### 1/5 — Why charge people to use it?

*2022-03-13*

I used to love this app. But then the developers got greedy and decided to charge people just to use the app. That’s ridiculous. It’s one thing to charge people to get a certain discount when booking, but to charge people who just want to look at the flights? That’s insane. You aren’t even guaranteed to find a flight, so you are essentially paying to use the app and nothing more. I used to tell people about how great the app was but not anymore and I’m deleting it from my phone. Such a shame they ruined it.

### 1/5 — New fee :(

*2021-08-12, version 4.07*

I’ve loved this app, now suddenly there is a fee to use. I would rather see ads or pay when I book a flight. I will use another app.

### 1/5 — Used to be free to look

*2021-08-10, version 4.07*

I’d rather pay a fee when booking or look at ads vs paying $4.99 per month every month just to look 🙄 miss the older version

### 1/5 — New fee

*2021-06-14, version 4.07*

Loved this app for so long and it used to be free but now all of a sudden they are charging. I do get everyone needs to make money, but obviously if I’m searching for cheap flights I’m on a budget lol. Just not looking to add another monthly subscription if Im only traveling a few times a year anyway. Such an awesome concept and was DEFINITELY great while it lasted.

### 2/5 — Changes to site

*2020-11-30, version 4.07*

I had been using the site with good results however now it will not allow for viewing without purchasing a subscription. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — DO NOT PAY

*2020-06-19, version 4.06*

It’s impossible to stop the automatic payment!!

### 1/5 — DO NOT GET THIS APP

*2020-06-03, version 4.06*

You will be charged once your “free trial” is up!

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2020-04-20, version 4.06*

This app charged me 65.31 for “free trial”. Never again.

### 1/5 — Rareness

*2020-04-17, version 4.06*

Please cancel I hit by mistake and now you have put me and will charge me in 30 days didn’t want this

### 1/5 — Seriously

*2020-04-17, version 4.06*

Who pays for travel app these days. I would not even pay a penny for that.. stop taking advantage of people. Your features are offered for free on many apps. You’ll never be able to sell cheaper then airline price.

### 1/5 — Unable to Cancel!!

*2020-03-17, version 4.05*

I am unable to cancel this Subscription & they won’t respond to my emails!!

### 1/5 — Faulty app

*2020-03-16, version 4.05*

It needs to be re-configured as it would keep taking me to the subscription page even when I had already signed up for the 3-day free trail

### 1/5 — Highly Unsatisfied - Subscription Needed For Use

*2020-03-12*

I saw this app on Instagram and figured I would check out the prices they were advertising. After downloading the app, I explored a few vacation spots and the app forced me to upgrade to the premium version. The app was completely useless without a subscription. Note for developers: allow people to book flights despite not having a subscription. They do offer a free trial but, I don’t think the app is even worth paying for. It’s ranked 35th in Travel on the App Store so there are plenty other apps ready to use without a subscription.
.
.
I know that you are able to use the app without a subscription however, it seems the primary way that this app gets money is from that subscription service. Also read the other reviews before downloading or subscribing to their service.

### 1/5 — Waste

*2020-03-11, version 4.05*

They promote themselves as the only place to see a “calendar” of fares... you can get that with google flights.
So I download to check it out, immediately they want you to pay $8/mo to use. No thanks. Google flights is free.

RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER RESPONSE:

Google also doesn’t require you to put dates in to see fares. Google flights also doesn’t charge booking fees & doesn’t have advertising clogging up the page.

So tell me again why I would put out $8/mo?

### 1/5 — Nice try

*2020-03-10, version 4.05*

You have to pay in order to see what you’re actually interested in. Only useful if you’re interested in traveling in the next month for 2-4 days.

### 2/5 — Misleading thought free think again

*2020-03-10, version 4.05*

It looks like this app is free, ha, you can’t get answers until you approve of the “3day free trial” then they’ll charge you $7.99 a month.

