No! please don’t do it! *2024-12-03* Each of our family has the Facebook portal and we will have loads of photographs that we have loaded up using the Portal app. What an earth will happen now as I’ve just received a message saying that the Portal app is being discontinued in January 2025, which is only a month away ! ### 3/5 — App on iPad iOS crashes *2024-02-14* Doesn’t even open, crashes every time. The portal itself is decent though. ### 3/5 — Unable to Upload Photos *2023-10-17* This app used to be great, enabling me to upload pictures directly from my Shared Library photos. However now with this latest update I’m unable to upload photos directly from my iPhone’s Photo app. Now I have to sign onto Portal and manually select photos I’ve saved directly on my iPhone (instead of Shared Library). Can this bug be fixed?? ### 3/5 — Photo Rotation *2023-01-24, version 65.0* For a year only my 50 most recent photos have been rotated on my display, disappointing. The point is to take the place of a wall of pictures. Just this week it started bringing back memories and older photos. If this continues I will revisit my review. Portal has a crystal clear picture and great sound. No delay in transmission of communication. PLUS we can add our photos as a slide show that we enjoy through the day. Wonderful tool. Love it. The one thing that could be improved is to allow you to connect to people who are not on Facebook. But, we have managed to make it work by them sending pictures to me and I can save them To my camera roll and from there put them into the portal. For Individual photo, it’s working. ### 5/5 — If you have a Senior you need a Portal *2022-09-12, version 65.0* I love so much about having a Portal at my parents home I can upload photos to it from anywhere and they can watch them scroll through, they can use it just as an Alexa and ask questions and family members can call in through messenger and video chat with them as well. How am I supposed to download content when I can’t even access the app to download anything! I’ve tried all trouble shooting online! But nothing is working!!! Very disappointed please fix this before the app closes ### 1/5 — Product updates and support are non existent. *2024-02-24* I purchased 4 portals for my family and each of them has stopped showing any new photos. Meta doesn’t offer any product support. I’ve lost my original remote that came with it so was going to use the app as they don’t sell the original remote now and your more chance of finding a real Unicorn than a remote online . ### 1/5 — Photo frame rubbish *2022-08-29* A key aspect of this device and app is to get a photo frame. With over 750 photos uploaded it just cycles through the same 15 or so… over and over again. Have reported the issue but no resolution. The video chat is also patchy with frozen video all the time and very difficult conversations. I expected a lot more from the Portal. I really wanted to love it but it has fallen way short of what I would expect from a cheap photo frame (like the one I had before that has always worked perfectly). Displaying photos from an album is about as basic as you can get. The photo frame issue is inexcusable really, a decent software testing programme should have highlighted this issue before it became a problem. ### 1/5 — Glitchy. Not stable crashes *2022-08-24, version 65.0* The app continues to crash when I try to use it. Won’t let me upload photos. Useless app to this point which makes the Portal device worthless. I have already been 50 images but only cycles through one picture or a few pictures. Some problem. Our family depends on this product daily and my mother enjoys seeing the photos rotate and refresh. When she struggles to use her phone, Facebook Portal is always there and even her staff love using it to call family members daily. The automatic camera tracking works great and the speaker/mic are always reliable. Make a new model and we will buy multiple. I love how it follows the person as she moves around, it focuses on her. Another great feature is the showing of pictures. I uploaded more than 150 pictures and my family in my house and my mother in Europe can enjoy them at the same time. I think this device deserves a better recognition. ### 5/5 — Mum’s portal *2024-04-22* I bought a portal for my mum in lockdown because we are a military family living all over the world and like most people we couldn’t get to see our elderly Mum/Mam-gu. She has since had a stroke and is confined to a chair and loves to sit and watch all our memories on her portal. I call her on the portal and chat with her, although her speech isn’t good now it’s wonderful to be able to see her. She’s never had a smart phone or tablet, but her portal enables us to see her and her family growing up. Her grandchildren call her on the portal and it brings her great joy watching all her photos of her grandchildren growing up. Your loved one! *2023-04-17* I bought a portal to have near my Mom, and Pops! This way I can see every day! My Mom is 93 and Pops is 98! What a joy to talk to them every single day! The only thing I wish her Portal had, was a way to attract headphones or a way to increase the volume Probably twice as loud! They both have very nice and functional hearing aids, but they are from the time that, nice things are saved for special occasions only! Because they live far up a mountain, someone that comes to visit, that is not company is a special event, so they wear their hearing aids! But this is not so for family! They are saved to wear to town for a doctor’s appointment! I do agree that hearing aids are important for a Doctor’s appointment, but they should be asking the doctor for his notes as well, because even with their hearing aids, they don’t always capture all that the doctors are saying! I apologize for going on to write so much about the importance of hearing well, but it is something that I battle with every day! ### 5/5 — Brilliant bit of Tech for everyone *2022-12-03* I have bought two of these for elderly relatives who can’t use a mobile and struggling to make phone calls, however both of them are managing to use this hands free. Sometimes they forget but we can prompt over the phone. They love the photos which we can add and change. It has been life changing and allowed them to be part of our world, especially when we so far away. They do appreciate seeing us aswell as hearing us. Have taken them along remotely to days out, and stuff they can’t do and access anymore.
