### 4/5 — It is so sad to see goodbye

*2025-05-23*

I have been using fakespot for very long time. I cannot find any other one that is as good as this one. I will be so sad..

### 4/5 — Great app with one annoyance

*2025-03-31, version 1.2.7*

Very useful for weeding out fake ratings. Unfortunately, you can’t move the bottom bar which covers the button that allows you to apply Amazon filters. This means that when you try to filter prices by price, etc., you can’t push the button to apply the filter, which prevents you from using Amazon filters.

### 4/5 — Good, but don’t use it directly

*2025-03-26, version 1.2.7*

It’s alright, but a little clunky. The app is actually better used when it’s not directly used, and I will try to explain what I mean. If you’re using the app, you’re basically just using it as a browser to go on marketplace websites like Amazon. The main difference is that when looking at a product (and you have to click on the product, the search results page gives you no extra information than any other browser) you have the “Fakespot Review Grade” available to you, which is a letter grade, and two star ratings: the star rating the website has and then the Fakespot “adjusted” one, but this isn’t really much information at all. You then have the option to open the full analysis on the actual Fakespot website, and it’s just strange to me as to why you wouldn’t just have the analysis readily available in the first place instead so that you can actually see how the review grade was decided without the extra step.
Because of this, it’s actually better to use this app indirectly via the share menu when looking at a product on say, the Amazon app. When you tap the share option (the box with the arrow), then “More”, you should be taken to the standard iOS share menu. Scrolling down should give you an option to “Analyze with Fakespot”, and this option actually does give you the full analysis immediately. If it’s not there, you may need to add it from the “Edit Actions” menu.
This method is preferable to me instead of using the app, because honestly my main gripe with the app (and what drove me to write this unnecessarily long review) is that for some reason, it starts autoplaying ANY video that is currently on your screen as if you clicked on it to view it, which puts the screen in “theatre mode” so that only the video is shown and the rest of the screen is blacked out. It’s INCREDIBLY annoying because Amazon is riddled with these videos. If the product page has a video, even if it’s not the first image, it will autoplay regardless as soon as the page loads. EVERY time a sponsored video of a product shows up when you’re scrolling down on a search results page, your screen will black out with only the video being shown and you have to click out of it. As far as I can see, there’s no setting that turns this off. I have no idea whether this was an intended feature or not but it renders the app basically unusable for me because I’m constantly interrupted by a video. So basically, the app is good, but only if you’re not directly using it.

### 3/5 — It just looks at other reviews.

*2024-12-12*

Not quite sure how this is so beneficial for my online shopping…

### 4/5 — US Amazon only

*2024-11-21, version 1.2.7*

Not for Canadian Amazon

### 2/5 — Not exhaustive

*2024-11-01, version 1.2.7*

Some of the items on Amazon have no analyses. When you try and run some. All you seem to get is an advert to install the app (which you are ironically using)

### 4/5 — Just downloaded

*2024-09-25*

After IOS update it keeps crashing
Edit it’s fixed just had to redownload
But would like restaurant ratings to be added because there are some restaurants that scam and that could save people a lot of money.

### 3/5 — Portrait Only on IPad mini

*2024-05-05, version 1.2.7*

It’s a deal breaker for me.

### 1/5 — Loved it but now crashes

*2024-04-30, version 1.2.7*

I’m using iOS 17.4.1. The app won’t stay open and is useless. I have to use the online version now. Please fix! I use it all the time!

### 2/5 — Sadly, the Ads Ruin Everything

*2024-04-13, version 1.2.7*

I love Fakespot on my windows desktop with edge. It just is so seamless and nice. With this iOS app, the ads are intolerable. I cannot scroll past them, they take over the whole app, and they show up like every third item when I’m searching on Amazon. When I just quickly tap on an item to see the letter score, I have to use the back button bringing me to the top of searches again. And of course - more ads.

I don’t know if the ugliness is due to Apple restrictions or what. Wait until you are in front of a real browser on a computer and skip the iOS app experience.

### 3/5 — It works mostly well

*2024-04-12, version 1.2.7*

I would give it more stars but it has a few issues:

You have to click on the product to see the rating. I’d like it better if the rating was directly next to the product name on the search results

The app runs slowly

When you’re on Amazon scrolling thru the search results, any videos on the page will force full screen view. This is incredibly annoying!

Otherwise, I like being able to see the ratings so I can make sure I’m not buying junk

### 1/5 — Painful, and useless

*2024-04-10*

Don’t bother. Fakespot doesn’t run as a browser plugin like you get on desktop - that’s useful. This “browser” is painful. Save your frustration and go back to the desktop I guess.

### 2/5 — Like the previous format much better

*2024-02-24*

I understand that this update to the trusty old Fakespot app results from a lawsuit. And I expect that the Fakespot app people are doing their level best to keep their app product useful. I’m just a little too daft to figure out how this new version works.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Literally does nothing

*2025-04-12*

It’s a browser. It allows you to submit URLs and move pages forward/backwards. That is all.