### 1/5 — Do not use this company

*2020-03-09*

Rating 1 star as we’d booked a trip through Fareness and given the recent pandemic, Fareness proved it would rather make a profit and ignore airline policies about the pandemic. It was impossible trying to locate customer service on the app. It only led to a feedback forum. The app lags itself - I have no idea where these 8k reviews came from

On top of that, this company is extremely low budget. I called their customer service and it was one single guy who was rude and had very little knowledge of what he was doing. He claimed he had policies in front of him, that were completely made up because they weren’t what the airline was globally communicating but the associate INSISTED he was right.

I called the airline and they said it was quite typical Fareness doesn’t follow airline policy and they consistently end up having to fix the issues.

Don’t use the app. Don’t use the company. You’ll waste your money.

**Developer response:** Given that we earn $0 on bookings and that 100% of the fare paid is passed straight through to the airline, these accusations do not appear to be fair or accurate. We have no incentive to earn a profit by ignoring policies, since we do not drive any profit in this way. All ticket policies are set by the airlines, and we work on behalf of our customers to compel airlines to do the right thing when it comes to making changes or cancellations in times like this. That said, It's a highly dynamic time, and the airlines don't always communicate their up to the minute policies, established just hours prior, to agencies.

### 1/5 — Buggy, does not work

*2020-03-09, version 4.05*

I tried it out and despite agreeing a subscription it kept asking me to subscribe or press to restore. Never worked! Tried on both an iPad Pro and iPhone X.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-03-06, version 4.05*

If I could give it a zero I would. You can download it for free but when you try to use it, it Requires a $7.99/mo subscription.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-03-04, version 4.05*

Search feature doesn’t work

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Convenient or not?

*2024-03-25*

I downloaded this app after a Google search and a Condé Nast Travel article. It seems to offer destinations and prices but I’m not sure who doesn’t already know where to go? I want the lowest price flight and my dates are flexible, but why should I be asked to pay for an app that is already advertising to me? This is so confusing! They immediately ask for 5 bucks a month for what service? Knowing when it’s cheaper to fly?

### 1/5 — Found a cheaper flight in 5 min.

*2024-03-03, version 4.07*

I don’t know what the limits are for there fare-bots, but I’m unimpressed with this one.

### 1/5 — SCAM! Do not even look at this app!

*2024-02-09*

A few days ago I downloaded the Fareness app and I was looking to seeing what it offered. After a few minutes or so I wasn’t able to use the app without a prompt to get a subscription. There was a free trial and I chose to do that. There was even a message that I will be notified when my free trial is over. I browsed the app for sometime more and realized that it does not have what I am looking for. So I went and cancelled the app subscription the same day. However, I received a charge for the monthly fee on 2/6 when the free trial ended. This should not have occurred in the first place!! I cancelled the free trial! After contacting Apple I was notified to contact the developer for a resolution.
I would like to get the charge removed and reimbursed to my account. I did not find my experience with the app satisfactory and the info was very misleading. This is a scam.

### 1/5 — Makes no sense

*2024-02-06, version 4.07*

Who is this app for? The frequent travelers? The occasional travelers?
A frequent traveler doesn’t have flexibility in dates and the occasional has no need to pay a monthly fee. This shouldn’t be a paid app

### 1/5 — Promising but unusable

*2024-02-03, version 4.07*

Seems like a really cool and promising app, but requires a subscription to do anything at all. Complete waste of time.

### 1/5 — Horrible - why would you pay?

*2024-01-11, version 4.07*

This is a horrible app. Why would you pay for something that doesn't even function very well.

### 1/5 — It didn’t work for me

*2023-08-14, version 4.07*

I paid the subscription but my flights never loaded

### 1/5 — Hi

*2023-07-11, version 4.07*

Just downloaded this app picked my flights then takes me to Priceline and that’s it. It trying to load but doesn’t. How can I cancel it before my free trial is up

### 1/5 — Useless unless you subscribe

*2022-10-06, version 4.07*

I should have figured it out when their website shut down and forced me to use the app. I tried downloading the app, but in order to use it you must subscribe to their service. It is no longer a free or even a cheap service unless you fly very frequently.

### 1/5 — Couldn’t use it because they want you to buy it

*2022-07-27, version 4.07*

Disappointed

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fareness is fair!

