### 2/5 — Nothing like FTM Windows

*2022-10-12, version 1.0*

I had this for the variation of searching addresses and names and making reports etc just like computer Windows FTM 2019
It’s nothing like. I have more than one designed tree but won’t let me alternate etc. A waste of time unless you just want a list.

### 1/5 — Create Account

*2021-08-25, version 1.0*

I’m not finding how to create a account?

### 1/5 — ?

*2021-08-12, version 1.0*

I purchased this app. It tells me I need to add family tree vault but no where does it show me that access or tell me how to access the vault. No explanation, nothing..so money flushed ?

### 1/5 — Warning

*2021-07-16, version 1.0*

If you don’t use the paid subscription to Tree Vault you will not be able to use this app. Being a read only app really didn’t bother me but once I installed this it said it needed my Tree Vault login. I choose not to use Tree Vault because I don’t want to pay for its concept.

### 1/5 — Very bad

*2021-05-06, version 1.0*

It says a tree maker but didn’t even let me make one!

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2021-04-20, version 1.0*

It is just a list of names. Not possible to edit, search, etc.

### 1/5 — Poor. Stick to the ancestry app.

*2020-12-16, version 1.0*

Purpose of this app was, I think, a view of the tree data uploaded from Family Tree Maker onto the (paid for) FTM Connect app which is supposed to be an additional backup saved in the cloud. However, the upload to my tree from FTM to FTM Connect is many, many days worth of work out of date, some media items which have uploaded successfully onto ancestry app and ancestry website are missing, there is an extremely limited set of facts for each individual...it looks like it is still in beta stage and has a long way to go to be of any practical benefit.

### 2/5 — Can’t copy Tree to Family Tree Maker Connect

*2020-12-08, version 1.0*

After numerous attempts, downloading & reinstalling FTMC. Keeps on telling me that no tree has been found????

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2020-11-28, version 1.0*

Doesn’t even sync

### 1/5 — Can’t change the tree it is using

*2020-11-27, version 1.0*

This is useless if it can’t use the most current version of the tree I select. It is using a tree that I no longer have on my laptop.

### 1/5 — Useless. Use Ancestry app

*2020-07-27, version 1.0*

As others noted, there is no way to change the tree. It is stuck with my original tree....which is out of date. I deleted app, added it back and still it isstuck with old tree...which btw I deleted on my desktop. So I am very concerned they’re keeping my private data and who knows what they are doing with it.

### 1/5 — Poor basic app

*2020-06-01, version 1.0*

Not worth the time to download. Shows very basic info. Not like ancestry which shows media pertaining to that person.

### 2/5 — A very poor offering of a mobile app

*2020-04-05*

As a plain old viewer this app is great.............but that’s it! I might as well save some PDF reports from the main FTM on my Mac to share with family and friends, in fact that would be better as we often share with those we are not with physically. And as a tool for research, very frustrating. I can see what I want to edit on the go....but I can’t. So I don’t actually use it at all now. I’m currently trying out Heredis and it’s mobile app which allows edits and additions (and adding media)and it seems to be working well, just the sync with the Mac is a little awkward but it works. I used to use Ancestry but the sync between that and FTM was messing up my tree - if you do this check your tree and I’ll bet you’ll find lots of duplicate people - it has taken me ages deleting the duplicates!

### 2/5 — Suggestions

*2020-01-24, version 1.0*

The app is merely a convenience for those who wish to “show and tell” their tree as a conversation maker. Other than that the app has no relevancy or utility.
You are unable to add or edit any information in the FTM CONNECT app. Developers, please remedy this situation.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — A very poor offering of a mobile app and getting worse

*2024-12-16, version 1.0*

I reviewed this app previously and its shortcomings are still evident - it’s just a very basic viewer really and not much functionality. But now it won’t load my antenna tree at all - I get an error to say the process was not completed. I logged out and back in but same result. I don’t know if it’s to do with the forthcoming (maybe!) improvements to the mobile experience but I have had constant trouble with FTM on Windows seemingly losing connection with my antenna tree, not syncing, and only remedy is to keep replacing it. So maybe the whole backup system is breaking.

### 1/5 — No stars

*2024-11-12, version 1.0*

This app is pointless very disappointed.I don’t have time left in my life to wait for it to even open.
I got it to allow me to add to my family ancestry on my Ipad anywhere I am but it doesn’t do that it’s just a list of what you have on your main Family Tree Maker software.Such a shame.

