## What is FairLedger?

FairLedger helps manage co-parent expenses, child support, alimony, custody, and communications in one place.

Unlike expense-sharing apps that settle one transaction at a time, FairLedger maintains separate running ledgers for shared expenses and support payments. Expenses and obligations accumulate naturally over time, so you settle when it makes sense—not after every transaction. Every approval, payment, dispute, and conversation is permanently timestamped, creating a clear financial history when it matters most.

SHARED EXPENSE LEDGER
Submit shared child-related expenses—including medical, school, activities, childcare, and more. The other parent approves or disputes each expense before it affects either parent's balance. Attach receipts, customize expense splits, and maintain a clear running total of who owes what.

SUPPORT LEDGER
Track child support and alimony separately from shared expenses. Support obligations accrue automatically each month, while payments require confirmation from the receiving parent—because one parent saying they paid isn't enough.

MUTUAL VERIFICATION
No financial transaction affects either parent's balance until both parents have participated. Shared expenses require approval. Support payments require recipient verification. Every action is timestamped and permanently recorded.

CUSTODY CALENDAR
Visualize your custody schedule with color-coded days for each parent. Track events, appointments, and activities, and request custody swaps for one or more days—all with a complete historical record.

CONVERSATIONS IN CONTEXT
Every expense, payment, custody swap, and calendar event has its own dedicated discussion. Conversations stay attached to the record they belong to, eliminating the need to reconstruct decisions from scattered text messages and email chains months later.

MESSAGE HUB
See every conversation requiring your attention in one place. The Message Hub highlights unread discussions and pending items so you always know what needs a response.

COURT-READY REPORTING
Generate comprehensive reports for any date range, including separate expense and support ledgers, receipts, approvals, disputes, balances, and conversation history. Designed for parents, mediators, attorneys, and courts that need a clear, chronological record.

SOLO MODE
Start using FairLedger on your own—no co-parent required. Track expenses, support, custody, events, and notes independently, then invite your co-parent whenever you're ready to activate shared ledgers and mutual verification.

FREE TRIAL
Start with a free 30-day trial—no credit card required. One subscription includes both parents, so you're never charged twice for the same family.

Subscription available for $9.99/month or $99.99/year through the App Store. Cancel anytime.

### 5/5 — Shirley

*2026-07-21*

Most co-parenting apps I've tried feel either too basic or way more complicated than they need to be. FairLedger was surprisingly easy to get started with. I especially like having the custody schedule and expenses in the same app since those things usually go hand in hand. After using it for a while, I found myself checking it instead of scrolling through old messages trying to remember what happened.

### 5/5 — Jason

I've been looking for a better way to keep track of everything that comes with co-parenting, and this is the first app that's really clicked for me. The custody calendar was what caught my attention, but I ended up using it for expenses too because it just keeps everything together. It's nice not having to dig through old texts or emails to remember who paid for something or what was agreed to. It feels organized without being complicated.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-19

Message Review
Before you send a message, tap Review. It checks what you have written using the BIFF method (brief, informative, friendly, firm) and suggests a calmer version. Hard conversations stay factual, and the record stays clean.

A better way to invite your co-parent
Invite emails from a new app often land in spam. Now you send the join link yourself, from your own email or text, so it comes from someone your co-parent recognizes. A pending invite is visible on your account with the date it was sent, and you can resend it or copy the link any time.

FairLedger Statement
Generate a clear, invoice style statement of what is owed. Print it, save it as a PDF, or share a link with the other parent. No account needed to view it. Pick the ledger and categories you want to include.

Your balance now shows what is pending
If you have entered expenses your co-parent has not reviewed yet, your balance no longer reads as settled. You will see how much is waiting on them and how much is waiting on you, so nothing you have recorded is hidden.

Notes on calendar events
Events now have a Notes field for the detail that does not belong in the title, so a title stays short and readable on the calendar.

Calendar and custody
A redesigned calendar with clearer colors, five more custody schedule patterns (every other week, 3-4-4-3, 4-3, 5-2), and the ability to record a custody swap in solo mode.

Expenses and recurring transactions
View receipts without leaving the app. Edit a recurring transaction, and set any split percentage instead of picking from presets. In duo families, changing a financial term sends the rule back for approval.

Account deletion you can undo
Deleting your account now starts a 30 day window. Sign back in during that time and restore everything exactly as it was. After 30 days it is permanently erased, including receipts and documents.

Fixes and polish
Faster Getting Started, clearer empty states, a Done button and save confirmation on detail screens, first name hints on name fields, corrected dates on reports, and a number of smaller fixes throughout.
