### 5/5 — Solid

*2026-05-14*

Like how simple it is to use. Really could use a dark mode tho!

### 5/5 — My newest addiction

*2026-05-13, version 1.2*

Would give this app more stars if possible, I’m constantly checking mine and my friends scoreboard every day and so much can happen without you even knowing and has made me realise how important it is to help the movie industry especially for smaller studios releases and has got me going out more trying new movies that I wouldn’t even know about

### 5/5 — Love this!!

*2026-05-13*

I love Fantasy Box Office and have really been enjoying playing it with my friends and family. I’m so glad there is finally an app for it!!

### 5/5 — A hit with friends

*2026-05-13*

My friends and I have started playing on the website at the start of the year and it’s a lot of fun. It’s also got us engaging with recent releases and seeing movies again.

The box office has seen some hard times since COVID, but it’s been great seeing and supporting cinema again.

Easy recommend to anyone who wants to engage with movies more or find the idea of fantasy leagues fun but have friends who aren’t into sports.

### 5/5 — Fun, free, and fantastic!

*2026-05-13*

My experience as a league commissioner using this app has been exceptional, and they’re constantly adding new features to make the experience even better. I highly recommend for anyone even remotely interested in movies and box office

### 5/5 — Great twist on fantasy leagues

*2026-05-12*

Fantasy Box Office is a really fun spin on fantasy sports. Instead of drafting players, you’re picking movies and seeing how they do at the box office each week. It’s easy to get into and a great way to stay connected with friends since everyone’s following along and rooting for their picks.

It’s also just a great way to get people involved since everyone has opinions on movies. It turns into a fun, low-key competition that’s easy to keep up with.

I’ve been playing for a while on the browser and keep coming back to it. If you’re into movies at all, it’s definitely worth checking out.

### 5/5 — This is What Movies Need

*2026-05-12*

This game is perfect. It has literally made my life better with my friends; we talk about movies all the time and go see movies more. It keeps us in the mix, and connected to each other. I’m so grateful this exists.

### 5/5 — Fantasy At Its Best

*2026-05-12*

Suddenly I get to run a studio picking movies I think will do well and sticking my rivals with movies I’m betting will flop.

This is the best fantasy sport I’ve ever played. Once your movies are set you get to sit back and watch the dominoes fall instead of endlessly tinkering with a lineup like other fantasy sports.

The interface is smooth and the developer is responsive.

### 5/5 — Great game, clean app

*2026-05-12*

I’ve been playing this game online with some family members for a while now and we’ve all been hoping for an app version. This app is super clean and easy to use, and the game itself is a super fun way to engage with the moviegoing experience! In the past, the creator has been extremely responsive and quick to fix any bugs that arise. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Fantasy Football for Film Fellas!

*2026-05-12*

So addicting and fun! Love being able to compete in a movie league with my friends. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — A brilliant Fantasy Box Office game for movies lovers without a heavy weekly time commitment

*2026-05-12*

Fantasy Box Office has become one of my favorite ways to stay connected with family, friends and the movie industry. I run a couple of leagues with family members, and it’s turned movie releases into an ongoing competition, conversation starter, and source of bragging rights all year long.

What I especially love is that it’s fun without becoming a major time commitment. This isn’t one of those fantasy games where you have to constantly manage lineups every week. I usually check my box office results every day or two over morning coffee, send a few messages to friends talking trash about the standings, and participate in a draft three times a year (I do mine live over Zoom, but you can also do it asynchronously). That’s it. It’s a really light lift to add to your life.

But once you’re playing, movies suddenly become a lot more interesting. Every trailer, ad, entertainment headline, or opening weekend report means something. You start thinking: “Wait… who has that movie?” or “I need this one to overperform,” or “Oh no, my competitor drafted that.” Box office numbers suddenly feel personal because they’re either helping your studio or helping somebody else beat you.

The strategy is surprisingly deep too. You’re not just picking movies you personally like — you’re trying to think like a real studio executive. Which films are undervalued? Which will explode with audiences? Which expensive blockbuster might disappoint? I’ve start to pay attention to how long a runway before the next big movie comes out, something that I never used to pay attention to.

The app is easy to use, draft day is a blast, and it’s been an incredibly fun way for our family and friends to stay connected around something we all already enjoy: movies.

If you love movies, friendly competition, or fantasy sports, this is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 2/5 — Higher player count

*2026-08-03*

Not all of my friends can play

**Developer response:** Sorry about that! It’s true that we currently have a 5 player limit per league because of game rules. We have some plans to increase that for next year, but in the meantime we suggest forming multiple leagues and comparing results across both.

### 2/5 — Ugly Ads

*2026-05-13*

I like the app as much as I like the site but the giant ad banner is ugly and annoying

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear that! We are experimenting with ad placements and will be introducing an ad-free tier later this summer.

### 5/5 — A Film Nerds Fantasy

*2026-08-27*

I loved the idea of fantasy football but as someone who wasn’t so into sports it never was something to get super into. Suddenly, I come across Fantasy Box Office. It combines the love for cinema with the fun and gamesmanship of a fantasy league. Even if you’re not a total film nerd we’ve all heard about a movie bombing or flopping and this game incorporates that as well if you can guess which movie will bomb, which will negatively affect your opponent’s score. The app/game is the kind of thing that seems so obvious of a great idea in retrospect.

The developer cares a lot and has been diligently updating the game for everything including to incorporate better ability to find a league if your friends aren’t interested.

If you are the kind of movie nerd who uses Letterboxd this is a must try. A pro tip for flexibility with the draft is to set the timer to like 12 hours so that you don’t have to all find the perfect time to meet up.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the kind words, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the game!

### 5/5 — Fantastic Game

*2026-08-21*

I am obsessed with Fantasy Box Office. I have three different leagues going and I’ve convinced other friends to start their own. It’s fun and easy to play.

### 5/5 — FBO Fun

*2026-07-05*

This is a fun way to play a fantasy game & the creator is consistently updating the app to improve performance & playability. It’s a slow grind but it’s fascinating to watch!

### 5/5 — Fun with friends

*2026-06-15, version 1.2.6*

Me and my mates get so much conversation out of films because of this app. It’s been a great addition to my 2026!

Highly recommend giving it a go, it’s very low maintenance but as films are coming out all the time there’s always something new to keep your eye on.

And if the app creators are reading this, THANK YOU! It’s a great idea and you deserve all the success.

### 5/5 — Fun!

*2026-06-09*

Found it from The Town but now have a bunch of leagues across a bunch of different corners of my life

### 5/5 — AMAZING

*2026-05-27*

So much fun and so well done, creator is clearly dedicated and it shows

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and kind words!

### 5/5 — Great for movie fans

*2026-05-17*

Saw this game online and had to show my friends who are all movie fans. At first they were skeptical but now we’re going to the movies more than ever just to see if our picks flop or not!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review, glad you’re enjoying it!

### 5/5 — A Fantasy Football App for Movie Nerds - Brilliant!

*2026-05-14*

I’m completely addicted to this app. It takes the fantasy sports draft concept and perfectly translates it into the movie industry. Drafting real movies, tracking box office performance, and managing budgets.
The app feels polished, fast, and original. The year round league format keeps things engaging long after the draft, and the customizable rules make every league feel unique. The realtime box office updates make checking scores exciting, especially on big opening weekends.
What really elevates it is the social aspect. The in-app chat turns every bad pick, surprise hit, and box office disaster into instant trash talk material. You feel like both a studio executive and a degenerate fantasy sports manager at the same time.
If you love movies, fantasy leagues, or friendly competition, you have to try this app.