Probably the most absolute braindead application I’ve ever encountered.

Very, very terrible job on the developer’s end.

### 1/5 — Boomers pay attention

*2025-01-09, version 1.2.7*

Downloading this “app” does two things: 1. It gives you an app with a browser that no one uses. 2. It gives you an extension in Amazon that when you click the box with an up arrow (usually on the picture of the item) you can choose “analyze with fake spot”

No need to use the app, or create an account, or login to anything. Just open Amazon.

You’re welcome

### 1/5 — Very confusing

*2024-12-06, version 1.2.7*

I have no idea how to use this app. The instructions are simple but confusing. Went to Amazon and didn’t see any thing from Fakespot. Deleting….

### 1/5 — This is tracking software

*2024-11-22, version 1.2.7*

Don’t download this app. It’s a tracking app.

### 1/5 — Fudgespot

*2024-10-02, version 1.2.7*

Number of reviews: 2,534.
After waiting an age for this thing to finish analysing it returned its result:
“Analysis not available. Not enough reviews.”
Are you actually for real? It used to be OK years ago but it's no longer relevant.

### 1/5 — Junk, junk, junk

*2024-07-23, version 1.2.7*

I was hoping this app would provide what it actually claims it can do but it’s just more app junk. RUN! Do not look back!

### 1/5 — Amazon USA only

*2024-07-06, version 1.2.7*

Can’t use in the wide side iPad I don’t like it

### 1/5 — Does not work at all

*2024-06-17*

I love the fakespot extension on my laptop and thought it would be nice here. Wrong. It doesn’t show any ratings. It’s just a regular web browser that’s slower and worse, with no added ratings shown. I tried to go into the settings and see what to do but there are not settings. Don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2024-06-02*

Small business owner and went to my own product reviews and it states none are authentic. Which is incredibly untrue. Bad for small businesses as whatever algorithm they are using is simply wrong

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2024-05-25*

Title says it all. The app doesn’t work, I can’t get it to analyze anything. Instructions say to copy and paste a URL into the search bar to do so or choose a browser and navigate to a page, then analyze.

But there is no way to analyze!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I LOVE THIS APP

*2025-05-31*

I don’t know the reasoning behind Fakespot no longer being available after July 1, 2025; but this seriously makes me VERY SAD! This is such an amazing app that has saved me a lot of time & money by weeding out all the fake reviews these deceiving companies do to us! PLEASE FAKESPOT reconsider providing us your excellent customer service??? If I could give this app 10 stars I would!

### 5/5 — PLEASE DON’T SHUT DOWN

*2025-05-26*

I need you ☹️ I have always relied on this app since I downloaded it. Unsure if there’s another app like this.😭

### 5/5 — The BEST! MUST HAVE. SAVE FAKESPOT!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*2025-05-23, version 1.2.7*

The BEST! MUST HAVE.

SAVE FAKESPOT!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 5/5 — Spot.Fake.Reviews.with.AI

*2024-10-12, version 1.2.7*

Very good app to analyze reviews for deception using AI algorithms. Summarizes the reviews with a Pro/Con list. Gives products an A-F grade. This weeds out “fake” positive reviews! Works great on Amazon!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2024-08-22*

This app is the perfect tool to prevent me from overspending on items that don’t meet my high standards for quality products. It saves me a lot of time and gas on doing returns as well.

### 5/5 — Saves $, time & frustration

*2024-04-27, version 1.2.7*

…and it’s free!

### 5/5 — Review s

*2024-03-02, version 1.2.7*

Great reliable app thanks

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-01-13, version 1.2.7*

I think it’s a wonderful platform but I won’t speak on that, just the app.

I think the app is quite good, it is essentially a web browser that cuts an extra step off for analysing reviews, easy click of button.

No ads, simple design, well-made, efficient, fast. Much much better than the ReviewMeta app. As a platform it’s only improved hugely this past year and I’m sure it will continue to do so.

I’m not a fan of in-app-purchases and subscriptions but this is something I’d be willing to pay for. On the condition of course that I don’t feel forced to do so, and that they don’t put everything behind a paywall or bring in annoying adverts

### 5/5 — Wow. An Amazon eye opener

*2023-12-10, version 1.2.7*

I always knew reviewers faked stuff but Fakespot puts reviews to the test

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2023-12-06, version 1.2.7*

This app has been a huge game changer! There are many items I would have bought based on the “good/great” reviews. Since I’ve started using this app I’ve avoided being disappointed or upset about a purchase from Amazon. I haven’t tried it with Facebook or other websites but I rarely buy anything from Facebook or other websites that you can use Fakespot on. I do wish Fakespot worked on Etsy but then again I haven’t been disappointed or upset by anything I’ve bought on the Etsy website.
