### 2/5 — Difficult to get correct position

*2023-04-26*

There should be a way to indicate when the Vision Check device is correctly positioned on the face and eye . I get mismatched red and green bars with the slightest movement resulting in unsure readings. Very frustrating !

### 4/5 — Good

*2022-01-04, version 2.1.6*

Good that you can test yourself at home

### 4/5 — Nice Option to Vision Check

*2020-10-22, version 2.1.2*

I feel very confident in the results - more so than the eye doctor where I am guessing at reading a chart. The device does take awhile to adapt to but by the last test it was natural.
It is a little awkward with your phone’s security features (which I cannot turn off due to work) which lock my device. But again as the tests went on this was less of an issue.
I am frustrated that you can order glasses from only 2 online retailers - limiting your choices.

### 3/5 — Test results shouldn’t be rounded

*2020-10-09, version 2.1.2*

Update ( October 9th, 2020): Unfortunately the individual test results have now been totally removed from the app. That also removes the ability to easily tell if the test you just took failed for some reason.

Original Review:
I like that you can now look at the individual test results but they unfortunately are rounded to the nearest quarter diopter. That’s not really giving us access to the raw results. I’m assuming they are doing that because the results jump around so much. The test values still jump around a lot with the rounded results but with big quarter diopter jumps. EyeQue should just state that the results are going to change between testing sessions because that it is the nature of vision and show the unrounded results. The tests also don’t match what is shown on the PDF Refraction Report that you can download from the website. The results shown on that report are *not* rounded.

**Developer response:** Hi Jet-pad, thank you for providing such detailed feedback. We will share your experience with the management team this week. Not rounding individual tests, is something that can be done. We will strongly consider this for the next app update. If you have any more great suggestions like this, please email us any time directly at support@eyeque.com.

### 2/5 — cannot delete data

*2020-08-01, version 2.1.1*

I was showing a friend how to use the app. He accidentally clicked on save. Now his eye test is part of my permanent record and there is no way to delete it other than writing to customer service, and good luck with that! So the device is now a useless piece of junk.

### 3/5 — Is it me or the app

*2020-07-31, version 2.1.1*

Testing was so difficult. Sometimes I couldn’t see out the eye I was testing, sometimes there was no green or red line. The controls are clunky and I don’t know how they expect anyone to focus on something else while trying to move with these god awful controls.

### 3/5 — CAPTCHA

*2020-01-24, version 1.0.7*

I hate CAPTCHA. I don’t see the necessity.

### 4/5 — Pretty accurate

*2019-05-29*

Eye test figures seem pretty accurate, after the minimum 3-tests fine consecutively a couple of the results differ slightly from an opticians prescription done a few weeks ago, but expect the results will even up further after more test results are added.

Only issue so far seems to be that PD test results aren’t being saved to the dashboard after being measured and the save option selected?

### 1/5 — Not very good

*2019-05-25, version 1.0.6*

App needs some cosmetic updates. Lots of screen formatting issues and buttons not working all the time. Service itself works but very tedious and results were not accurate. Could be useful where people dont have any access to eye doctor but would not trust this for accurate prescription. Plus with the costs and subscription this ends up being more expensive then actual eye exam.

**Developer response:** Hello! We appreciate the feedback and would like to talk to you in depth to better understand what parts of the app you would like to improve. While the testing process may seem longer than it should, we do use an aggregate of your testing results to provide you with your EyeGlass Numbers. This allows us to provide the user with the best results and measurement of the user's eyes. It also is a self administered test, so those who test well will have excellent results, but those who test poorly will not. This is represented by the button for glasses either being grey or colored. 85% of those users who have ordered glasses with our EGNs say they are the same or better than their current measurements. Please email support@eyeque.com with more information so we can have a conversation about your comments.

