## What is Faria?

Ask any word out loud and hear what it means in seconds, without your eyes ever leaving the page. Faria turns reading into a daily habit you actually keep.

You know the feeling. You hit a word you don't quite know, reach for your phone to look it up, and surface twenty minutes later on something else entirely. The book waits. Again.

Faria keeps you in the story. Just ask, "what does petrichor mean?" and hear a clear definition read aloud, tuned to the book in your hands. No tab. No typing. No looking away.

And it does more than answer:

• Keep a streak you won't want to break. A gentle nudge each day keeps the habit alive.
• Grow your own vocabulary. Every word you ask about is saved to the book you found it in.
• See it add up. Minutes read, words learned, books finished, all in one place.
• Win back your evenings. Watch reading quietly replace screen time.

Reading was never the hard part. Starting again every day was. Faria makes starting the easy part.

Your books are calling. Open Faria and read today.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-10-04

Streaks forgive a missed day. Every week you read earns a save, and if you miss a day, a save covers it with Faria's seal.

Saved Lines is now a wall of cards you can shuffle or flick through as a deck, a reminder opens its line straight away, and any line can be shared as an image card.

Run your session by voice. Say "pause this session" to take a break, "let's call it a day" to wrap up, or "delete that last word" and "undo" to fix your word list.

Your free week, spelled out. The membership page now shows how the trial runs, day by day, and Faria reminds you two days before it ends.

Tap a reading reminder and Faria takes you straight to your book.

Type a title and Faria shows the book it found, cover and all, before adding it.

Meet Luna, a soft and expressive new voice, in place of Rosalind.

A definition's picture now sits bare beneath it. Prefer words only? Turn pictures off in Settings, under Appearance.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-29

Meet Ashley, Faria's new voice, and six more to choose from in Settings: Sarah, Olivia, Rosalind, Elliot, Mark and Alain. A new word's definition now starts about two seconds sooner.

Ask a follow-up. Right after a definition or an answer, say "can you give me an example?" or "what does that mean?" and Faria builds on what you just heard.

Lines save themselves. Read a line aloud on its own and Faria keeps it, with a few seconds to undo or edit first, and tidies away stumbles and misheard words.

In books that teach, a word that names a thing now comes with a picture you can open full screen.

Sign in on a second device and your reading follows you: time read, an unfinished session, your plan, photos and deleted words.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-25

Ask Faria about the book. Mid-session, ask out loud or type who someone is or why something happened, and hear a short answer in your reading voice. Faria asks once what page you're on, so an answer never reaches past it, and a question asked right after you read a passage aloud is answered about that passage.

More of the session runs by voice. Say "pause" or "let's take a break" to pause, "delete the last word" or "undo" to fix your list, and once your goal is met, "I want to read 15 more minutes" starts a timer while the clock keeps counting. You can also spell a word out loud, letter by letter.

Leave a session early with Save & Exit, and your time and words wait for the next session on that book. If the app is closed mid-session, the time you read is still saved.

Barcode scanning works again, with the whole camera on screen and the code framed while it's looked up.

Also in 1.4: every spoken cue plays in your reading voice at your chosen speed, the dimmed screen wakes on your first spoken word, hold-to-speak always sends when you let go, and Goal Reached shows today's minutes as large as your streak.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-21

Your shelf and your reading plan now agree.

Add a book by hand, from the shelf or from the plan itself, and it takes the next slot in the plan. A book that was added before the plan, or taken out of it, can be put back from its own page with Add to Plan, and every book's page now says where it stands: in your plan, book 3 of 8.

Tap a book in the plan before you have a daily goal and you can set the goal right there. Every book gets its finish date on the spot, and the pace sheet now opens like the rest of Faria's sheets, close button and all.

When the reading alarm rings, Read now asks “Got your book?” first: today’s book is up, you can switch to another from the strip, and Start takes you straight into the session. And if someone gave you a code, Have a code? on the paywall and in Membership redeems it.

Also in 1.3: editing a saved line happens on the card itself, whether you fix it mid-session or later from the book, with a quieter way to delete one. Appearance sits nearer the top of Settings. And tapping a line that Faria brings back always opens the book it came from.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-07

Faria has a dark mode.

Pick Light, Dark, or Auto under Appearance in Settings. Auto follows your phone, so a late chapter no longer lights up the room, and even the block screen goes dark with it.

Save a line by voice and Faria now writes it down the way you would have on paper: punctuation in, stumbles out, your words kept. If the line says what a word means, that word is filed into the book's words as well.

Say "as in one word" and Faria hears it as a spelling, not as more of the word. A word it split in two comes back whole, joined or hyphenated, whichever you asked for.

Also in 1.2: daily reminders stand down once you have finished a session, and turning them off means quiet. A day's collected words read newest first, and words restored from another device keep the date you collected them. The pace wheel writes as it turns, so closing the sheet keeps what you set. And a few small fixes to what Faria hears: a pause no longer leaves a dash on the word, a word said twice is looked up once, and every quotation closes.
