My wife doesn’t wear makeup, even if I’m swapping a face without makeup with my wife’s face, it looks like she has a TON of makeup on after and doesn’t even look like her. It must be noted that I even try swapping her face with faces that resemble her a little bit to try and come out with the best results, still terrible. We now also have confirmation that they are greedy and lazy. Version two pricing is outrageous; excessive and unwarranted. The app imposes a price penalty on creations it considers 'personal'. Apparently structured by the Taliban, this personal price tier penalizes artists, medical professionals, physical therapists, and many educators. I am developing curriculum for a bicycle safety class for older adults. The app generates a warning screen implying illegality! This means that they are monitoring your creations in order to impose their ill-considered value system. The creations produced by the current iteration are only nominally improved. And the app seems to have difficulty face swapping both eyes acceptably. If you try to face-swap, your better version of a sleeping baby with eyes closed; your creation will have two demonic, eyes open and staring into the abyss. **Developer response:** We are so sorry about what happened with your app experience. Thank you in advance. ### 3/5 — Great app, but (help!) *2023-08-07* I agree the charge per private videos is a bit much, would be nice if you got 30-40 vs just 20. Would give it 4, but the latest issue stinks, see below Also just recently when you upload videos, it looks fine until the AI analyzes it, then turns a nice HD landscape video into a distorted square and because of the distortion the ai no longer works well. Worst part is you don’t see this until after the upload, so you get charged for a crap upload. I out a note into support, hope the fix and credit me the 3 credits I lost, but not hopeful, as last time I emailed about another issue I got no response 🙁 ### 1/5 — This app used to be great… *2023-06-02* The pricing for this app is so inconsistent. I have been a paying customer for over a year because the app is actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, now they have changed the upload rules where now you are charged .1 credit for every photo uploaded and then you get charged .1 credit for EVERY SWAP OF THAT PHOTO?! Seriously?!? It used to be unlimited photo uploads and unlimited photo swaps. Now it’s a cash grab. I will not pay for this service again while it stays in this payment scheme. Good luck… ### 2/5 — Fun App But less and less for more $$$ *2023-05-07* Initially it was awesome. You need fixed pricing or to stay consistent with what’s advertised. I paid for the month and was promised via email twice to be patient and it would be fixed. But now you have to pay for every video when your advertising says you can do 20 videos. I read your comments on others that you have costs but fix the monthly pricing plan to reflect that or explicitly state what you get and what you don’t. I’d re subscribe when you fix it all if the price is right ### 1/5 — Hate it… here’s why *2023-04-26* They say you can upload any video. That’s not true and it’s not clear. I uploaded a clip from Star Wars. It kept getting rejected without a clear reason. They have Star Wars clips in the app but if you try to use any others it will fail. And despite me signing up for one time use when I went to delete my account it said you were on an automatic renewal. Unless you are using their videos or a homemade one you’re taking a risk that it will work. ### 3/5 — Can you please check on my uploads? *2023-03-07* Is there anything I am missing? I purchased this app a few minutes ago. Now, to be able to download my own videos, I had to pay $9.99 which I did. It says it’s good for 20 uploads. I uploaded two videos and after that it says I don’t have enough to upload. Whatever happened to my 18 remaining uploads? So I paid another $9.99 to be able to upload another video. It went thru and successful. Now it’s saying I have no more enough to download another video. So all in all you owe me 37 downloads. What’s going on? ### 1/5 — Reality check *2023-02-06, version 1.12.0* It’s been a year. In that time they’ve reduced what you get for what you pay for. Have gotten worse about disguising what their actual business model is. Are now charging 70 dollars for a yearly sub. I think when I first subbed it was 50 or so and they even said you’d get 50 upload credits but not if they’d refresh monthly or not. You’d think in a years time they would at least sort that out. The overall quality doesn’t justify this price there other apps on the store that do it just as good or better for less. Do yourself a favor and try all of the other options first. ### 3/5 — Needs Work *2023-01-08, version 1.11.1* This is a good app for AI but has a lot of bugs. I haven’t had the best user experience with it. The AI is hit or miss. If you are uploading from a web source this app will not always find or display the photo