Basically just post your face with no movement on a live movie scene. Disappointing but you should expect that. They also want you to buy the movies for some reason. Going to delete the app now. **Developer response:** Hi, we're sorry you didn't like the result. To make the clip better you have to use photos without too hard shadows, front like a document photo. It is not compulsory to buy any films. It doesn’t however do the facial conversion particularly well and to download the videos you have to use iTunes? There are better options out there. **Developer response:** You don't have to use iTunes to download videos. You're getting confused with buying the original movie on iTunes. FaceStar has no additional costs and you can download your videos by clicking on the share button... you will see the save video button. You must use frontal images, as in identity documents. Images with good lighting and definition, without dark shadows on the face. Do not use filters, lights and colors are managed by the app. If you go to Instagram #facestar #faceoscar you will be able to see the clips posted by users from all over the world. ### 3/5 — I have my annoyances with it *2020-07-20* So, it’s a good price and good app. I would give it 5 star EXCEPT it doesn’t blend faces at all well to the clips. Like no matter how bright I take the pictures there’s always a dark like around where it’s added my face on making it look really bad. Also... the camera face shape is impossible to line up with my face as I don’t have ears that high up my head. Suggestions: It needs a feature to blend the face onto the video so it’s not so obvious it’s masked on because it makes it look really cheap and not much different from a free program online (which I won’t mention as it’s also got the same problem) ### 1/5 — Not good *2020-03-24* Really really bad. If you go to Instagram #facestar #faceoscar, you can see the clips published by users all over the world. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work as you would hope *2020-03-21* Literally tried a bunch of different photos of myself, even passport photos from the internet, pictures of friends, different lightings ect but none of the photos blended onto the video very well at alllll. Such a shame cause it seemed like such a fun app **Developer response:** Hi, you're confusing yourself with video preview, that's not you. After taking the selfie and choosing the title, click the central button. You will see the "My Movies" window and the "Editing" icon ... after a few seconds you will see the "Download" icon ... click and then click on the "Watch" icon again. You will be able to see the video with your face and share it. ### 2/5 — Disappointing - Clips too short *2020-01-04* Disappointed with this paid for app. The clips are far too short, with a lot of the clips not actually showing the face. The import of photos need work. Ideally it would make sense to import the photo and then add the face frame so it can be cropped as well as it possibly can. There isn’t a wide variety of clips, some seem forced and pointless (the footballers in particular). This could potentially be a really fun app with the right clips available. After 10minutes of using the app I was bored. Shame. **Developer response:** Some videos don't show face ... it's not true, all videos show face. Good for a laugh but that’s about it! In response to the developers question “why do you say this, what’s the problem?”: the quality of the superimposition isn’t very good. The app makes you laugh for a second or two, but that’s it. $4.50 for an app is a steep price to pay for a small laugh. **Developer response:** You have to use frontal images, like in identity documents ... images with good lighting, definition and without dark shadows on the face. It took over 12hrs to edit the video so I gave up and have asked for a refund. Waste of my time. **Developer response:** Hi, videos created with Facestar do not need to be purchased. Adding to my review after the developer response. I should have been more specific. There are limited scenes involving women and people of color. It would be nice to see scenes that fit different skin tones. If you’re a male with fair skin then there are options for you, but there are little to no scenes for people with darker skin tones. **Developer response:** Limited amount of scenes?
