Needs updating for systems above High Sierra 10.3. (Aug 2022) ### 3/5 — Playback-Problem *2021-07-10* Leider flackert und stottert die Bilddarstellung in unerträglichem Ausmaß. Please fix the flickering playback and it will all be fine! ### 4/5 — Streams live TV & DVR shows to your local network *2021-05-13, version v2.2.1* I’m new to this app even tho I’ve owned 3 eyeTV tuners over the years. The eyeTV iOS app works great streaming live TV and DVR recordings from the eyeTV software running on both on my MacBook Pro (eyeTV HD) and Mac Pro (eyeTV 250+) to both my iPhone and iPad mini when connected to my local network. The closed caption feature works even better on the i-devices than the Macs - tho you have to set it to “unknown language” instead of “auto” to view the captions. I can’t comment on older, removed features except that the remote streaming option sounds nice. IIRC the app cost $5US and was well worth it. The app has been utterly reliable. The only issue I’ve ever had was on the Mac side where I had to reboot it once to re-enable the eyeTV video server. The Mac eyeTV tuner and DVR software was still working at that time, it just stopped streaming to the iOS devices. So 4 out of 5 stars for the minor CC issue and the disappointment of no new eyeTV tuners for the North American market :( ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for iOS 14.4 *2021-03-27, version v2.2.1* Please make it work for the latest versions! ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with eyeTV4 *2021-02-06, version v2.2.1* It was a great app with eyeTV 3, worked flawlessly. While EyeTV 4, 64 bit, works fine on the IMac with Big Sur, it doesn’t appear to work at all with this app, very disappointing, hopefully this app will get an update and a fix soon.... ### 1/5 — Can't remotely access archive *2021-01-05, version v2.2.1* Updating my Mac to Catalina meant having to fork out for the 64-bit version of eyetv. Unfortunately this doesn't play nicely with the iOS app: trying to open any recording results in a 'this recording has not been prepared for iPhone access...' error even when it had been prepared in the previous version of eyetv. Geniatech admit as much on their website. Therefore the archive is not remotely accessible. Total waste of money. ### 1/5 — Nach Update kein Bild mehr *2020-11-16* Kein Bild nach Update. Update: Noch immer nicht gefixed Immernoch kein Bild auf iPhone XS... ### 4/5 — EyeTV is great !!! *2020-09-21, version v2.2.1* I’ve had this app for around 14 years. I think it’s great. I’ve had a few issues with it over the years but these were all sorted eventually, and features and stability and various options have all have steadily improved with occasional updates. I’ve hardly used our flash TV since EyeTV came along. So much more convenient to watch TV on the computer (or occasionally the phone). My only gripe is the now long-term difficulty in purchasing another Elgato tuner. I have wanted to purchase a “diversity?” tuner for a few years now. They used to be “off the shelf” at Harvey Norman, but are apparently now only available on-line from Germany. Every now and then I get around to trying to order one, but they seem to be perpetually unavailable. ### 1/5 — Funktioniert nicht mehr *2020-09-19* Keine Verbindung, weder auf dem iPhone noch auf dem iPad. When you connect the Eye tv mobile device to your iPad or iPhone it will ask you to create an account which does not make any sense. This app used to work once you would connect the device to your iPhone or IPad. You developers of this application are disappointing and just wasting everybody’s time. Why the Eye tv mobile application is not working like before?? ### 1/5 — Broken airplay? *2020-04-04, version v2.2.0* Unfortunately automatically upgraded, which I was trying to avoid with debacle of EyeTV v4.0 on Mac. What a mess! Lost ability to access remotely (off network): used this feature all the time to schedule recordings (luckily the country is in lockdown for now, so maybe it will be fixed soon). Viewing live TV continues with sound even if I kill live TV and switch to viewing recordings: have to quit the app and start again. No memory of where I was viewing in recordings (this bug existed before) so need to start again. Change of orientation on iPad mid-display of live TV or recording is hit and miss, with some elements moving, some not, and screen doesn’t always match window. No idea why view window needs to float above list of recordings or guide (new feature that does nothing). Overall, I would recommend earlier version. ### 1/5 — läuft seit eyetv 4 nicht mehr!! *2020-01-29* jetzt gab‘s zwar ein update, aber in den Einstellungen fehlt immernoch die Möglichkeit das iPhone zu verbinden!!!! Almost daily request for support never answered ! Call centre takes calls. Crashes EyeTV on Mac. *2024-02-23, version v2.2.1* I just got this version EyeTV for my iPhone to watch tv on the go. Connecting to the computer with EyeTV running now crashes the EyeTV macOS app, and it tells me that the IOS version needs to be updated. "This version of “EyeTV” is not compatible with macOS 14 or later and needs to be updated. Contact the app developer for more information." I just paid $7.99 for a program that doesn't work. Frech… ### 1/5 — WARNING: Do not waste your time and money on this app *2022-04-28, version v2.2.1* As I have found to my cost (and seemingly that of many other users given the very poor feedback) this app is not fit for the purpose with which it was intended. Like so many long-suffering early Elgato adopters I have found Geniatech’s approach to after-sales care on EyeTV devices lacklustre in the extreme and it is hardly surprising that little has been done in terms of maintaining app development either. I will be periodically checking on the progress, if any, of this item in terms of development but given that its last update was some 2 years ago would be inclined to give any Geniatech app a very wide berth for the time being. ### 1/5 — tragic demise *2021-08-12, version v2.2.1* It’s tragic what Geniatech have done to the Eye TV product since they bought it from Elgato. The iPad version no longer works properly. The new 64 bit version for MacBook doesn’t either. If you try to record, it doesn’t stop recording until your HD runs out of space! They have no answers when you contact them - just reinstall it and try again!!! Used to be a favourite and now it’s totally unreliable. I don’t think I’d pay for any further upgrades. Nach einem Anruf bei GeniaTech wurde mir sehr schnell geholfen. Es gab ein Update. Dieses läuft jetzt bei mir seit mehreren Tagen ohne irgendwelche Probleme. When Cablevison at my residence starting requiring a stupid cable box with every TV in the house, I moved my EyeTV hybrid to my second residence - so now I can watch the TV service that I pay for miles away, including the local news there, on my iPad where I live. (Oh, and I can also get the Buffalo Bills games that they never show here! Sweet!) ### 5/5 — No EyeTV In Australia *2016-02-28, version 2.0.4* I'm happy I purchased the EyeTV and this App while it was available in Australia. Being able to record TV shows / movies and playback anytime and anywhere plugged into a TV or not with the ability to skip advertising is great. This App is amazing.
