE
Some expense apps want access to your messages or inbox to auto-log purchases. ExpenseFlow deliberately does not — and never will. Nothing in the app reads your texts or email. Automatic help comes only from actions you choose: quick-typing a line, speaking a voice note, snapping a receipt, or sharing a screenshot.

NEW — IMPORT FROM A SCREENSHOT (Premium)
Screenshot your bank app, card app or payment history — or a single payment notification — and bring it into ExpenseFlow. Share it straight from Photos, or pick it from the Add screen. AI reads the amount, the merchant and the date, suggests a category and subcategory, and shows you every entry to confirm and edit before anything is saved. Send them to your personal ledger, a shared group, a business, or an office trip. Screenshots are used only to pull out the transactions and are not kept.

LOG AN EXPENSE IN SECONDS
• Quick Add: type "groceries 62" — amount, category, done
• Voice input, processed on-device
• Receipt scanner: photograph a receipt, AI reads the total (Premium)
• Import from a screenshot of your payment history (Premium)
• Recurring bills suggested on schedule — always with your confirmation

AI THAT WORKS FOR YOUR MONEY
• Auto-categorization that learns your merchants
• AI Coach: ask "how much did I spend eating out?" or "can I afford this?" — answers computed from your real numbers
• Month-end forecast and smart insights that catch creeping subscriptions

BUDGETS THAT MAKE SENSE
• 50/30/20 made visual: Essentials / Lifestyle / Savings
• Safe-to-Spend: one number for what's actually free to spend today
• Category budgets, savings goals, streaks, weekly review

SPLIT & SHARE (PREMIUM)
• Groups for roommates, trips, and family — split, track balances, settle up
• Give the group its own categories — everyone sees the same list
• Business mode for side-hustle income & expenses
• Multi-currency support for travel

YOUR DATA, YOUR RULES
• Works fully offline; syncs securely when online
• Free JSON & CSV export — your data is never held hostage
• Face ID / Touch ID app lock
• Delete your account and all data in-app, any time

Premium is a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel in Settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.26.0 — 2026-08-24

Hand a name-only member their own login.

Added someone to a group by name and been tracking their share by hand? You can give them an email now. They sign in, take over that member, and every expense, payment and settle-up already recorded against them comes along - their name and history stay exactly as they were. Open the group, tap the member, then "Invite by email".

Linking an email also hands you a ready-made message for WhatsApp or anywhere else, saying exactly which address to sign in with so their share lands on the right account.

Fixed: "Resend invite email" always failed with "Could not resend". It works now. You can also correct a mistyped invite address, even when that address already belongs to an ExpenseFlow account.

### 2.25.1 — 2026-08-18

Smarter income, your group's own categories, and a smoother sign-in.

INCOME, SMARTER
• Income now sorts itself — type "salary", "bonus" or "FD interest" and the category and subcategory fill in on their own, with AI stepping in for unusual descriptions
• Income no longer pre-selects a payment method. A salary credit is not a UPI payment — pick how the money arrived, or leave it blank
• Import from screenshots now has its own button in Business and in every family group — already pointed at that workspace or group, so imported entries land in the right place

GROUPS GET THEIR OWN CATEGORIES
• Create a category your group actually uses — Rent, Pet Care, Team Lunch,
whatever your group spends on — and every member gets it
• Add subcategories to it, or to a built-in category like Food. Those are
shared with the group too.
• Create one without leaving the expense you are entering: New category and
New subcategory sit right in the group Add Expense screen, and what you make
is selected for you
• Automatic categorisation now knows your group's own words, so a group
expense can be filed into one of your categories instead of the nearest
built-in — when you type it, and when you import it from a screenshot
• Made a typo? Press and hold a category your group created to remove it.
Expenses already filed under it keep their category — nothing in your history
changes. Built-in categories stay put.
• View-only members can see every group category but cannot add, change or
remove one.

SIGNING IN
• Your verification email now carries just the 6-digit code. The long
confirmation link is gone — mail providers were opening it in the background
and using it up before you ever tapped it, which is why a fresh code
sometimes said it had already been used.
• "Resend code" waits 30 seconds and shows the countdown. Tapping it
repeatedly used to send several emails at once, and the code you were
halfway through typing would stop working.
• Referral and group invite links you share now carry the ExpenseFlow name.
Links you have already sent still work.
• The AI coach, forecasts and insights moved to a newer, faster model.

### 2.24.1 — 2026-08-14

Fixes, straight from your reports.

• Sharing a screenshot to ExpenseFlow now opens the importer reliably — and when an image can't be read, it tells you why instead of doing nothing
• A screenshot showing a declined or failed payment is no longer imported as a real expense
• A wallet top-up is no longer counted as spending — moving your own money into your own wallet isn't an expense
• The Screenshot button on the Add screen is much easier to find
• Imported dates are spelled out in full, and flagged when the year had to be guessed, so a wrong one stands out

### 2.24.0 — 2026-08-12

Turn a screenshot into expenses.

NEW — Import from Screenshot (Premium)
Screenshot your bank app, card app or payment history — or a single payment notification — and bring it into ExpenseFlow. Share it straight from Photos, or pick it from the Add screen. AI reads the amount, merchant and date, suggests a category and subcategory, and shows you every entry to confirm — and edit — before anything is saved. Send them to your personal ledger, a shared group, a business, or an office trip.

Also in this update
• The Stats tab now scrolls silky-smooth, even with months of history
• Group balances use plain words — who gets back, and who has to pay
• Set a default business workspace so quick entries land in the right one
• Deeper reliability work on account switching and subscription checks

### 2.23.0 — 2026-08-08

Add anyone to a group, and balances you can rely on.

AMOUNTS WITH COMMAS ARE READ PROPERLY
Typing "Cab 1,200" used to log 200 — everything before the comma was dropped. Big amounts now come through whole, in quick add, in groups and in business entry, in both 1,20,000 and 1,200,000 style. Reference numbers, times and quantities like "1,000 ml" are no longer mistaken for money either.

CHECKLIST TO EXPENSE, WITH THE PRICE
Put the price in the item name — "Tea 500" — and converting it to an expense now fills in Tea and 500 separately, instead of dumping the whole line into the description and asking for the amount again.

ADD BY NAME — FOR PEOPLE NOT ON THE APP
Splitting with a parent, a flatmate or a friend who will never install ExpenseFlow? Tap Add by Name in your group and just type their name. They count in every split and balance, they get no email and never sign in, and you keep their side of the books.

VIEW-ONLY MEMBERS
Open a member from the group and choose Make view-only. They keep seeing every expense and balance, but can't add or edit expenses, or record a settle-up — an admin does that for them. They can still confirm a payment someone says they made to them.

NOBODY WALKS OUT MID-SETTLE
If you still owe or are owed money in a group, leaving now tells you the exact amount instead of quietly going ahead. Someone leaving used to drop their side of the maths, so everyone else's balance silently shifted and the debt could never be settled. Squared up? You can leave freely — including people who were stuck before.

DECLINED AN INVITE? YOU CAN COME BACK
Turning down a group invite no longer locks you out of it. Rejoin with the group code, or ask an admin to invite you again — and your past expenses come with you instead of being stranded under a second name.

READ-ONLY REALLY MEANS READ-ONLY
Someone who declined a group invite can still see the expenses they are part of, so they can check and settle what they owe, but they can no longer add or change anything in the group.

TIDYING UP A GROUP ACTUALLY WORKS
Removing a member who has settled up now succeeds instead of failing with an error, and the app stops offering Delete or Remove buttons that the server was only going to refuse.