from your camera roll. There is also the issue of saving your creation to your camera roll once it’s created. I’ve run into the issue lately where once you click save it displays as “saving…” and will work and work and never actually save the picture. Also, paying for videos. You’re already paying for a premium account….having to pay for videos is just not fair. ### 3/5 — Unable to use some photos *2023-01-02, version 1.11.1* I’m not sure why but some of my photos are kicked out because the app can’t see them. I have no problem on any other reface apps with the same photos. Also, it would be nice to know ahead of time that there’s a limit to how many uploads you can do. I have the Pro edition. Also, the uploads that you don’t save are counted in the limited amount. I don’t think they should be unless you actually save them. Sone of them were distorted and some were kicked back as unable to detect a face, yet they still were counted in my alotted amount of uploads. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Multiple Year Customer Leaving *2023-12-19* Summary: This app used to provide a number of different features and methods to digitally edit a photo/video using AI. Now it only has one feature. Each update description says “Bug fixes and performance improvements” when in actuality they stripped 60 percent of the features from the app without telling their customers and are charging them even more now. Even if you paid for the additional features they later take away, you wont get a refund. I tried. Was using this app for a few years, now Im leaving. Your app had a few features that you completely removed after I paid for a subscription. Not sure how removing 60 percent of your apps functionality is a “performance improvement”, thats a performance reduction. You never told your customers you were removing these features, and you charged us more before removing them. Dont reply to this comment with a request to contact your customer service email, everything you need to know is included in every one star review. Either give back your customers what you had them initially pay for, or watch them all leave. ### 1/5 — App ruined by greed *2023-12-02* This used to be my go to app for AI, I’ve been a paid subscriber since the beginning, but of course that doesn’t matter when greed takes over the developers. They want to blame it on inflation!! I am 100% sure you guys aren’t suffering from any inflation regarding this app. Like the famous saying goes, “if ain’t broken, why fix it” that’s exactly what this apps model should’ve been. Had to unsubscribe after realizing how greedy the company became. They want to charge for every upload including pictures which used to be free. Now you have to basically pay each and every time you create a pic even if it’s horrible or looks nothing like the person. Very disappointed. At this level of greed, this apps days are numbered, specially with all the competition out there that charge wayyyy far less than this app. RIP FaceMagic ### 1/5 — STAY AWAY *2023-11-15* I tried it for a month and thought it was ok. After that, they offered a deal on a year membership so I signed up . A month and a half later, they changed the terms, charging for picture changes which had been free/included. The app itself only works on relative close ups. Any distance, like someone standing, the app doesn’t pick up the face. Which again makes it expensive when now you’re paying for a picture or video and only finding out when you see the results the app didn’t work ### 1/5 — Too Expensive! *2023-11-11* FaceMagic drastically changed its pricing terms with v2, you will now be charged 1 credit for 15 sec video face swap, 0.1 credit per picture face swap. AI face swaps often require a lot of trial and error to get the most suitable result — well now you’re being penalized for AI’s shortcomings since every good/bad swap will cost you credits. Currently, 20 credits cost USD$9.99 which is exorbitant in v2 as it leaves little room to test suitability. I’ve been a subscriber since May 2021, while I get that this is a business with server costs, this sudden change makes FM far far more expensive than its competitors. There are other apps out there with pretty good swap results that don’t charge their subscribers credits per swap like FM. Good luck. ### 1/5 — Was a favorite app of mine for years. But this new update is nothing but scamming users now... *2023-11-08* The new 2.0s “update” did nothing in the change of quality of the creations. In fact the only thing it did was now spend credits for videos ive had on it for years, which is nothing but a full on scam. How can you charge someone for every creation, and then lie about the quality change at the same time? Which even if it was now higher quality still doesnt take away youre now trying to scam money out of your users with this insane change. I didnt even mention the part where over 100 videos ive had on the app since around the time it came out were now labeled “doesn't exist” and