It was suggested to me to get an Apple Watch. I purchased one & added this app. I had this app on for about two months. Every time I would toss my phone on my bed, the counter, etc. it would contact my daughter. It got quite annoying! Last week, I got on a 5’ ladder to hang something on my wall. I FELL FROM THE TOP RUNG. I ended up with a crushed heel, a sprain on my wrist & a lot of bruises. I was home alone with my mom who has Alzheimer’s Dementia. THE FALL DETECTION NEVER, NEVER WENT OFF!!! I had to crawl to another room to get my phone to call for help. They need to redo how you add emergency contacts. It requires your contacts to have an email which is bad and when it does not accept an email the app freezes. The app was silent. ### 1/5 — How do you have to fall??? *2019-11-17, version 2.3* This is the second time that I have fallen and NOTHING happened. I have my iPhone and Apple Watch and neither of them sent any type of alert, the app didn’t even pop up on the screen. I have it set to detect any fall due to a medication I’m taking. I run, hike, play softball. I love to be outdoors. But, I am aware that at my age things can happen that could drastically change my lifestyle. It was time to look for an alert. My wife has fall alert on her iPhone 4. I have an iPhone 3 which did not come with this feature. I found FallSafety in the App Store, the price was reasonable so I purchased it. Very shortly after my purchase I started having issues. The app won’t close on my phone screen and still I get messages that the setup isn’t complete; it is not monitoring. This in spite of going through the setup steps and sending 3 test alerts to my contact person. When I purchased the app I got a very nice email from the developer thanking me for my purchase. I sent him a message stating my issues and have not heard back from anyone at FallSafety. I feel like I got scammed! **Developer response:** Hello. Thank you for your feedback. We have since updated the app to address the issue. It took a while, but the update was approved today by Apple and is now live. ### 1/5 — So bad... *2019-10-21, version 1.9* I really wanted this to be a good solution for my elderly mother. The family all got together and pitched in and bought her an Apple Watch and we installed the software. First off it’s so very unintuitive. You go to a screen and can’t figure out how to get out of it. I finally figured out you’re supposed to just swipe on the screen like this is tinder or something. My mom nor I doesn’t go on the tinder she doesn’t know about right swipes. Know your audience. After she fell the first time and the watch didn’t do anything, I checked and it hadn’t been operating for 17 days. Apparently anytime anything happens like your phone gets turned off you have to restart the software. I’m not sure if mom was getting notices to remind her to turn it on or not. She’s 88. She doesn’t always understand what she sees on her phone screen. The second time she fell it also didn’t go off, but this time I couldn’t find a reason other than it just didn’t work. But if she sets her phone down it goes off at the drop of a hat. Not dropping it, just setting it down. And then she can’t get it to stop even when she pushes the button saying she’s OK. Two days ago it went off in the morning while the phone was simply sitting on her arm chair next to her. She couldn’t get it to go off. I started getting notices via text and phone call so I go downstairs to her apartment and I can’t get it to go off. I had to shut off the phone to make the software stop. A little while later it did it again. Again I had to shut off the phone to make it stop. I took screenshots of the number of voicemails the software left me. It’s 2 full screens of nothing but voicemail messages from the company telling me that my mom fell when in fact nothing happened except the software malfunction. Then I checked my email later and I have 70+ emails from them telling me my mom has fallen. Something is very very wrong with this software. I uninstalled it and will be looking for a replacement. It called my wife, daughter, and son automatically. It was a comic scene as everyone tried to figure out how to respond. Thankfully I was wearing my I watch when I fell. The siren on the app. Awakened me from an unconscious state. My daughter was alerted via email and text that I had fallen. We went to the ER where I was diagnosed with a concussion as well as bruises and minor contusions. I am so grateful that this fall app works exactly the way it should. ### 5/5 — EXCELLENT FALL SAFETY *2018-10-04, version 1.6* I am aging but i cant wear jewelry so the app applied to my iphone is just what I need to notify my family contacts if I fall or have another emergency. i use it while gardening or daily walk or outside driving on errands. Its easy to use. ### 4/5 — How do I turn it off? *2020-02-05* I took a minor fall that sprained my left wrist. I was fairly shook up already when the siren went off to alert my Emergency Contact Person. I disabled the app by tapping on ‘silence’ & I’m OK. I talked to my Emergancy Contact on the phone, as the system had called her. This was Great! However, 10 minutes later, the alarm went off again! I ‘silenced’ it again & tapped on the ‘I’m Ok’, and the system called my Emergancy Contact again! This happened a total of 4 times that ended up leaving me quite rattled trying to manage with one hand! I finally deleted the app off my iPhone to stop it! I wrote to the Support option for help. They suggested I delete the app & re-install it, which I had already done, but did not re-install until the next day because I just couldn’t take it anymore. I’m very happy with the initial response from this app, but there needs to be an easier way to disable it. Thanks! Could be because I injured my left wrist, the first thing I did was take my Apple Watch off & put it on the charger. I’m guessing that because of this, the system thought I wasn’t moving! Immediately my Apple Watch started ringing and vibrating with a notification “looks like you’ve had a hard fall. Did you fall (yes or no “); do you need help? (Yes or no, I’m all right) I have had this app for over a year and never needed it. I was not hurt and had my son with me. Yes, I recommend this app. I fell in my home and the alert didn’t sound. Every time I lie down on my bed, or get up,it fires an alert. I have been living with that annoyance, but it went too far. I thought that the warning that it had lost the WiFi signal meant that it would not work while it was in my car. I was driving down the freeway when I heard a police siren. I looked all around, but I didn’t see any flashing lights. When I got to my destination, everybody was upset because my emergency contact had gotten a fall alert, and had initiated a police response. I have deleted the app because,I don’t know how to prevent this from happening again. ### 3/5 — Does it work without WiFi *2019-12-26, version 2.3* Twice when away from my house a notice came in I did not have internet. FallSafety Home will alert you of this situation so that you can move to an area of greater cellular coverage, if you wish to do so. ### 3/5 — Peace of Mind *2019-09-13, version 1.9* I love this feature on the IWatch 4. The peace of mind it gives me and my family is so worth the cost of the watch. And as I only pay $10/month for the cellular capabilities, even with the cost of the app it still costs less month to month than those ugly, heavy necklaces or bracelets. Plus AT&T helped me customize my caller ID so if the alarm goes off my emergency contacts will know it’s me and that it’s an emergency. My grandmother had the common medical alert necklace and when she had to use it her contacts saw a Portland number on caller ID (we live in MN) and no one answered. I no longer have to fear falling and hitting my head or getting stuck out in the snow when I let my dogs out. I’m so glad Apple is going in this direction. It truly is a life saver. P.S. it’s never gone off accidentally, which was my fear. It’s a very reliable app. 5 Stars!!! ### 2/5 — Was working and not *2022-07-31, version 3.1* I can’t get it to work.
