## What is FabFilter Twin 3?

Since its first release in 2005, FabFilter Twin has been famous for its filter quality and oscillator sound. FabFilter Twin 3 expands and improves on its predecessors in every area, including a complete redesign of the GUI and workflow, more and better oscillators and filters, a radically powered-up modulation system, an all-new FX section, and much more. Sonically versatile, supremely intuitive, and spectacularly ‘analog’, Twin 3 is a dream instrument for creating synth sounds of all kinds, from basses, leads, and pads to plucks, drums, effects, and beyond.

The Twin 3 app lets you play via the on-screen keyboard or a MIDI keyboard connected to your iPad. To use Twin 3 as a plug-in, you need an AUv3-compatible host app like Auria, AUM or Cubasis. Twin 3 will appear in the list of Audio Unit extensions for instrument plug-ins in the host app.

No resizing or full screen control in this app on iOS is subpar. The full keyboard and mod slider cannot be accessed without using it with an external keyboard controller. The ability to resize the window to fit the screen ought to be a fundamental function.

Great sound and musicality but on iPad you cannot change filter panning which is like half the appeal unless you use modulation, merge there is a way but the iOS specific page on their site is pretty skimpy

This synth has one *incredibly unique* feature that I don’t see many people talking about - the ability to sidechain audio to it and then use that audio to modulate anything. Are you kidding me? That is REALLY REALLY cool and opens up a lot of possibilities (and ultimately the reason I bought this). Unfortunately at the moment this feature doesn’t seem to be available on iOS (I’ve tried in both AUM and Cubasis and there doesn’t seem to be a way to route audio to it). Other than that, it’s fantastic synth. Crossing my fingers that this will be added soon!

Whenever I want to impress someone with a mega-cool looking app I grab this synth. It is an aesthetic tech dream on steroids. But when it come to sound design, this thing gives me fits. I can’t imagine anything less intuitive

- Added Export Preset Folder command to the preset options menu that enables you to export the entire preset folder, so you can load these presets on Mac or Windows.
- You can now play the on-screen keyboard while the preset browser is open without closing it, so you can try presets while browsing.
- Fixed a bug which caused the main Frequency Offset parameter to be ignored for filters with panning and non-modulated Filter Frequency.
- The Arpeggiator Lock parameter is now always disabled for new instances of the plug-in.
- Fixed bug in the preset browser that made it impossible to use with an Apple Pencil.
