## What is Farbmusik Labor?

See music. Hear colours.

Farbmusik Labor is a simple way into the basics of music. Each of the twelve tones has its own colour, and notes become coloured shapes. You can play, read and understand music, even if you cannot read sheet music.

PLAY
• Five instruments: keyboard, colour keys, colour wheel, tone field and colour guitar
• Use several fingers at once; everything you play appears as colour notes
• MIDI keyboards are supported
• Eight sounds, many from real recordings: piano, guitar, harp, marimba, glockenspiel and flute
• Play as a pair on iPad, or show it large in the classroom via projector or AirPlay

DISCOVER
Twelve stations to try out: experience first, then learn the term.
• Pitch: colour and tone, octave, pitch
• Time and form: duration, pulse and metre, musical form
• Sound: loudness, overtones, who is playing?
• Harmony: intervals, chords, scales

PAINT AND NOTATE
• Just tap: paint your own pieces as colour notes right above the keyboard and play them back
• Public-domain songs from six cultures as templates
• Play along above the keyboard: the music waits for you

FOR EVERYONE
• iPhone and iPad, portrait and landscape
• VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion and haptics
• Note names on request, plus sound and speech
• Works offline

NO STRINGS
No ads, no in-app purchases, no account. The app collects no data. The microphone only runs if you choose “Sing” in station 1 and allow it; your voice stays on the device.
