## What is FallGuard?

FallGuard keeps your family safe by detecting falls and streaming live vitals from your loved one's Apple Watch to your phone — instantly.

LIVE VITALS, ON YOUR DASHBOARD
See heart rate, breathing, and blood oxygen as the watch reads them. Open the app and the latest readings are waiting for you.

CUSTOM ALERT LEVELS
Set the limits that matter for the person you're watching over. Heart rate above 100? Below 50? Oxygen below 92%? Their watch fires an alert the moment any value crosses your threshold — no waiting hours for the next summary.

FALL DETECTION
When the wearer's Apple Watch detects a fall, FallGuard immediately sends an urgent push notification with the time and GPS location to all caregivers. No checking email, no delays — an instant alert right on your iPhone.

ONE PERSON, ONE CARD
The redesigned dashboard shows a big card for each person you're watching over — their name, status, and last update at a glance. Tap a card for full details.

SIMPLE SETUP
Pick whether you're wearing the watch or someone else is, and the app shows you the right experience. Add a person with their family code and you're done — no jargon, no menus to dig through.

WHO IT'S FOR
Adult children watching over aging parents. Caregivers monitoring patients. Anyone who wants real-time visibility into a family member's health and safety, without waking up at night wondering if they're okay.

PRIVACY
Vitals data only flows to caregivers who joined with your family code. Apple Watch handles fall detection and emergency calling at the OS level — FallGuard never replaces that, only supplements it with family-side awareness.

REQUIREMENTS
• An Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later for the wearer
• An iPhone running iOS 17 or later for caregivers
• HealthKit and Notifications permissions

A FULL DAY OF HEALTH, NOT JUST A MOMENT
FallGuard records vitals throughout the day and keeps a history, so you can see trends over time — not just a single stale reading. Compare this week to last to catch changes early.

KNOW THE WATCH IS WORKING
See at a glance whether the watch is worn, off, or charging, plus its battery and your loved one's phone battery — so you always know whether "no update" means all is well or the watch just needs putting on.

## Frequently asked questions about FallGuard

### How does FallGuard Companion detect falls?

FallGuard Companion leverages the fall detection capabilities built into the wearer's Apple Watch. When the watch detects a fall, it triggers an immediate alert through the companion app.

### What vital signs can FallGuard Companion monitor?

The app streams live heart rate, breathing rate, and blood oxygen levels directly from the wearer's Apple Watch to the caregiver's iPhone. These readings are updated in real-time.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.8 — 2026-08-22

This update makes the dashboard tell you the truth about every reading.

- Each reading now shows when it was actually measured, not when the app last checked in. If we don't know how old something is, we say so instead of guessing.
- Fixed an alert that could report an impossible number of days since a watch was last heard from.
- The dashboard no longer shows a heart rate or blood oxygen while the watch is on the charger.
- Location updates more reliably, and can now come from the watch itself.
- Clearer, calmer status messages. No more asking you to go check the watch.
- Your loved one's name now appears consistently throughout the app.

### 2.7 — 2026-08-10

This update makes FallGuard work for more families, and keeps everyone's information where it belongs.

- Apple Watches set up through Family Setup can now use FallGuard on their own, without needing their own iPhone.
- Caregivers can send a check-in straight to their loved one's watch, and see the reply when they tap "I'm OK."
- Your family code is now protected. If you watch over someone else, joining their code can never replace your own.
- Readings stay with the right person, so one family's information never appears in another's.
- Watches that stop reporting are now woken automatically, so vitals stay current without anyone opening the app.
- Fewer repeat emails about check-ins, and you can choose to get them in the app only.

### 2.6 — 2026-08-01

This update makes FallGuard quieter, tougher, and easier to trust.

- Fall alerts can now break through Do Not Disturb on caregivers' iPhones, so the moment that matters always gets through.
- New Notification Preferences in Settings: "All alerts," "Falls + urgent vitals," or "Falls only."
- Tap any reading to learn what it means, how often the watch measures it, and when an older reading is perfectly normal.
- The Refresh button now tells you exactly what responded - and what didn't.
- Truthful timestamps everywhere: every reading shows when it was actually taken.
- Far fewer repeat notifications - reminders arrive at most once a day, and only when they are meaningful.
- Major reliability upgrade for Apple Watch readings: vitals keep flowing in the background, recover automatically after updates and restarts, and the watch keeps reporting its battery even while charging.
- Fall alerts are more resilient and send reliably the moment they are detected.
- Fixed an issue where the app could show "phone offline" next to up-to-date readings.

Thanks for using FallGuard to help keep your family safe.

### 2.5 — 2026-07-19

FallGuard 2.5 is our biggest reliability update yet.

• All-day vitals: your loved one's watch now reports heart rate, breathing, blood oxygen, and steps automatically throughout the day
• New History tab: browse the week's readings with averages over time, plus a quiet event log — anything worth knowing is noted there instead of becoming another notification
• Honest timestamps: every reading shows exactly when it was taken
• Calm status: see "watch charging" or "off wrist" instead of a false alarm — alerts only fire when silence is truly unexplained
• Smarter notifications: if readings stop unexpectedly, family gets escalating follow-ups until things return to normal
• New safety net: an urgent alert if the watch is on the wrist but can't get a heart-rate reading
• Location now updates reliably, with clear status when it's turned off
• More dependable email alerts
• Many fixes and improvements under the hood

### 2.2 — 2026-06-21

A fuller picture of your loved one's health.

NEW HOME SCREEN
• A body-map view — each vital wraps around your loved one's figure and points to what it's watching: heart rate to the heart, oxygen to the lungs, watch battery to the wrist, steps to the legs.

A FULL DAY, NOT A SNAPSHOT
• FallGuard now keeps a running history of vitals all day. See a timeline of every update, and compare this week to last week to spot trends — like resting heart rate creeping up or activity dropping off.

KNOW WHEN THE WATCH IS OFF
• The home screen now shows whether the watch is being worn, off, or charging — so a quiet stretch reads as "they haven't put it on," not a false worry.

MORE TO WATCH
• Daily steps and activity, resting heart rate, watch and phone battery, and location.

WEEKLY CHECK-IN
• A gentle weekly summary so you can see how their week went at a glance.