### 1/5 — errors everywhere

*2019-05-15, version 1.0.5*

If you have the mute button on you getting audio, spelling errors everywhere! I did a test and then it crashed and didn’t save the results. Horrible app design. Good concept but very poor execution

### 1/5 — Waste of my time

*2024-06-16*

Had hi hopes 4 this bcuz I can’t go to eye doctors due to horrible experiences because of my stupid eye shape. My vision has been bad 4 yrs and I saw this online and when I got a free offer to try it I grabbed it.
Got the thing today, downloaded the app. Set up an account. Then couldn’t login! I verified the email, I tried and tried to login, even clicked reset password and still couldn’t login then even tried to sign up again and it said email already exists after saying the email didn’t exist. THANKS A LOT FOR WASTING MY TIME!!! Luckily all I paid was shipping. But I have no other way of getting Rx glasses so now I just have to make do with wearing cheap readers all the time. That’s ok. I enjoy bumping into doors and not being able to see the sports scores on the tv and having to use magnifiers AND readers to read the Bible. That’s perfectly fine. I hope I go blind soon and then my eyes won’t offend anyone anymore.

### 1/5 — Poor instructions very very poor

*2022-12-06, version 3.0.0*

No way obviously to register set numbers
Perhaps that’s way I can’t get a grid to get started?
Instructions /video do match well at all
No way to get answers quickly
Concept is good execution terrible
I can see why the have used ones for sale
Should not be this hard

### 1/5 — Missing a lot of calibration options

*2022-01-17, version 2.1.6*

When I ran the set up, I wasn’t able to add what I think was the old prescription. It’s been way too long since I purchased eyeglasses. The red and green markers were so far off, the test flunked too much.

### 1/5 — Does not provide valid usable results

*2020-08-11, version 2.1.1*

TL;DR. The results I got were off from an actual doctor exam. I didn’t realize the results did not work until I got glasses which took a long time to arrive putting me near the end of the return window. I was unsuccessful getting any support from the company. I do not recommend this product or app.

With my normal doctor closed due to COVID I got this tester to renew my prescription because I was overdue and things were starting to become a bit fuzzy. I ran through the tutorials and did a few tests to get my results.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if they are correct until you get some glasses. The first problem I ran into is finding a place that would let me order glasses without a real prescription. Once I found one online, I entered my values and submitted my order.

The wait to get the glasses was terribly long due to COVID and not being in the CONUS. When I received them though I was disappointed that it made things more blurry than my current set of glasses.

I double checked the numbers and confirmed they matched. I called the glasses company thinking maybe they were made incorrectly. They offered a return with a credit for a replacement pair thankfully.

I made a few attempts to contact EyeQue for support but I never received a response and their chat feature never worked. It would either never load or say they were not online.

I was now three days outside the return period from the date I ordered the device and still unable to contact EyeQue. All comments and reviews I left on their page and videos were either never posted or have been removed.

Recently things have opened back up here and I was able to get a professional eye exam. The results showed stark differences from EyeQue. The biggest being the EyeQue measured farsightedness in both eyes whereas the doctor exam did not (Plano). Cyl and axis were also off for both eyes. When I showed him the values I got from the EyeQue they could not understand how it got those. The doctor even dialed it into the test glasses and it was just as blurry as the pair I ordered.

### 1/5 — App does not work on iPhone SE

*2020-07-23, version 2.1.1*

Can sign in but cannot get beyond register screen.

### 1/5 — Bad design, lots of issues.

*2020-06-07, version 2.0.0*

First off the update makes one put the rubber band band around the volume and power buttons on all modern iphones, triggering sirri, sos, or shut off. Before the update I took 49 counted tests and kept getting ’server error’ every few tests ( in reality took over 60 tests) . Keeps giving me ‘inconsistent results’. Very disappointed, definitely returning it, now stuck in server error, can’t upload or have the test count.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for letting us know what is going on. We're sorry for the issues you're experiencing and we'd like to help to the best of our ability. Can you please email us your name/account user name so that we can further investigate what's going on? You can also simply screenshot this review in the email to support@eyeque.com. We hope to hear from you soon!

