Unfortunately this app (and Fare Co) does not help that goal as it currently is. First there is ZERO marketing happening to get the message out that an alternative to the monopolies exists. SF residents would absolutely become drivers and passengers of Fare if a simple billboard or two was placed here in the city. The increase in usage would more than make up for the cost of a billboard. Second it’s next to impossible to open an account in your app. Right now it REQUIRES a referral code to become a passenger member. I don’t know any of the drivers yet; how am I to know who gets my referral. The only way I was able to get past that create account screen was to put in a code that someone posted in the App Store review section. Whoever that driver is or where he drives, I have no idea. But he got my referral and that’s stupid. You need to remove that requirement immediately. And finally the Fare app in the Apple App Store is not listed first or second or even third when I search for ‘Fare’. I had to scroll down to finally see it (I think as the sixth choice?). Since it’s not seen at the beginning many people just assume it’s not real. You guys need to fix this SEO. All in all I want a rideshare co-op to work here in the Bay Area but as it currently exists, this is not it. ### 3/5 — Feedback *2026-06-28, version 6.6.1* Needed to go to website chatbot to get a referrer code. Can’t login, I try to reset my password and I never get the emails or texts. I love the idea but seems like it’s not very well designed ### 1/5 — What do they want? *2025-05-09* I’m in Sacramento CA, and I’ve downloaded this app, but I can’t seem to get started with it. I put in my pickup point and destination, but when I hit “Ride Now” it tells me to add a credit card, and when I hit “Card” it says “No other wallet mode available in this city.“ I have no idea what that means, or what I’m supposed to do. The map cannot be oriented the same way you would in any map function. The map would also not record the address where you pointed your location to the driver. Had to message the driver the proper location. The driver once picked me promptly then canceled my ride once he found a more lucrative rider for the airport. Very empowering to the drivers. Regarding the map, we rely on Google Maps to detect addresses based on the coordinates you select — so if an address doesn’t register correctly, it’s unfortunately a limitation of the Maps API itself, which also affects other apps using the same technology. As for your ride being canceled in favor of a higher-paying trip — that’s completely unacceptable. While all our drivers are vetted under California’s requirements, behavior like this goes against our community values. Then cancelled and they still took the money out without confirming a driver or time. Deleted my account. ### 1/5 — App Does Not Work *2026-06-19* App worked my first try. The fares seemed high as a rider. Then the app stopped working. It tells me to update and directs back to app store where there is no update. It is a never-ending cycle. Also, when the app worked the first time, there was no car available...lol. They are advertising this thing like crazy but they should have been ready first. So it looks like bad AI in the app is trying to compete with Robocars. Apparently, entering a referral code is programmed as a hard requirement for creating an account. I have tried to use this app multiple times to give it a fair chance. Every ride I have scheduled has been cancelled by admin. I was about to try again and book my ride for work tomorrow night, but I realized the fare cost more than my lift. Also my promo code doesn’t work because I used it to book a ride that was cancelled. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — rider supporting drivers *2026-06-21* Took a ride with a great female driver, who was, on time, professional, easy ride start to finish. She mentioned FareCo-Op isn’t backed by big VC money like the other guys, so the app isn’t perfect yet, but they’re building it the right way and it’ll only get better. I love knowing my fare actually supports the people driving, since this is driver-owned. Found out I can even earn by referring friends as a rider, not just drivers. The app is super user-friendly, easy to navigate, and linking my transit card was a breeze. I love how I can track my savings and see all the discounts at a glance. Thanks, Fare Coop, for making my rides more affordable and hassle-free ### 5/5 — Saved the money on every ride so far compared to the other guys *2025-06-15, version 6.1.5* So far every time I’ve used the app I’ve saved money compared to the other big two rideshare companies. In fact, I’ve saved over and above their 20% average savings when I’ve gone to events and concerts. It was more like 40% savings as they don’t have any search pricing, which is a big plus in my book. The use of the app is easy and the price is always the same at the end of the ride. Unlike some other apps I’ve used where they charge me more than I was quoted on my credit card after the Fact. But my most exciting thing is they gave me my own referral code to use to sign up my friends and family and I’m earning money on every ride. They take already and keeps going up so very excited about this new rideshare company and looking forward to using them more and more as they get more drivers. ### 5/5 — Cheaper Fare *2025-04-08, version 6.1* The fair right chair app is much cheaper than Lyft. My ride with Lyft cost me $26.75 with fair. It would’ve cost me $18.75. That’s enough for me to switch from Lyft and tryout fair. The driver was great. The car was clean new and very quick service. ### 5/5 — Driver *2025-01-23* I have been driving FareCoop from the time it started here in Fresno, California and it’s been a far better experience than Uber or Lyft as it offers us Drivers up to 90% of the fare while saving the riders up to 20% less than any other Rideshare company.
