## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not easy

*2026-07-23*

This sucks to try and figure with the current instructions

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-05-27*

Claims to have free functions, but when I try to just track a simple ball at the driving range, it cuts the video off at the moment of impact every single time. They’re just trying to get you to pay through lies and misleading. I’m new to the game and didn’t necessarily want to invest a bunch of money at the very start. Maybe show people the features and they might actually want to purchase this

**Developer response:** Sorry for the frustrating experience. Golf Shot Tracer offers a free trial so users can test the app before subscribing, but we don’t advertise unlimited free tracing/export features.

A video cutting off right at impact usually means something went wrong with that specific trace setup or processing. The best way for us to help is through the in-app feedback system: after the trace, tap thumbs down and opt to share the video with us. That lets us review the actual clip and understand whether ball visibility, camera placement, timing, or another factor caused the result.

Thanks for the feedback, we’re continuing to improve how clearly the trial explains what’s included and how to get the best tracing results.

### 1/5 — Bad tracing

*2026-05-18*

Doesn’t trace the ball at all.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-05-03*

Slow awkward app not worth it

### 1/5 — Liars

*2026-04-12*

They tell me that the microphone and limited library access are optional but if I don’t grant FULL access the camera won’t work! And why make tracers of past shots. I want LIVE tracers. How does that work? No clue

**Developer response:** Sorry for the frustration here. Full photo library access should not be required just to use the camera, and we’re investigating that now. Golf Shot Tracer currently generates tracers quickly after a shot is recorded, rather than live, because we’re prioritizing accuracy over real-time speed. We agree that should be much clearer in the app, and we appreciate the feedback.

### 1/5 — Scam Trial

*2026-03-14*

When I installed the app there was a window saying that it would give you a 3 day free trial but when I subscribed there was no free trial. I will be reporting this to the App Store for deceptive tactics.

**Developer response:** Sorry for the confusion and frustration here. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have. Free trials are managed through Apple’s subscription flow, and eligibility can vary depending on account status or prior subscriptions. If you were charged unexpectedly, please contact us with your Apple subscription receipt so we can look into what happened and help clarify the charge.

### 1/5 — Very bad

*2026-02-28*

Really terrible experience using this during the 3 day trial. Kept pushing for 100fps and the tracer was not accurate

**Developer response:** Hello, we are sorry you had a bad experience. We encourage users to use our in-app camera which records at 120fps/1080p for best results. The higher framerate allows for much better tracking results. The auto tracer is still something we are constantly improving as we get more data so we hope you decide to try it again soon. We still maintain a manual tracer option for any of those auto tracers that don't quite look right.

### 1/5 — Dark patterns

*2026-02-07*

Harasses you with lots of dark patterns to get full access to device data (eg tricks you into thinking you must give it all photos), notifications for spam and subscription

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your feedback. We want to address your concerns:

Photo access — Golf Shot Tracer needs access to your videos so you can select a golf swing to trace. On iOS, you can choose “Allow Access to Selected Photos” to share only specific videos rather than your full library. We never upload or store your media on our servers — all processing happens on your device.

Notifications — Notifications are currently only used to remind you before your free trial expires, so you don’t get charged if the app isn’t the right fit. You can decline the prompt or disable notifications anytime in Settings.

Subscription — A subscription is required to export traced videos, but we offer a free trial so you can make sure the app performs as expected before committing. The revenue from subscriptions is what allows us to continue building and improving Golf Shot Tracer for our users.

We take your feedback seriously and appreciate you sharing it.

### 2/5 — Don’t try

*2026-07-30*

Didn’t give a reading of the ball

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2026-07-12*

Update?? Every time I try to use the thing it freezes. I have an iPhone 16 Pro.

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Immediately my favorite

*2026-01-17*

I have tried several other tracer apps and this one is by far the best. It’s the most accurate by a mile. If only my driver was too 🤷

### 5/5 — My new go to

*2026-01-14*

Perfect at the range if you have a stand or with a friend. Just use a stand to hold your phone. Super easy to track your ball and analyze your swing

### 5/5 — Automatic tracking

*2026-01-14*

The automatic tracking is really a game changer. It seems to be pretty accurate and saves so much time.

### 4/5 — Good and bad

*2026-08-10*

Apps good but you have to pay

### 3/5 — Nice app but only paid

*2026-05-21*

App is a 10/10,
Only downside is that you have to pay to export the video

### 2/5 — Hang time

*2026-05-14*

This is so much better now, bu the hang time is all messed up. The trace is great until the high point and then the trace ZOOMS down to the ground. It needs to have some sort of hang time adjustment, it also needs to be able to shape the landing, it traces to the high point and then the fall line is a straight line

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, this is really helpful feedback. I’m glad to hear the trace itself is working much better up to the high point, and I completely understand what you mean about the continuation after that feeling too fast and too straight.

You’re right that the app needs more control over the post-apex ball flight, especially hang time / descent speed and the shape of the landing path. That’s a very clear improvement area, and we’re going to use this feedback to make the continuation feel more natural and customizable.

I really appreciate you sticking with the app and pointing this out in such a specific way. Feedback like this helps us improve the tracer in the exact places golfers actually notice.
