## What is Factory of Categories?

****If you work on categories this app is a must! It allows you to work on categorization skills through different tasks which I haven’t seen offered in other apps. There are pictures supports with just about everything which is fantastic since the app is recommended for kids 3 and up. (  Maureen M.S.CCC-SLP, blogger)****

The Factory of Categories app was created by a certified speech and language pathologist for children aged 3 and up to practice classifying and naming categories.  

The ability to group objects according to their common characteristics is a basic concept that helps children build a basis for organizing not only their semantic knowledge but also their world. Classifying and categorizing provide the foundation for problem solving, remembering and integrating new information.

The animation and colorful graphics of the Factory of Categories app makes the learning process fun and motivating as children classify and organize different objects in the factory, where they pack boxes, put different objects on the wagons and throw certain objects in the bin. 

The Factory of Categories includes over 100 categories organized into three levels of difficulty. The first level includes simple categories such as food, animals, and toys, etc. The second level includes moderately complex categories such as reptiles, things in the air, and directions, etc. The third level includes the most complex categories such as gems, gases, things that expire, etc. 

The Factory of Categories offers 4 different activities:

-Where does it belong?
-Name this category
-Which one does not belong?
-Add one more item to the category

The Factory of Categories app is easy to navigate and allows users to employ several tools to perform the following tasks: 

-Enter multiple students
-Randomize pages
-Edit the list of categories

This app provides a variety of activities for children working on categories. I like that this app has different levels of learning.

### 2/5 — Fix a few things and the app will be much more user friendly for speech sessions

The first game, where does it belong, the cars are not properly aligned, not allowing the students to see the entire category or read the category aloud. This needs to be fixed in order for me to use it with my students. Also, it would be nice if the it would go back and forth from one activity to the next if more than one activity is picked. Instead, it only did one activity with my students for the entire time they were playing it, even though other activities were checked.  Not too happy with my purchase, especially for the price.
