My 3rd time using the grill and the 1st time I couldn’t get it to connect at all. 2nd time it worked pretty well. My 3rd time I can’t get it to connect to the grill unless I’m standing right next to it………which i don’t need it at that point.

The grill has been great so far, I’ve cooked 4 times on it and loved what comes out.  The app however leaves a lot to be desired.  It constantly disconnects during the cooking which is maddening.  Why can’t this be fixed!!??

Set grill to 350 it kept rising in heat until it reached over 400 degrees i then set it to 150 and it won’t get any lower then 390! Waste of money!!

Purchased to use during the winter months when I didn’t want to be outside in the cold checking meat temps. This app/product would not stay connected and I had to keep going outside anyway.  Freezing cold. Very disappointed.

Got this as a Father’s Day gift, and it’s been a struggle from the start. The app would disconnect if I went out of the app, and in between cooks, I’ll have to delete the app and redownload it just to get the device to connect. The last few times I tried using it, it wouldn’t even connect at all

I’ve had this grill for about 6 months with no complaints until now…. App will not connect to the grill so everything has to be done manually and you can no longer monitor the temp from in the house. Not happy.

Please correct the connection failure for this app. It looses connection if you navigate away from the app. It does not maintain connection in the background. This means the app has to rediscover the unit ever single time you open the app or come back to it from any other screen on the device. It defeats the remote monitoring point of a smoker/grill if it doesn’t maintain connection.

Sometimes the Bluetooth connects, most of the time it doesn’t. When you are connected, you’ll get constant notifications that you can’t turn off telling you that you’ve lost connection. I have turned off the notifications to the app, yet still get an annoying alarm message each time it disconnects. Awful app.

The back arrow and App Store overlap each other on the top left corner of the screen which causes you to go somewhere you don’t want to go. Like back to the App Store when you trying to use the app and back out  editing is not easy to edit your presets or customize

Bluetooth connection has always been spotty at best and now after a year of periodic use it won’t connect at all. It also doesn’t have correct preset temperatures built in for meat temps. The app needs some serious overhaul.

This app is completely useless.
 After connecting the smoker, it stays connected for about 30-60 seconds then unconnected and goes back to the beginning. 
I have to buy separate thermometers to monitor my meat unless I want to stand there all day.

This app needs reprogramming, here I thought that the Chinese had good programmers.  Discounts a lot and you have to be close to the smoker for it to work. If it was real wifi then I could monitor from a distance. The other issue is every time you open the app, you need to find the smoker again, no memory of the connection.

I keep dropping a connection to the transceiver and therefore having to close the app, reopen it and then connect again. That’s when it works! Frequently it loads and then crashes. Relaunching it, it just can’t find the transceiver. The only thing that gets it working again is to uninstall it and then reinstall it, and sometimes needing a reboot of the phone in between the two.

I used this to grill two steaks, and it was a great tool to track internal temps. I had to input custom temperature goals though, because the presets for beef were off. It set “medium” to 165, when I wouldn’t want it cooked past 145 degrees. The preset feature looks like it would be really convenient, but as it is, I don’t think it’s usable.

The thermometer was pretty accurate but the Bluetooth is prone to disconnect which is pretty inconvenient considering that was the deciding factor. I’ll prolly return it after it’s first use and get a meater

I previously had an $$$$ Traeger and returned it because it would shut off in the middle of the night and ruin my meal. A few years later I saw the “expert” at WM and decided to try it since I still wanted a pellet grill. This has been a great grill and never given me any problems. It’s not perfect but so much better than the smaller much more expensive “T” grill. Read other reviews about the timer and other quirks, but a 4.5 grill no doubt!!

The disconnect issue is bad. I use it to monitor my New Baunfels. Texas style smoker and grill. I use one probe of thermometer for grill temp and the other nor the meat. I have been more concerned with grill temp. Because of using lump coal and wood to smoke my foods. It is highly accurate but the device disconnect issue is insane. When the set up is just 20 ft or less away.

This app allows me to control my Commodore pellet grill from inside the house easily.  I also bought an Expert Grills bluetooth thermometer for use on my charcoal grill and this app also provides control and display of that device.  Two things that need to be improved:  when setting an alarm temp to tell you the probe has reached a set temperature, it dings outside on the grill but not on the phone. This is partially due to the app disconnecting the bluetooth every time the phone goes into sleep mode. The other item this app lacks is a way to “forget” or remove a previously paired device. I paired a probe type thermometer and the only way to remove it was to uninstall the app.

Not the best app I’ve ever used. It turns the grill on and makes adjustments but it has to reconnect every time you change screens on your phone. It’s slow and clunky. I think it could use some major improvements.

I got this grill because of the app. This is what pushed me over the edge compared to the pit boss. But the app won’t alarm on the phone when it reaches temp. It just beeps outside. Plus whenever the phone screen goes to sleep you lose you connection. Please fix these issues especially the audible alarm on the phone for temps and time.

Would be a much better if it had a refresh rate capable of reading when your phone times out or your using it for other purposes. The moment you visit any other page and go back to Expert Grill, it initiates a reconnection all over again. It desperately needs an update.

Just purchase the Expert Grill and started using the App. 
First the Grill show a WiFi symbol but the App is Bluetooth, which loses connection frequently. Second why doesn’t the App have the ability to name your grill and then connect, instead of every time I use the app I have to find my grill. 
TERRIBLE programming!