### 1/5 — Utter Trash

*2020-05-26, version 1.0.7*

This app is trash. Constantly has you start over or doesn’t register your completed tests making you start the long process all over again. Generally unresponsive UI. During the test if you tap on text at the top of the screen the keyboard pops up! ROFL. Of course you can’t dismiss it. Couldn’t even get through an exam. If there was 0 stars I’d give it. Complete waste of money. Innovation award at CES means garbage if this is what they pick. Either that or there wasn’t any other products to judge. Go visit your eye doctor. This product is a joke.

**Developer response:** Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. We have dully noted your feedback and it will be shared among the team. Do you mind letting us know what kind of iPhone you have? This could be a display issue and we'd like to investigate it further.

Two things could be going on:
1. You are selecting that you're taking the test with your glasses/contacts ON. Only tests taken without corrective eye ware will be saved.

2. You are taking the test without being connected to wifi. Your tests will not save if you're not connected to wifi.

Please let us know if these two items can fix the issue.

We are not a replacement for the eye doctor. We highly recommend that people should see their eye doctor. We do not offer all of the tests that are included in a full eye health exam.

Again, thank you for the feedback and thank you for trying EyeQue! If you purchased within 30 days, we can start a return process for you as well, just email support@eyeque.com.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-04-20, version 1.0.7*

I’m an ophthalmologist-This is a piece of junk. I tried it once and it took so long and and was so cumbersome I could have done 5 refractions in the office in the amount of time it took me to not even complete one test.
I would give it 0 stars if that was a choice
I threw it in the trash.

### 1/5 — This app in your face

*2019-07-13, version 1.0.7*

Can you make an app that looks and works as bad as this one?

It's no small feat.

To achieve this level of disregard for look and feel you have to vigorously adhere to a strict set of rules:

- labels and values MUST be placed randomly on the screen and no pair of elements should have anything in common. Keep a separate list of widgets with their details written down so that you don't make two of them look similar by accident.

- you MUST have an absolute disregard for detail. Be aware that a typical human software engineer can't naturally be so blind to the app (sic), so you'd have to keep yourself medicated at all times while developing the app.

- you MUST NOT have any idea of how your app is going to be used. Breaking this rule might end up with accidentally writing code to keep the screen bright while test is underway.

- you MUST NOT ever use any default UI element of the host OS nor the UI toolkit used in development of this app. Everything must be poorly coded in house.

Even if you take it all by heart you still can inadvertently slip in some convenient features for the user or accidentally use one of the perfectly good default UI sliders.

So please use the least experienced developers you can find and never let them actually use their own app or any smartphone whatsoever.

Maybe then you will be able to make an app as bad as this one.

Good luck!

### 1/5 — Product does not work

*2019-06-18, version 1.0.7*

I have had more than four different people try to analyze their vision using the device. None of them could complete with all the tests. Basically this product does not work. At least not for the five people who tried to use it.

**Developer response:** Hello! If you are using the same account with multiple persons you will not receive proper results. The EyeGlass Numbers created are an aggregate of your testing data, so if you have multiple persons only take a single test, you will receive inaccurate results. This is why you need to take at least 3 tests and have your own account per user. We would love to speak to you more about your process of testing and what difficulties testing were. For first time users the process can be difficult and our support staff is more than willing to help you with any issues. Please contact support@eyeque.com at your earliest convenience.

### 5/5 — Eyeglass Rx in the palm of your hand

*2022-04-23, version 2.1.9*

Been using VisionCheck for 3 years now.
Each year, (just as the first time) when I break it out and charge the EyeQue device, it takes a short time to get comfortable with:
1. my eye orientation (to see the red and green lines) 2. its response to my finger input
3. the overall positioning of my arms, hands, head and posture…
so that all things work in unison to produce good results.
After the first (of three repetition) Right and Left eye (9 position) tests, I’m once again comfortable and I continue and complete all testing.
By the way, if you don’t think you did your best (during any of the three test repetitions) you can select to delete that repetition and retake the test.
All saved tests (time after time, year after year) are saved in a database to track and verify your vision and available for you to view.
The VisionCheck device/app is written so that if you attempt to save a test the results of which don't correspond to what would be considered appropriate values, it will warm you.
Each year my VisionCheck Rx is used to purchase new glasses (progressive lenses) and I’ve been perfectly satisfied with my corrected vision!
I recommend VisionCheck. That’s my opinion. It saves me time. It saves me money. It saves me frustration. And ultimately, I’m responsible for myself…just as it should be. I hope my published opinion assists you in making your own decision.
All the Best!

