The app goes down on a regular basis, usually on a Friday, so no one can be contacted until Monday. Waste of time ### 1/5 — Old news *2017-12-29, version 2.9.10* Considering their claim that it’s the app for up to date news in the region it’s the 29th of December and it’s still showing news from the 22nd even if you refresh it - but that’s nothing new with this app so I wouldn’t bother if you are thinking of downloading it ### 1/5 — An app that relies on a website? *2017-10-28, version 2.9.10* This is an app and there shouldn’t be reliance on an external website. Take sky news for example, they don’t ask you to visit the sky news website, it’s all contained within the app. This app needs a serious update ### 1/5 — Sort the pictures out *2017-08-27, version 2.9.10* The number of stories actually available is limited. But more annoyingly the images are full size and only a small section actually displays on the app. How could they get it so wrong and how long does it take to fix? ### 2/5 — Needs fixing *2017-07-13* Terrible since update. You can't swipe pages whilst zoomed in, so you have to keep zooming out (which isn't easy when you have arthritis!). The writing in the newspaper is also way to small and is not optimised to fit an iPad screen. Unless it's fixed soon I will be cancelling my subscription. ### 1/5 — Poor excuse for a news app *2017-02-24, version 2.9.10* I'm a local who thought this may be useful when travelling but, after months of persevering I finally gave up when, following storm Doris, the headline was "paddling pool gets swept away" when in fact a poor woman had been killed in Wolverhampton by debris! Wasn't even mentioned! No wonder they have had to move from their large offices in Queen Street. Probably working out of a garden shed ### 1/5 — Update never a good experience *2022-10-12* For the Second time there has been an update I am unable to access my digital edition there is a digital access screen shot which I don’t have only a direct subscription have telephoned the help line no help at all very frustrated ### 1/5 — New E&S web site *2020-09-03* Rubbish. Now I can’t get the Star on my iphone as the new App is for ios 11 and over and mine is 10. I have no intention of buying a new phone just for the Star. On my ipad I can’t now get 2 pages across the screen in landscape format. Can’t now get all the pages across the bottom. I thought an update should represent progress - this is the reverse. Otherwise I enjoy keeping up with news in the city especially Peter Rhodes Maurice Williams ### 1/5 — Sign of the times *2020-06-07, version 3.0.1* Like most things today the good old E & S has jumped on the bandwagon. They went digital they decided we can make money, not people’s pleasure, why do they need to have subscription. I enjoyed catching up with all the local news while on holiday, but not now so thank you E&S for spoiling yet another great institute. ### 1/5 — Third review *2020-05-14, version 2.9.10* Persevere with this as it is a great local newspaper, this app however is far and away the worst I have to deal with. Currently have the delete and reload the app every day to get it to work. Latest in a long line of issues Please update and improve this app, is no one listening !! ### 1/5 — Frustrating and rubbish *2020-03-28* When was this app last updated ? You can only read the chosen paper at a time if you are lucky. If you change anything, even going back a page at times, the whole thing crashes and you have to reload. I can only dream about loading the archive versions ! Please update and this could be a great app worth the money. Each day I have had to reload the app several times and had to be very careful what I did reading the paper. Very annoying - I doubt I shall renew my subscription unless something is done very quickly. RP ### 1/5 — Can’t log in *2019-10-19, version 2.9.10* Haven’t been able to log in to read the digital version of the paper for months. Emailed them ages ago and they haven’t replied at all. Still paying over £5 every month and not getting anything for it. ### 1/5 — Needs urgent attention *2019-10-18* The paper is a local champion in the West Midlands and Staffs. Regrettably the app is a disappointment. There is an issue that prevents the news or sports stories updating day on day. The fault has been reported over a month ago but from feedback on this forum, the fault has existed for much longer than this. Come on E&S get it sorted before readers desert you for good. ### 1/5 — Don’t Bother *2019-10-05, version 2.9.10* The app never updates unless you delete and reinstall. Current lack of updates is 6 weeks. Left Wolverhampton 28 years ago and this is my window into my home town, area and beloved football team.
