By using this app you and your friends will know what each person's bill and tip should be. Also the app is telling me that 20% of $100 is $18.43. WTH ### 1/5 — Tax *2021-06-24, version 5.0.0* Is not pulling the correct, current, meal tax for CT. App locks up Can't see the screen to adjust tax rate. ### 2/5 — This App is inaccurate and incomplete *2015-09-09, version 2.2* This app is inaccurate and incomplete. It's just a calculator that outputs cost per person based on the total bill divided by the amount of people. It would be more useful to separate out the subtotal, which is generally the amount used to calculate the tip, and then add that amount to the total, include the tax and then divide per person. This way you won't be paying a tip on the sales tax. Some states have an additional sales tax placed on prepared meals and this should be taken into consideration as well. These amounts could be programmed into the app per state and offered as a selection choice. There could also be a setup option to input these amounts manually and stored as a future choice. A few positives: There is a good interface here, easy to use and pleasant on the eyes. I like that you can calculate up to 30 people in a party, but there should be an option to input the number of people manually because scrolling for more than a handful is awkward. I like that there is a selection for gratuity included. I also like that you can input the gratuity percentage manually if you like, but it does not accommodate fractions ( I tried calculating the tip percentage based on the subtotal amount to match the default tip percentage calculations but it would not allow for fractions or decimal amounts) This would be a great easy to use tip calculator if was updated to calculate accurately and allow for variables. If you are thinking of getting this app as it is I would not recommend it at this time because it is inaccurate and incomplete. ### 3/5 — Widgets *2025-03-29, version 5.0.0* Good app but lacks widgets ### 4/5 — Almost perfect minus one thing *2021-06-22, version 5.0.0* This app would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that you cannot add tax to the subtotal, instead the app assumes you've already did the math on the tax, and there is no option for the math be done otherwise, which kinda makes the app pointless since you need to determine the tip on the subtotal without the tax. So lets say for example I went out to eat with friends (which would really be the point of using this app) and we all got different things; I got a drink for $12, and they got an entree for $25 and the total would be $37, i would need to know how much i need to pay on the tax and on the tip, but this app assumes you've already done the math on the tax and have included it. So there needs to he an option to have an untaxed amount which would then be taxed and tipped on. Literally the only thing preventing this app from being perfect. ### 4/5 — Nice widget and interface *2020-04-24, version 3.9.1* Look of app is clean and simple. Works on iPad iPhone and apple watch. Also includes a cool today widget. I did have some issues with tip showing correctly. It gets stuck on a certain tip value sometimes even though U change the rating. Also wish it included total tip and total bill so after U collect from everyone U can count and double check all is there. It now has ALL of the features that I wanted: Watch app Watch 4 Complication <-new Brilliantly calculates sales tax via your location Modern UI 5 star all the way ### 5/5 — Best app for tips *2018-12-07, version 3.3.1* I think this is by far the best app for calculating tips. I usually tip on the the pre-tax amount. Few tip calculators handle that, this one does. In fact, it uses your location to determine the amount of tax since each state is different. I also like that it has an Apple watch app. My only complaint is that the number pad on the watch is not very easy to interact with and on the Series 4 watch it does not make use of the entire screen and as a result the number key is smaller and you need to really focus to make sure you are hitting the right number. I have also hit delete many times while trying to type in a 3. Even so, it is a fantastic app on the iphone and a great app on the watch. ### 5/5 — Best tip calculator I've found so far! *2017-05-15, version 3.3.1* Worth the download! Only thing that would be a nice change is if switching between percentages with swipe wasn't so sensitive.