### 5/5 — Excellent Results

*2021-09-11, version 2.1.6*

I just got my first pair of prescription sunglasses using my results from VisionCheck and they are perfect. Even slightly better than my last pair prescribed by my ophthalmologist. A couple of things to know: yes, the app takes a while to use and isn’t easy like the one at the optometrist. No, not every online glasses provider will sell you prescription lenses without a doctor’s prescription, but there are still excellent ones that will. I got the same Ray Bans I always wear. Yes, it takes longer to mail order than to walk into a store, but if I never have to walk into a glasses store again I’ll take it. 100% happy with this.

### 5/5 — It’s awesome to test my own vision with EyeQue

*2020-10-23, version 2.1.2*

In recent years I noticed that my eye sight changed slightly, but I kept putting-off going to an optometrist until things got a bit worse. But with EyeQue it’s so cool that I can test frequently and easily order glasses more often to keep my eye sight sharp and clear. It’s the future for eye glass wearers like me!

### 5/5 — functional degradation

*2020-10-10, version 2.1.2*

Where are individual test results?

### 5/5 — Easy to use, great results, ready to order my glasses

*2020-10-05, version 2.1.1*

Easy setup on iphone, great instructions and user friendly. My daughter and i both use it and are ready to order glasses. Replacements for her, first non-readers for me.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2020-09-25, version 2.1.1*

So easy to use. I wish I found this sooner!! The app provides better feedback than the “this or that” selection at the doctor’s office. I feel comfortable and confident with my test.

### 5/5 — As consistent as the eye doctors

*2020-09-10, version 2.1.1*

I have used this tool for about three years now, starting with the older PVT tool. I have also recorded my eye doctor test results for the past 15 years. This tool has been much more consistent for me.

### 5/5 — Easy to use after you practice. Eye exams from home!

*2020-07-24, version 2.1.1*

So far so good! My son and I tested our eyes a few times and got our numbers. I used my sons results and made it into his prescription and ordered a pair of glasses from Zenni. I’ll update my review once we receive them!

### 5/5 — Amazing innovation for home vision testing

*2020-07-07*

Initially you might feel that it’s difficult to adjust to the process of joining the Red and Green lines but after 1-2 tries, it gets easier.

### 5/5 — Works Fine! Makes Impossible Measurements Happen.

*2020-02-19, version 1.0.7*

Used both the EyeQue PVT and EyeQue VisionCheck and they both work well, but the VC version is easier because the buttons are on the unit instead of having to touch the phone screen to adjust. Some people have difficulty aligning the lines up sometimes and that’s a measure of astigmatism at play and perfectly normal. You stop fiddling with back and forth adjustments when the middle of the red and blue lines are as clearly white as possible. Depending on your eye condition, sometimes the lines are still a bit fuzzy. That’s the closest focus you’ll get from your eyes at that particular retinal angle. Eye exams used to use the same double slit testing but (time=money and having you read random letters is faster to get you to a quick prescription.) What home testing does that’s impossible to get on a once per year exam is average measures over all the changes you eyed go through during a day or night. Measure every time during a work day and you’ll get a good average for a work day prescription. Measure repeatedly at night and you’ll get a night vision prescription. Over time, I’ve developed really accurate prescriptions for use during the week versus outdoors on vacation. Well worth the investment and over time can see definite patterns to when my eyes need stronger correction (like at night) versus when a relaxed prescription makes everything reasonably clear but lets my eyes work more to focus. Even the refractometer method of vision testing is only one measurement at one time. This gadget and the App give you the power to test whenever you want and more importantly as many times as you need to get the best prescription for specific uses.
