But while he app remains ok, it’s nearly useless in the store. A couple of years ago they updated the scales for weighing and scanning, and killed the ability to search by name (which is universal in every other market) you now have to wade through an absurd menu of veggie types (who knew potatoes weren’t in the root vegetable menu!). It can literally take five minutes to find an item—and nearly half the time you never find it. The menu for the olive bar has never worked; so forget about buying olives. And there are always packaged items that don’t show upon scans either. I used to shop at Fairway at least twice a week. Now it’s maybe once every four or five months because the frustration with mobile scanning is too great. And I *always* end up putting at least 3 or 4 things back on the shelf either because the barcode isn’t found or because I can’t find the fruit or veg in the insane menu system. PLEASE Fairway, you have great products…but you need to ditch the scale software that apparently was designed by chimpanzees and use the same scale software every other market in America now uses. ### 1/5 — SNAP users would ALSO like to SAVE TIME by using the mobile checkout option!! *2025-09-30* I was so happy to discover the “mobile checkout option”. Unfortunately, because I am a SNAP (food stamps) customer, the app doesn’t allow me to use it. I am relegated into waiting in the LONG, LONG LINES to check out. UNFAIR!!! There are many times, when the lines are so long, I leave the items in my basket, leave the store, and make my purchases at a more SNAP user-friendly store. Please, please, please, fix things so I can add my SNAP card as a payment option!!! When I make online food purchases, this is permitted. (I am required to have a debit/credit card on my account to pay for non-SNAP eligible items.) There should be a way to do this! After all, it is 2025!!! When I click order ahead it is blank ### 3/5 — Going Downhill *2023-12-15* The mobile checkout system at Fairway was once superb. During the pandemic, with social distancing concerns, it was a lifesaver. I urged all my friends to shope late at night and use this app to keep one's distance. But changes within the Fairway store in 2023 have made it an exercise in frustration, and Fairway is no longer my exclusive store. There are always items whose barcode the app can't find now. And most absurd of all, they've changed the software on the in-store scale one uses with the app. Unlike every other supermarket, you can't look up an item by name if you don't know its code. Instead there is a useless menu to choose items by category (fruit, vegetable, olives, etc.) 100% of the time I've attempted to use this I have failed to find the fruit or vegetable and have put it back on the shelf after waisting minutes repeatedl searching categories. Tragic. Fairway was once a pioneer and star of the mobile app shopping world. In 2023, with its useless in-store scale system and spotty code recognition it's just pathetic. ### 2/5 — Cannot link insider account *2023-07-31* I loved the mobile app but unfortunately my insider account won’t link up.