### 1/5 — Does not work on the latest IOS iPhone

*2024-02-26, version 1.0*

I just updated to iPhone 15 and this app does not work at all.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2024-02-25, version 1.0*

I upgraded to try out the new item, Tree Vault. To try it out one must have a subscription, which I didn’t know that before hand. What you get without the subscription is a program called Connect. And all that does is enable one to have the tree of their choice on their phone or IPad. Cannot edit add or anything else other than delete it. If one wants to pay a monthly fee to be able to do anything then upgrade to FTM 2019. If not, then stay with FTM 2017 as there is not enough changes to make the upgrade worth it. For the first time since I have had FTM, which has been almost two decades, I am extremely disappointed.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2024-02-17, version 1.0*

Installed the app but crashes and have to delete and read to login but crashes again.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-10-31, version 1.0*

I downloaded this so that when I was at a family gathering, I could verify facts and add things. This app has nothing useful. Go back to the drawing board!

### 1/5 — Rubbish App

*2023-08-17, version 1.0*

Downloaded & there is no where on the app or website to register. Even when searching “register” on support page, nothing comes back. Waste of time downloading.

### 1/5 — Incomplete information

*2023-06-21*

You need family tree vault to access your tree on the cloud. This is not mentioned when you download the application. Waste of my time

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2023-05-13*

Worthless unless you just want to see how people are related. You can’t do anything with it.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2022-05-23, version 1.0*

Too bad it doesn’t display like the images shown on the App Store, just a crude representation of the family tree with no pictures.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just installed

*2020-10-31, version 1.0*

I have not used FTM connect yet but on first glance it is what I wanted. I have carried a sheaf of papers into European archives to guide my search for primary source material. They don’t allow laptops in but they do allow phones. I’ll adjust my rating if necessary after I use it on a research trip. But given the high quality of laptop FTM I doubt I’ll have to. To those who expect to have the full FTM on their phone, really? Have you thought that through?

### 5/5 — Good

*2020-08-03, version 1.0*

It’s good

### 4/5 — B

*2024-03-16, version 1.0*

I like being able to access the basic information from anywhere, and adds a layer of protection by being in the cloud. I can edit at home, no problem. Allowing family members access to my work is a plus.

### 4/5 — Family Tree Maker viewer

*2023-05-08, version 1.0*

Can see this being a useful tool for quick reference viewing of a Family Tree Maker tree.
It has the FTM tree index, that I am so used to using, for easy location of my ancestors within my extensive family tree; compared the Ancestry app.
However, I will obviously require to use Ancestry to make changes/updates when out and about as this is only a viewer.

### 4/5 — Pretty good for view only purposes

*2022-11-16, version 1.0*

I like being able to access my tree on my iPad or phone to show off my tree. The bad reviews seem to only complain because you can’t edit. I like that it also keeps my main tree in a cloud to backup. The only thing I would change is that I agree it needs a relationship calculator and I would like to see being able to add guest login. I want family to have access without having to give out my personal password.

I get having to pay for media upload because it can take a lot of space but perhaps the basic without media should be free and not a trial.

### 4/5 — Good start

*2020-01-09, version 1.0*

Good start with hopes of further functionality to follow.
Left review mainly to highlight other review here says FTM is Windows only - that is not correct. FTM runs on MAC without issues 👍

### 4/5 — Nice companion app could use some polish

*2019-12-13, version 1.0*

This app has been nice to use as a companion app to FTM 2019.

But: I would like to see more fields from the full app migrated here and the relationship calculation as well - since this is the number one question I’m asked when family gets together... “How are you related to my uncle Henry so-and-so?” It would be nice to open FTM connect... search Henry so-and-so... and see he’s my 1st cousin 2x removed...

### 4/5 — A useful reminder

*2019-10-21, version 1.0*

This app is advertised as a viewer, not as an editable resource. As such it provides Family Tree Maker ( currently on Windows only) owners , the opportunity to consult part of their tree on iPad at family gatherings or as a reminder of basic info at record offices. My ipad6 shows full fore names and surnames plus birth year. I just wish I had it a recent family funeral, I spent ages explaining my connection to the deceased. The simple coloured tree diagram shows that easily on one screen. Also useful if asked what was great aunt Mabel’s husbands name. A useful app while we wait for a tablet version of FTM.

### 3/5 — Changing tree

*2020-01-11, version 1.0*

There are no instructions how to change the latest version of FTM you are using on your laptop to use on FTM Connect! Once you start using a tree on FTM Connect you are stuck with it.

### 3/5 — One BIG Issue

*2019-10-05, version 1.0*

This app works just fine - lightweight fast, and easy to use.
BIG issue: datafields you may have marked as Private are fully displayed in this app! This is over-sharing and needs to be fixed pronto.
Also, no way to print or copy anything - this app is read-only, which, given the lack of security is probably a blessing...
