Literally none of the setup options worked. No, you could follow the steps and do what it would ask you to do just fine, it would just randomly break and decide not to recognize your device or network. The sign up was also odd considering the phone number option didn’t work.

The most milquetoast of LED control apps. Unfortunately, it’s the only app for SP511E unless you’re equipped to take apart the controller and hardware jockey a flash to a universal standard to get more controls. Ain’t doing that to accomplish the ONE thing I wish to do and that is group these lights to work as one. All other competitors seem to accomplish that except this one.

The lamp was changing colors and beautiful. Tried to set it up, the lamp turned white, button stopped working, so we undownloaded the app to reinstall it. Well now it wont let my phone install the app again and the lamp will not go from any color except white and will only turn off if unplugged. Very disappointing.

Based on the reviews I figured it was trash, it is not. It’s actually pretty great for the price. I would love the option to set total led count and define segments. If the developer could manage this, then it could replace the the WLED solution for EOU.

Recently bought these for use at my church. I had a different brand of controller that was pretty limited in its dynamic modes. I’ve had the previous strips and controller for about two years now I think. But man, this controller has WAY better features. In fact, they are features I recommended to the other developers which they told me were in progress but never pushed to the app. I gave it four stars because I can only group my strips via the Google Home app, but I can’t control the dynamic functions of my pixels through GH. If you add grouping for my strips
in the fairy nest app, I will come back and change my review to 5 stars. Please add that feature!

I dropped a star recently because I haven’t heard back about the grouping feature. Still a great program, but grouping would make it almost perfect to me.

Connected my light just fine at first, then quickly went downhill from there. First it stopped doing static colors correctly, then it wouldn’t let me re-name the device, then the unit disconnected and couldn’t be re-paired, then the app crashed when I tried logging out and back in. Cannot get the unit to enter pairing mode again. Rad product. Utter garbage.

I originally had some issues with the LED controller disconnecting every day, but those issues have since gone away. I’m not sure if this is because of an update or whether it just resolved itself, but I am very happy with the app now.
However, I have one complaint still. I would really like the ability to set the strip to a warm white color using Alexa, or at least allow me to set it to one of my saved colors in the app, so that I do not have to open the app to get a warm white color. This is the only inconvenience, and although I am not a programmer, seems like it should be a pretty easy patch to add that feature. If that feature was added, this would absolutely be the perfect LED controller/app.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I got this LED strip controller after trying a few others. None had the ease of access and lighting effects that this one does. The transitions in effects are smooth, setup was the easiest I’ve ever seen, and the lights work wonderfully. I do have a couple of complaints, however:

1. When disconnected from internet, the led strip does not automatically reconnect. My internet router reboots every night, causing me to have to set up the LED controller every day as if it were the first time using it. This could probably be fixed in a firmware update.

2. The Amazon Alexa commands work, but are not perfect. I am unable to activate dynamic effects as part of a scene. This could be fixed if the developers set up the dynamic effects as scenes for Amazon Alexa.

Overall I love this led controller and with just a couple minor tweaks to software it could be perfect. It is just very frustrating to set up again every day.

I’ve gotten locked out of my account and couldn’t access it, I logged out and made a new account but I wouldn’t let me make another account, I’ve been locked out for over 3 months and I’m getting bored of just the classic rainbow colours please fix it, I can’t afford more. Thank you❤️

The app is terrible, not sure why we’re not able to control the lights from our phone without a Wi-Fi network. Having to create an account with the password, email verification, Wi-Fi network, password, etc. into an app just to control lights is silly.  Plenty of other app controlled lights just use Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi from the device directly. If you are purchasing this controller to use in an area that does not have Wi-Fi, this is not the controller for you.

The app requires precise location to be enabled in order to connect the device to Wi-Fi. 
Thankfully you can and should turn off the location sharing once Wi-Fi is enabled in the device.

Don’t use your phone number to sign up, it won’t work. Use your email. Then Connect to router manually (not automatically). Make sure to follow instructions! It should be easy. This worked for me!

So yeah it only works with 2.4 and that’s fine. I figured out how to change my router so it give me that option to change between the 2 ( i just counted an old router box that had them slip so that just made simple ) . And where do I get more led lights, I can’t find them on Amazon ????

Please confirm whether the location permission is enabled for the APP, and your wifi must be 2.4Ghz.

If you can't connect controller into a network, 
1.please make sure you are NOT connecting a 5Ghz WiFi, the controller only supports 2.4GHz WiFi.
2.please make sure you have enough power when you configuring the controller to the WiFi network, you can try to disconnect the LED or connect less LED to make the controller has enough power when it configuring. 
3.please keep your phone, controller and WiFi router closer to maintain a stronger signal during configure processing.

if you try all of these but still failed, then there may be a compatible issue, to solve the issue please try:
a.get another phone or tablet, open the hot-spot, make sure your hotspot's name is simple(no strange texts or emoji);
b.connect your phone to that hot-spot, now hot-spot-phone is like a router, do the configure processes.
c.if you finish the configuration, and the controller is online, update your controller's firmware to the latest version(the latest version has some improvements to the compatible issue)
d.Try with your WiFi router again(you can use Auto Mode & Manual Mode)

Upon receiving these lights I ran into some problems with connecting them into the network. I messaged them and Derek helped me through it all with instant questions and answers. I can’t thank you guys enough for helping me get these to work, it was all worth the wait. Several different amazing modes and unlimited vibrant colors to choose from. GREAT addition to my room, just what I NEEDED.

If the app crashes delete the app and reinstall it and if it cannot connect to device, delete it and reinstall it, you cannot use your phone number to create an account. You must use a email. my experience was not user-friendly, but once set up works, just fine. Wish there is updates.

Having tried and used many different apps to control LED lighting, Fairy Nest has been one of the easiest to set up and it has a very good UI.  Having the sound receiving 'mic' on the controller rather than the app assures it reacts to music where people hear and see audio/visuals together. It would be nice if developers could update the app more frequently adding new patterns/scenes, but the ones included work well for many different occasions.

It would be great to include a share function because only one device can be connected to account, meaning if you are on an other mobile phone/tablet you constantly need to enter password again.
A scene function would be great too. Therefore Alexa/Google could call up the scene.
Otherwise the APP is running well with my device can't remember if I ever had an issue over two years compared with other home automation APPs that have moments of issues.