wouldnt process even though the videos themselves were still playing right off the app at the same time. Few hundreds of dollars ive gotten im credits from this app over the years and you ruined it without any real warning. Will be unsubscribing and deleting very soon. So disappointing, facemagic one of my favorite apps. ### 1/5 — 2 year customer lost *2023-11-07* With the two recent changes having been made without reducing the subscription cost or even making subscribers aware, I’m going to be ending my subscription. The first change was to reduce the uploads per month from 50 to 20, again without a word or any notice, and then to compound that they made these tokens get expended when material is made from uploads, instead of uploads themselves. This means that I went from being able to get 12.5 minutes of video every month, swapped as many times and with as many faces as I want to try, to 5 minutes of swapping once and you’re done. The way you conducted these changes (disallowing new posts on the Reddit, not being transparent whatsoever) could be accurately described as dishonest and shady. **Developer response:** We apologize for any inconvenience that we caused. We are just an email away and will always be happy to assist you. ### 1/5 — Charging per swap now *2023-11-07* How can you charge credits for uploads, then switch it to charged per swap. So all the money / credits I used to upload videos in the first place are now useless. The way to use your credits has changed from per video upload based off of 15 second intervals. Now you have to use your credits to do a face swap and you’re charged credits for every single swap you do… so if I swap a 45 second video. Every single time I click create. It charges me 3 credits. This makes no sense. I’ve spent decent money with the app. Would be nice if you guys could credit me / reimburse the credits I used in the past to “upload” videos. Because all those credits spent are now basically worth nothing seeing as video uploads are free but swapping costs you.. ### 1/5 — Not working *2023-08-28* Here’s the problem with these app and the iPhone App Store that stops vetting the scammers. As soon as you pay your annual subscription, it stops working in a couple of weeks. You think, okay, I get another one. As soon as you pay subscription, it’s not working again. Usually the person who sells the access to the app has five other apps lined up with the same functions. When you denied access to the first one, and forced to get another one FROM the same seller, you will lose either access or some functions you’re promised and will be asked to pay AGAIN. None of these apps are functioning as promised. NONE. Actually I take that back Prequel does. The rest are scammers ### 1/5 — The app stoped working and credits disappeared! *2023-08-14* I purchased one year subscription that would be expiring this September. I would log on and off every so often and never had to type in log in credentials. It would log me in automatically and all of my credits would be there. With the latest update, it asks me to log in and when I do with my icloud account, it does not have any of my history. The previous account is gone and it wants me to subscribe again. I just don’t trust this app to spend any more money. The support team told me I need to change my password and that would retrieve my account. Worth to note that the log in does not ask for the password as long as I chose to log in with the icloud account. I have to say, when this app was working, it was the best app to use. I hope this gets fixed and we go back to normal. ### 1/5 — It's a money grab *2023-06-11* I don't know how this gets any good ratings from anyone. $10 to download the app. You can't do anything with it the app as it is. If you want to swap faces on a video you need to buy credits. So you buy $10 worth of credits. That will get you to swap faces on one video only. the quality of the face swap is terrible. Does it look anything like the face that you put on the video. It will also come and go as the video progresses so its just annoying. So you want to try another video? That's another 10 bucks for more credits. There are a couple out there that are close, but this app rules them all. Be sure to keep upgrading yawls app, to make sure your competitors can’t or won’t be better. I recommend this app, even though something that is awesome can always find room to be more awesome keep up the good work y’all , My only complaint is that after buying a monthly subscription you do not receive in return unlimited downloads ### 5/5 — Love this app *2022-12-02, version 1.11.0* This app is the most fun I have had in a long time when it comes to phone apps, if it’s something you find fun or interesting down load it and play around with it. There are ads And you will have to pay four full functions The ads are no problem you can skip them if you want after like 5 sec, and if I’m having this much fun when not paying I see myself paying for the full function and no ads.
