Had a document in French come up in the US docs (luckily I can read French) highlights were all on the wrong words, highlighting streets and words like “house” and “before” instead of the actual names in the document. Also had one document scanned in upside-down creating a similar issue where the highlights were trying to make names out of upside-down words but completely missed the actual names in that part of the document. It’s nice to pull up and work on, simple enough. But I wish that it had the chart with the multiple different ways letters are written, like indexing online does. I also hear that it doesn’t contribute to your family search account index counter, but I haven’t used it long enough to check if that’s true, though I am not too bothered by that. ### 5/5 — Easy to understand *2024-10-27* When you first login it teaches you the basics of how to use to app. Although it doesn’t always have English documents, you can still do the other languages because you aren’t translating the document (all the words you need to understand are translated in your preferred language). ### 5/5 — SO MUCH FUN *2024-09-22, version 1.4.5* THIS HAS REPLACED MY SOCIAL MEDIA. In one month I almost quick indexed 1500 names. I feel so much more productive. It is also fascinating to look at all these documents. I am a young person and I love it. I have showed the other people in my Young Women class how to do it. ### 4/5 — Meaningful! Needs improvement. *2024-06-30, version 1.4.5* Feels like I’m doing something valuable with my free time! I also love that it shows the path of your contribution, like how you help index a name and someone attached it to a person and took that name to the temple, which temple, etc. So meaningful. Improvements: I feel that each document zooms in too close to the name so you can’t even see the full name, making you pinch out to make sure you’re not missing a middle or first name when confirming. I also think there should be a way to flag that it’s an incorrect highlight and fix it, or marking that “Auckland Australia” is not a person without having it automatically skip to the next document because the rest of the document is a person, or mark that the computer skipped a first name and only highlighted the first and last name. Hope that all makes sense and can lead to app improvements. ### 5/5 — Great app (with a few bugs) *2024-06-20, version 1.4.5* EDIT June 2024: Bug Alert: Clicking "Not a Person" causes a bug where the next name shown has the same incorrect name written in the suggestion box above it. Example: Clicking "Not a Person" on the word VICTORIA (referring to Victoria, Australia) then goes on to the next name. It shows someone's name, but the suggestion box above it now says VICTORIA. ---------- EDIT December 2023: I am happy to report that the "All Names Reviewed" feature within "My Contributions" appears to be working again! The bar chart also appears to be working again. Also, the new volunteering stats (like the "People" section) are very cool to see. ---------- EDIT July 2023: The "My Contributions" section is still completely broken in many ways. Doesn't even count your contributions. My number of contributions for multiple months is shown as ZERO. Very upsetting. Please try to fix this. ---------- Such a great way to volunteer my time! App is designed well. ---------- EDIT March 2023: App suddenly stopped counting contributions towards the bar chart and the total number of names corrected. FamilySearch.org/GetInvolved on a computer still correctly adds to the "Names Corrected" counter inside the "Name Review" square. The app no longer adds to the counter! ---------- Also, please start counting Place-Name Correction/Verification, Indexing, etc into the counter/bar charts so that volunteers can see the number of things they have helped to correct (or verify) for all volunteering opportunities, as opposed to only seeing the number of corrections made for the Name Review volunteering opportunity. ---------- Review will change back to 5 stars after the major bug is fixed! ---------- EDIT 13 March 2023: I logged out, deleted the app, redownloaded the app, logged in, and reviewed more names. The bug is not fixed; My changes are not being counted towards the monthly or total "All Names Reviewed" under the "My Contributions" tab. Names I review on the app do not update the My Contributions numbers on the app or the website, whereas names I review on the website still correctly update the My Contributions numbers on both the website and the app. I believe this problem started with the newest software update (Version 1.4.0). ---------- EDIT March 2023: the edit counters in the "My Contributions" tab seem to be fixed now! (app Version 1.4.1) ---------- EDIT April 2023: the "My Contributions" counter is broken again... my contributions are not being counted, so my total number is starting the same and my April edits counter is staying at zero... ### 4/5 — Please add not a person button *2024-04-08, version 1.4.5* Great app. Super easy to use and allows zooming into documents. I review 30 names a day, more on days that I can. The app keeps a total of each months names reviewed. It’s rewarding in a spiritual way, I feel blessings from it. ### 3/5 — Addicting, but Bad Bugs *2023-09-03, version 1.4.1* I love the opportunity to help review names, and the convenience of being able to use my iPhone to help family history progress! I can review names when waiting in line at the store or when I have a few minutes to spare. Easy. There are several bugs in this app; but perhaps the worst is a newer bug that name swaps. When you click, “Incorrect Highlight” or hit the “Back” button, the contents of the text box gets stuck on the last name you reported as “Incorrect Highlight”, or approved as a “Match”. This can be corrected by clicking “Unsure”, but it took some experimenting to figure out. A glitch that has been a problem for awhile is the thermometer/counter, which doesn’t work regularly once you get past about 300k names. I have been stuck at under 400K for several months, and easily done 2 million or more names. Please provide an update to this app. You’ve started such a wonderful thing. Also you used to be able to pick (in increments of 10 I think) how many names you’d like to reviews. Adding a State from the selection resolves this. I do New Zealand records or Peorto Rico to help keep my mind sharp. My Contributions for April 2025 are missing. April shows a blank for me. My biggest complaint is the Apple keyboard when editing: press-and-hold spacebar to move the cursor. Great work!
