## What is Express Dictate Professional?

Express Dictate is a voice recording app for iOS. You dictate directly on your device using the controls. When done, tap send and the dictation will be compressed and sent to your typist by email automatically.

For ease of use, operation of the record and playback features is designed to closely mimic that of old style dictation recorders. You can also playback, rewind, insert or overwrite as required using the keys on the front.

This dictation voice recorder is designed to have all the features you need as easy to use as possible and reliable for day-to-day operation. By installing Express Dictate you will quickly find it will replace your old dictaphone, and by using the internet to send dictations, will also improve the turnaround on typing.

Express Dictate Features:
- Record and playback dictation using the controls on the device.
- Editing, inserting and overwriting. You can select between record overwrite, record insert and record end modes.
- Optional voice activated recording. When selected Express Dictate only records while you are speaking.
- Automatic compression of audio files to reduce upload times and storage requirements.
- Sends recording in compressed wave (wav) or dictation (dct) file formats.
- Files can be sent via FTP, email, and iTunes.

All files sent by Express Dictate can be transcribed by the free foot pedal controlled transcriber software Express Scribe Transcription Player Software.

The app doesn't work - it doesn't send recordings to my typist. Most of the troubleshooting info seems to be for desktop users, rather than smartphone. After several emails from very unhelpful customer service operators, they told me that there is a known bug, and that they have referred the issue to their developers, but do not have an estimate of when the issue would be addressed. 
I asked for a refund, and they told me I had to ask apple. 
Worst money I've ever spent.

The new update has major flaws. When creating emails with larger files they are split up just like in the old version. The problem is that if a second email is required to send more files it doesn’t not load or send these. Example was when I tried to send a dictation. The first email with loaded 1-3 of a total of five files and sent fine. The second email that used to load automatically with files 4 and 5 does not load. The auto on voice feature also does not work anymore. Very disappointing as the old version worked great. I will be switching if this is not fixed ASAP.

7-16-18-  Still no fix for the above problem. Now the app just crashes when I try to send the file.

Dommage que l’icône qui signalait l’envoi de la dictée par mail, à côté du titre, ait disparu sur cette mise à jour. Ce serait bien de le ré-intégrer à l’app !

Waste of valuable work time trying to get this app to send an email. It's the worst app ever. Major bugs. Needs a lot of work. Hope there are better alternatives out there.

### 1/5 — Do not update to this version if you have any stored recordings

This version has a major bug and will corrupt all stored recordings if you try to play them back. It appears to erase every recording made on previous versions if you try to play them back in your iOS devise. We lost multiple recordings with this upgrade. Tried to call the company, but unless you pay them extra money they will not talk to you. This is a major bug problem.

This app has been very glitchy since recent iOS update. App stops recording randomly on its own and has resulted in loss of dictations when the user is not aware that the app has suddenly stopped recording. This app needs to be updated asap or it is just not functional. I sent a bug report, and removed and reinstalled the app but the problem keeps happening. Help!

We originally used the free version, which was great, but since moving to the pay version things have gone seriously downhill. 
Apart from the splitting of files noted by other reviewers, our biggest frrustration (there are a number of users of this app in our office) is that when you send it for typing it often 'loses' the first half of the dictation, meaning you have to do it again or fill it in manually. I've tried sending a bug report, but have never had any response from them and I haven't seen any bug fixes advertised...

The simplicity of the app is great, we have been using express dictate on PC's for a long time and this app for £7.99 could make life easier right?
Not quite, I'm affraid. As per a previous rating, after 10-12 minutes, the dictation splits in to two and so on. When there is a long dictation it will then have to be emailed in byte sizes and this is with the setting on the bottom quality and .wav size. 
Appart from that, the support for the app is nonexistant, you go around in circles to find any kind of support. Again, very disappointing.
The app itself is quite straight forward and easy to use for different levels of technical people, but the length of dictaion allowed, even though buying the professional version says unlimited dictation size and the nonexistant support for the app, like everyone that has anything to do with it has washed their hands since releasing it is very dissapointing.

I was using their Expess Delegate software and because of the description I thoughts I could send directly to it, but you can't. I really hope it gets updated with this feature soon. Also it needs to be update for newer devices (iPhone 6 Plus) and a more modern/clean look (it looks terrible on my iPhone 6 Plus).