*2019-10-18*

Wonderful app! I really appreciate having the flights and times available all in one location. As for the complaint of charging a fee. The avg. cost is about $5 a month. That is pretty fair. Please keep up the good work. I use the app. All the time.

**Developer response:** You're very welcome, thank you for the kind words!

### 5/5 — Fareness

*2019-08-28, version 4.02*

Fareness has saved me tons of money over the years. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Help, When I Most Needed It

*2019-06-09*

Earlier this year I booked a great flight deal using Fareness for my honeymoon. The departure time and date were great, and the price was phenomenal.

I was so looking forward to the trip: 3 weeks in Brazil with my new husband. Unfortunately, life had other plans. Several weeks before my scheduled departure, I shattered my left tibia just below the knee. This rendered me completely incapable of walking and required several rounds of surgery to fix. In short, there was absolutely no way my Brazil trip was happening.

After contacting the airline directly and explaining the circumstances of my cancelation, the airline requested I go through Fareness since they were the booking agency. I’m glad I did.

After several rounds of explanations and some furnishing of proof of my injury, Fareness achieved something rare in today’s world of airline customer service: they got me a full refund for not only my ticket, but my husband’s as well! Had I taken the standard approach and merely paid the cancellation fees, I would have lost over $900 US dollars.

Instead, I will receive a refund of nearly $1400 US dollars. Many thanks to the Fareness customer support team for their persistence in helping resolve my issue. I will definitely continue to use the service and encourage my friends and family to do the same. Five Stars all around!

**Developer response:** Thank you, we're glad we could help!

### 5/5 — Lost interest..

*2019-05-30, version 4.01*

Been using this app for awhile and now they want a subscription fee?! That’s wild but some companies are just greedy and want to take everything they can from the consumers

**Developer response:** Hi there. I'm not sure it's so much greediness, as simple economics. Our data isn't free. We have to buy it at extreme cost. Our employees also want to eat. When people use our app for free, then book elsewhere, not only do we not make money, we lose it. This model, $5/mo, helps us be able to cover our costs while saving you potentially hundreds on every trip booked.

### 5/5 — New Fee!! Annual subscription fee to use!!

*2019-04-29*

I would’ve given the app five stars however I’ve been using this app for the last 2 1/2 years and today before I can use the app I was told now there is a fee to subscribe to be able to use the app all of a sudden and it’s almost $60 USD. Since when and why? It use to be FREE!! Why wasn’t there some type of notice that that would happen they give you seven days for free subscription after that you will be charged??? I’m only going to use it six more days unfortunately this is a sad change.

**Developer response:** Hi Tyesha, thanks for your support over the past 2 1/2 years. Fareness has extreme data costs, but we don't get paid when people browse our app but book elsewhere. So, that free model unfortunately wasn't sustainable. For $5/mo, you get the full power of the app to potentially save hundreds of dollars on every trip you book, and you can book wherever you'd like. That way, we cover our costs, and you still save money.

### 5/5 — Simple & Easy

*2018-05-28, version 3.95*

I think the interface is really nice. I like it enough to give it 5 stars.

### 5/5 — FAVORITE

*2018-05-05*

LOVE LOVE LOVE this app. I recommend it to everyone and it has helped me so much be able to travel more by getting good deals. I love the fare calendar so I can see which days are better for travel financially. Absolutely obsessed and anyone who wants to travel on a budget - get this app!!!

**Developer response:** Thank you! So great to hear that!

### 5/5 — Two Thumps Up

*2017-11-29, version 3.17*

This is a great app if you are looking for the lowest fares and are flexible with your dates. It’s really easy to use and even tells you if the ticket includes a carryon or not for those pesky basic economy fares.

### 5/5 — Made my life easier!

*2017-11-29*

When traveling I always check multiple websites for the best deals... Unfortunately that takes up a lot of my time. Once I downloaded this app not only did it save me time but it truly had the best deals. What a great find!

### 5/5 — As a frequent Traveler this is gold!

*2017-11-29, version 3.17*

When I want to go somewhere the first thing I do is check the fareness app to find out what the best dates are to get good fares. I've literally saved thousands of dollars!
