Navigation/UI

My only complaint Is that it changed, it’s not as easy/intuitive as the predecessor,
Please change it back

A workhorse, but not a champion

A reliable DICOM viewer that lacks the charm of its bigger brothers such as Sectra or Visage. Clunky tool operations, non-intuitive positioning of windows, an MPR that does not accommodate for measurements to be saved on a particular MPR plane, propensity to crash during huge manual imports. A good viewer, but requires extensive manual oversight of studies and cases and is unforgiving in terms of trying to pull a diagnosis. Usable? Yes. Accessible? Yes, especially for academics. Ideal? Not really, but better than nothing; particularly, better than Horos (clunky study management) and arguably better than OsiriX.

Response from developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We’d like to investigate the issues you mentioned, particularly MPR behavior and stability during large imports. Please contact us at info@icat.solutions with additional details (e.g. dataset size and steps to reproduce), so we can review and improve these areas. Falcon MD is actively developed and widely used in both academic and professional settings, and feedback like this is valuable in refining the workflow. — Falcon MD Team

PACS interface

Does not work well with other dcm toolkits. Had no luck trying to send studies via their DICOM listener using any of the DCM4CHE products or the DCMTK products.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. Falcon MD supports standard DICOM communication protocols and is fully compatible with most DICOM toolkits, including DCMTK and DCM4CHE, when configured correctly. If you’re experiencing issues sending studies, please contact our support team at info@icat.solutions — we’ll be glad to help you verify your configuration and ensure smooth integration.

Better than I originally realized

Long time Horos user, Osiris before that. Moved to Horos when Osiris became cost prohibitive, now Horos has done the same thing except the cost is more reasonable however, the interface is slightly less intuitive. After a bit of snooping around it actually is quite a nice program so I am revising my initial review. Appreciate the responsiveness of the developer to my questions!

Response from developer

The app fully supports multiplanar reformats and 3D views, as many users do this daily without issue. Please review the manual or contact support for guidance. We’d be happy to assist.

Correction

After a bit of time working with this app, I did find a lot of of the functionality I thought was missing. It is not as intuitively designed as the predecessor, however it does also have some significant upgraded advantages. Would be great if the user manual was prominently displayed or downloaded as a separate file with the program.
